I like the dawnbreaker its fun. Sure people do get lost and there are a few bugs. Had a friend fall through the ship and get stuck. But, I think that candle one is the worst…hands down.
Yeah both of those dungeons suck, so many gimmicks in the whole expansion so far that simply aren’t fun. Especially in the quests and delves, but putting them into the dungeons is a terrible idea.
I hate this one. I can’t really read chat or hear npc dialog during if I’m in voice chat to begin with (sensory overload I guess) and I have no idea where I’m going, party mates on the minimap are a lie, that stupid “grab orbs or die” when I don’t need the vigor because I can skyride for days, the bugs, and that’s only part of it. This one’s gonna be a dead key.
The candle one is a buggy mess too, don’t get me wrong, but it’s playable. I’ll eat the leaver penalty before I play DB again, at least on a tank or healer.
This is absolutely a contender for worst ever.
I have no idea why people ever thought oculus was bad. Its one of the only dungeons where they successfully incorporated flying.
Even with the terrible environment / tree camera blocking design of RLP, at least it wasnt stupidly confusing with a crap load of extra enemy bars all over the place for no reason.
This dungeon has literally everything that is bad about a dungeon. Environmental camera blockage, extremely confusing route, awful directions, tons of superfluous enemy bars…
It feels like they gave an up coming new designer temp a project to work on to prove themselves… and they failed horribly.
Just posting here again to remind everyone how awful this dungeon is.
There’s always one.
It was almost completely linear. Dunno why people hate it so much.
Honestly, a big chunk of these dungeons are a huge miss. Dawnbreaker is awful. So is cleft. So is threads. Rookery feels like it was slapped together in about 5 minutes. Priory is great.

The issue with the oculus was the drake section. You get locked out of your abilities and get forced to use the drake ones instead, and the drake abilities kind of sucked.
On a side note I think Dawnbreaker highlights just how complacent people have gotten lately. If the plan isn’t just: charge forward, hit stuff then collect loot people just don’t know how to handle it.

You dont even use the drake abilities to do anything except fly to the platforms until the last boss (besides the super brief part where you kill some whelps). Then you can chain stun the boss and he dies in like 20 seconds.
I haven’t seen any complaints here where they seem to be saying “dawn breaker is bad because i cant just charge forward.” … it’s buggy, has very bad visual design elements, and unclear instructions.
I’ve cleared it a bunch of times. I don’t like it, and seeing how it’s the only dungeon where i’ve had issues with people leaving immediately, i’m definitely not alone.
did it on follower dungeon and its like they dunno how to do it either the last fight a disaster lol
They said it will be the flagship dungeon for all M+ seasons this expac.
Step 1: Go straight when entering the dungeon and clear two packs of mobs to go up the ramp to the right, which gets you access to the Dawn Breaker.
Step 2: Board the Dawn Breaker and kill the trash pack in the middle with the big mob.
Step 3: Kill the new trash pack to the left with another big mob. This will spawn the boss.
Step 4: Kill the boss while dodging floor stuff. The healer has to heal a heal absorb when the dot the boss casts ends or is dispelled. The boss does a mass AOE ability, just mount of and fly off the side of the ship. Make sure you get a golden orb (there’s many). Wait for the explosion then go back on the ship, rinse and repeat til deadge.
Step 5: Fly off the boat after boss and either–
A: Kill the Lieutenants which are always located in the same spots. OR
B: Kill the boss directly, but just make sure to not pull him when he’s near ads. He’s actually very easy to beat on heroic with all his buffs up. The biggest wipe issue I see with that boss is that everyone is dumb and pulls him next to loads of trash so obviously you’re going to die when everyone has random agro + extra crap going out.
Step 6: Fly back up to the Dawn Breaker after the 2nd boss dies and kill the big mob in the middle. This will spawn the final boss.
Step 7: FINAL BOSS AIR HORNS
- Nuke the boss down and avoid stuff on floor.
- If you get a green laser line on you, the solid side of it is safe, so you move with the laser so that you’re not hitting the team.
- Gather the bombs and run them to boss and hit the boss with them when they spawn.
Boss gets mad ur killing him and flies off, EZ. Wait a sec, mount up, and DO NOT FOLLOW THE BOSS!
- Fly off the boat and follow the line of golden orbs, fly fast, collect as many as you can while not focusing so much on them that you are slow. You’ll end up at the boss with loads of orb stacks and just in time to interrupt the boss and beat him down. Same mechanics as earlier, except now you also run out big circles cuz they drop ugly webs on floor that slow you down.
It’s one of the fastest easiest dungeons to play. The worst part is if you try to be too precise with your flying boat to boat, sometimes you can clip into the boats or get knocked under. Just exaggerate your movement and always land from above the deck.
Another thing is if you’re killing Lieutenants, the Tank needs to land first and always ping where he lands so it’s easier to see.

Now the boss dies in 20 seconds, when it was current content the last boss was much harder than he is now.
Also the issue is more about not being able to play the class you want to play and instead having to play with the drake abilities that you don’t.

While people are good at identifying what the like or don’t like, they are very bad at identifying why they like or don’t like things.
It’s ok to not like the dungeon. I just think the reasons people are giving for that dislike are flawed and therefore likely to not be the actual cause of that dislike.
Personally I found the instructions to be quite clear. There aren’t many ways to misinterpret what essentially amounts to “Fly, you fools!” and “Hey! They’re trying to steal the boat again, go kill them.”.
The main issue I had with the place was people repeatedly body pulling the second boss as he patrols.
I think the dungeon is okay, but mob density is too high in the town.
At the speed of dragonriding the UI doesn’t have the fidelity to figure out where your tank is- if they went into a building or landed outside of it. Party members can also just pop in and out which sucks.
Would be better if part of the town was still allied so you had somewhere obvious for the group to land together.

There are glowing safe zones guarded by allied NPCs. People just don’t use them.
Disagree. It’s my favorite this expansion and my 2nd favorite in the game behind Waycrest Manor.
It helps, too, that Dawnbreaker is extremely fast. Kill the boss on the boat, fly down, kill another boss, fly up, kill the boss on the boat, collect loot. It’s Rookery fast.
Huh.
I never noticed them.
I’ll have to look next time!
I’d say it qualifies as the worst for me due to the amount of bugs in it. I dread going in it because I always think, “geee what bug will I encounter this time?”
the worst dungeons in wow history actually are:
- Violet Hold.
- Oculus.
- Trial of Champion.
Wrath was kinda garb…
