Darkspear Troll Heritage Armor Set Looks Terrible

Yeah I can see why you’d think that, Wood and I are married, I’m at work she’s Haitian and feels just as strongly if not more about the set than I do it’s good having the phone app. Vermax is my BFF for 19yrs been playin wow together since we were 9. Probably looks insane when you put it like that lol. I have no idea who Yookah is though but I’m probably gonna send her a letter in game and become btag friends if she’ll have me, she seems great. I support Btag posting.

Cute story. That’s definitely why you and Vermax have identical battle pets, and all four of you have multiple identical achievement dates spanning several years.

Clearly very few other people think this set is the problem you do if you have to go to these kinds of lengths to make it look like a populous issue.

That is actually why, we’ve had joint account since Battle Net became a thing way back in the day. I added one for Wood about 7yrs ago around when we got engaged. Thankfully I don’t actually need to work very hard at all since the two of them actually care and are also paying customers and by the looks of it there are countless other people who really aren’t happy with the set either. Sorry if it bothers you it kinda just is what it is.

Yes, we’re basically 3 trolls in a very long trench coat lol

My friends want to do panda stuff, so I reactivated and can finally comment on the disappointment that is this set. I’ve waited what… six years for this?! I didn’t think they could mess up this badly. The mask should have been an easy win. The Rush’kah Zekhan wears would have been perfectly fine. A cloth mask that looked like the ones witch doctors use, that goes under the nose, would have been well received. They combined both ideas in the worst way possible.

The belt clipping issues is also really unacceptable. Why is it so small? It’s like they didn’t even design it for trolls.

But what really kills me is the color choice. Why so much brown? I wanted a set that looked like what the troll in the classic loading screen wears. Red with gold would have been better. And the second color should have matched the Darkspear tabard and banner. I’m using the Witch Doctor shield from the trading post a few months ago and it looks terrible with the drab brown colors. It just doesn’t match.

And don’t even get me started on the sword. I don’t think whoever made these decisions knows anything about the Darkspear.

This was the one thing I was looking forward to most, being able to actually dress like a troll with a kilt and a decent mask. But the kilt colors don’t work and the mask is just awful. I would have thought those would have been the easiest things to get right.

I’ve seen you lurking in the background, good to see you finally voicing your opinion. My sub ends in like 20 days so I’m also using my time to comment, while I can. I am working on my own materials, any chance you’re using dicord so I could show you?

Btw would love to hear your opinion about the questline itself.

Yeah I’m on discord. I’d love to see what you are working on.

As for the questline itself, I’m mostly confused. And sad. I’m sad the Darkspear seem to have abandoned the Jungle loa. My headcanon for all my Darkspear characters included reverence for Shirvallah, Hir’eek, Hethiss, Bethekk, and Shadra. My druid in particular I viewed as a follower of Shirvallah until expanding his worship to more than one loa at a time. His flight form, for example, is a blessing from Hir’eek, while Shirvallah still gives him his main combat form. My priest remained loyal to Hethiss and I’ve been trying to get a snake motif going. All he has is the staff, though I guess now he has a new glove he can use as well. The timing is just unfortunate because the snake glove comes with the news that the Darkspear don’t really follow Hethiss anymore, unless I am misunderstanding the quest.

This revelation that the Darkspear dropped the ball on worshipping anyone other than Bwomsamdi is news to me. I thought we were still worshiping the other loa as well as Bwomsamdi. I mean, Vol’jin seemed to be connected to the other loa, so when did this happen? Does it not contradict the lore we got in Cataclysm, especially regarding the druid stuff? When did we drop Gonk?

I’ll be honest, I don’t know anything about the contents of the tabletop RPG books, so I don’t have a preformed idea of Lukou. She and Kevo ya Siti are out of left field for me.

The best part of the quest is when we are at a crafting table making our rush’kahs. We spend two seconds on it. That’s why they look like garbage. It’s lore accurate.

It doesn’t make a lick of sense. Darkspears have so manby shadowhunters among their rank. And they already dropped “the ball” when they lost Echo Isles and stopped giving tribute to Bwonsamdi. Entire Zalazane event was about proving ourselves to him to get back to his graces. This questline is of identical nature. “Oh we stopped worshipping you, sorrieh, champion us again, pl0x”.

If they dropped “the ball” when they left STV then how they tried said shadow hunters. And are you telling me that since Vanilla - late WotLK they didn’t worship any Loa at all? What?

This is how you tell that these quests were written by someone who did surface level research and just wanted to be done with it.
And it’s a pity because I love Rokhan’s voice actor and I wanted to see more of him doing something awesome.

There was no elaboration on importance of Shadow hunters and their role in society, they didn’t reflect on Darkspear’s past, … lackluster questline. Trolls deserved so much more.

Darkspears shoul’ve keep Gurubashi Loa AND get their shadow hunter Loa

https://shadowoftheempires.com/loa/shadowhunter-loa/

These Loas would greatly expand Darkspear theme, and make them unique and stand on their own. These Loas are cool, and add extra flavour. This is why I was so upset over made up Kevo, and mishandled Lukou, and an ookin’ waste that Damabala was.

I’m tired of the way Darkspear players’ patience gets rewarded.

We started WoW as one of the only two displaced populations. We don’t have a real home. Our “main village” was Sen’jin village, an absolute joke compared to the capitals everyone else has. At least Gnomeregan was grand. I used to dream about the Darkspear getting a capital one day, especially after seeing Silvermoon and Exodar come into the picture. Then Cataclysm comes along, and we are finally going to retake our home and give it a makeover. Heck, it’s Cataclysm! What a perfect opportunity to say some land rose above sea level and Echo Isles got even bigger. Then we get what we got. Still the worst hometown in the game. Even Bilgewater Harbor is better, and they poofed that place out of nowhere.

But we did have the Darkspear rebellion, which imo was the highlight of the Darkspear experience. After Vol’jin became Warchief, the coolest thing to ever happen to us, I couldn’t wait to see what he would do with the mantle. Then he sits out all WoD and when he finally has a chance to lead, he lets Sylvanas take command and then he just dies. They built us up just to knock us down, it felt like.

Then we wait the longest (apart from neutral races) to get heritage armor, and they can’t even give us a decent looking mask. Was this so too much to ask for? I’m at the point where I have nothing to look forward to, and I never want to get my hopes up, because Blizzard underdelivers for the Darkspear every single time.

I’m not even looking forward to Vol’jin’s return. It’s taking forever, but at this point I am expecting the worst. He’s just going to lose all of his flavor and become another Light deity. He won’t be the Shadowhunter he was in life with cool voodoo or hex powers. He’ll just be troll Jesus with powers that are indistinguishable from Velen’s or Anduin’s. Lots of yellow glowy stuff. That’s what I am expecting.

Welcome back brother, and thank you for standing with us. The black market AH sells a back piece with a better color scheme I’m wearing it now, but it isn’t cheap.

You speak the truth brother, there’s a reason actual Troll players as disappointed by all this. Because it is in fact a disappointment, the lack of effort, love and creativity that’s gone into writing and designing for the Darkspear has been noticed and with the Heritage quest done now there’s really nothing on the horizon for us excepts Vol’Jins rebirth and with no easter eggs dropped during the heritage quest there’s a good chance they either forgot or want us to forget which is a very bad sign.

I’d say it’s been completely non existent since BFA and before that we had next to radio silence for a while. (ok fine 1 quest chain in SLs)

I’ve been waiting for this guy to come back for so long, the buildup has been immense and I’ll bet dollars to nickels they’re just gonna drop this whole story and if they don’t they’ll just bring him back quick and put him right in the backyard.

It’s a colossal insult.

Losing Vol’jin was devastating to me. I can’t begin to relate to how the Night Elves must have felt with losing Darnassus since Darkspears never had a capital city to begin with. All we had was Vol’jin, and they tossed him aside and never made things right with the troll players after that.

They follow it up by killing Rastakhan.

They killed Hir’eek and Shadra too just for funsies, which to me, the jungle loa are like my Elune. At least we rescued them in Shadowlands, but now we are told we don’t even worship them anymore. Where did this come from?

The Other Side? Not even a zone, and barely featured trolls. Why did we get Manastorms and not trolls? Our afterlife is just a tiny pocket dimension in Ardenweald? Color me unimpressed.

Vol’jin died before the War of Thorns. We’ve been waiting longer for something to come of it. I’d let Echo Isles sink to the depths of the 12 ft deep ocean floor it rests on if we could get an apology tour like the Night Elves got. I want a troll version of Bel’ameth.

Or at the very least, a rush’kah my shaman can wear that doesn’t look stupid.

My wife always says I haven’t been the same since Vol’Jin died. We’ve been screwed around every corner and this Heritage Set and Quest was their chance to make it right, instead they paraded their sloppy afterthoughts around as if they’d done something amazing. You’re right on point with everything you said man, honestly it should be it’s own post, we need all the help we can get out here if we want to have even the slightest chance at getting this stuff fixed.

They literally started rectifying their Vol’Jin mistake with that really compelling quest chain, now what? They’re just going to act like none of that happened? What gives?

Exactly! If we abandoned out Loa like the quest said why do the Darkspear have sooo many Shadow Hunters and from where are they drawing their power?

Yup Dambala too, because for some reason Muezala bringing him back early somehow makes him evil? Makes absolutely no sense. The quests and armor set were such an unbelievable let down.

I’d love to see them start rebuilding with huge blocks like they used to. Shame Blizz decided Trolls don’t matter… I wonder why??

Yup and they were ignored just like Vol’Jin not even a peep about a status update in the Heritage quest? Gimme a break, no one is gonna convince me this wasn’t the result of a lack of effort. Hir’eek, Shadra and Vol’Jin deserved better.

Yeah you would think a people who created such a massive world spanning empire and made such marvelous structures would be pulling itself up by its bootstraps by now.
