Dawnbreaker is the worst Dungeon in WoW History

It’s a toss-up at a minimum.

You can change flight style in the dungeon. I swap to steady flight after the first boss and it makes the town part easy since I can hover and pause. Just swap back to skyriding after killing the boss.

That said, I’m sure there will be an optimal kill order of the lieutenants once mythic+ drops, and the player base will learn to go to like, Cathedral first, so then everyone will just land there and expect the group to be there.

It would be easier if the map tracked players better and made it show where to go. Because the ships are moving it can get annoying. sometimes i find it dizzying trying to get on and off the ships honestly.

It’s my favorite dungeon so far this expac.

I do think the map needs to be updated to highligh the 2nd boss lieutenants better though. I’ve seen a lot of groups just skip that entirely and go to the boss directly while he has a 200% dmg increase buff because the map icon is only showing him.

100% completely agree. There is no guidance whatsoever. Absolute garbage. M+ nightmare thanks Bliz.

Oh don’t worry low levels can play them only from those who have done the campaign first.

You can’t gaslight me, I played vanilla Wailing Caverns.

Reading this post when completing dawnbreaker in 10 min hits differently.

OP you are good at playing forum, not the game

Dawnbreaker is the watered down version of Nokhud, which is worse.

It’s definitely up there with Auchindoun, though.

After doing said dungeon today I can say I agree with OP, the dungeon sucks and it’s worse with the Ai teammates. It’s not clear at the start which way to go, trying to attack any of the guys who’re not on the right path tells me I can’t see them when they’re not behind a wall. I got blown up by the void move of the first boss while on my mount nowhere near the bubble and it still killed me. Last boss is beyond stupid as it’s so complicated and even after getting past phase one no matter where I landed it insta wiped the party even if I land by the torchbearer and interrupt the boss like the dungeon journal says to I still got instantly killed by that dumb darkness dot. If this dungeon ends up a mythic plus dungeon I can already hear the rage that would cause as this dungeon is BS. I try to land on the smaller boats during first fight and I go to land and it phased me through the ships…I had to try to land like ten times to land once so…hey…bugs…great…was this dungeon even tested as I’ve never hated a dungeon more than Dawnbreaker

but is it as bad or worse than occulus?

Thematically and mechanically i think it’s really cool. Actually navigating where to go next is the only issue. My first time running it none of us knew the spot we should land at and it became very frustrating.

Not to mention that i encountered a glitch where after the first side ship exploded i took off and somehow glitched through the deck of the main ship and was stuck inside the ship, unable to leave as all stairwells are blocked. Thankfully i could teleport out of dungeon and back in. Can’t do that on mythic though so hope they fix that!

You need a tank that knows what hes doing in this dungeon to make it smoother. Ive seen many tanks not know where to drop when flying and it makes the experience really discombobulated.

its literally the worst i HATE it

I just went into a follower dungeon of Dawnbreaker and watched tank guides on my other monitor. After a couple follower dungeons, I understood the route and mechanics. When doing it in heroic dungeons though, a lot of people land on mobs and don’t take off before the group gets aggro. Gonna be a nightmare in pugs for sure.

This has always been one of my favorite dungeons, though that’s mainly because of the lore (Lord of the Clans was one of my first Warcraft novels and Thrall became one of my favorite characters). Also, after Cataclysm it was the only way to revisit old Southshore - one of my favorite and most nostalgic towns.

Bugs too often to be called marvelous. That’s rose-tinted glasses you got there. There’s always someone flying to falling into a ship, or the ship not being visible at all one run out of three.

You can have your opinion, just like I can have mine. Only bug I have encountered on live servers is the LOS bug in the starting area. Outside of that, every bug I encountered in beta was addressed (I submitted plenty of reports on that dungeon) and it’s been smooth. I’ve not had a single group complain of falling into a ship or not being able to see it, so “always” is a bit of a stretch.

Either way, bugs aside (those can be fixed and likely will be), the dungeon is an excellent dungeon. The fights are fun. Skyriding is used in an great way. It’s a gorgeous dungeon. Just the simple wind resistance flying from one ship to the next, which gives that immersive feeling like you’re trying to catch up to a moving target, is amazing. Excellent dungeon.

Did it once for the quest which is enough for me.

Thank goodness others in my party knew what they were doing.

Actually one of the best dungeons, and very stereotyped approach, but you do have to learn the layout.

Darkflame is the bad design in this expansion.
