Darker more mature tones

I mean, they did have him guided by Velen, which actually inverses the problem, how do you apprentice with the 35k+ year old man who once lead 1/3rd of a planetary government and watched most of his race succumb to corruption and spent the later half of their life fighting to survive, and still come out a complete joke?

C’mon Anduin, the old Draenei has more spine than you do!

Not with the current team in control.
It wont happen.

They cant even keep true to lore and make good stories now.

Much less make compelling mature tones

I’ll be honest, I gave up too early in DF’s story to gauge Chromie completely. Even then, Chromie’s previews are a big part of why I gave up. No thanks to all that.

TWW was no different. I got up to Anduin’s emotional parts and my partner hit me with the “I don’t want to do this anymore. This is bad.” Can’t say I blame them. Neither of us have tried the story since.

The war aspect has shifted from faction war to fighting off conquerer cults like the primalists, void cults, etc. There is still war, but it’s not the war that WoW is known for. Most of the forces are after the world’s soul. Once the saga is wrapped up, I have a hard time figuring out what else they could do except bring back faction wars.

Redoing the campaign while lvling alt and I can’t stand Anduin. Didn’t he used to look different in Shadowlands? He has insecure energy now and it annoys me. I don’t follow the story too closely but his character seemed so different before. I hate his modern crew cut and sculpted facial hair.

Why couldn’t they just use a new character? Someone we don’t have years of play time with? Anduin didn’t deserve this.

Look at the dude’s role models. Mostly Varian and some other leaders but come on. If anything he should’ve come out of Shadowlands even stronger, more determined.

But naw they did him dirty. Next expansion they’ll make him some god tier leader, the foreshadowing couldn’t be anymore telling. And then what? We stop complaining because now he’s better?

You can’t unwrite Shadowlands but you can pretend it doesn’t exist. Unfortunately TWW won’t let us.

I’m really bad at following the story in wow and really only pay attention during the cut scenes at the beginning of expac campaigns. I thought this Anduin was a new character, who I hated on sight lol. He was wayyy better in Shadowlands. I’m sad now he went from hot to not. Swiping left on new Anduin.

You said you hadn’t played d4

Exile’s Reach was added in Shadowlands.

How many people do you know of who come out of years of mental and physical torture as “stronger”?

Nah, diablo 3 was plenty grim dark but the tone was different. It was less horror and more hero to the rescue.

Doesn’t help that diablo 3 used a new engine so the graphics were brighter with more particle effects. What made diablo scary previously is that it relied on the limitation of their time. So it kept things darker physically to save up on memory.

Kinda like the reason silent Hill was covered in fog. Just to save graphical power and memory.

None?

I also don’t know any high level leaders who had to come back and lead their people. Or anyone who’s been through war to the extent Anduin has. Or anyone who’s had to make “kingly” decisions.

Do you?

Having a cool dad, going through war, or being royalty

Doesn’t ignore the point i raised, you made the nonsense claim that he should be “stronger” because of what he went through… how?

No it’s just a point you’re ignoring. I countered. You chose to ignore.

Different perspectives. This conversation is stopping here.

Ok

Exactly. That’s not very dark. Plus it was made to be super easy. You can plow through dozen at a time and not die. You never had a fear that you might die at anytime while playing it and everything was way more well lit up and a lot less bloody then the first two were. Even the books Blizzard releases are less dark themed. Like in the Diablo book where the guy in the possessed armour rips someone’s throat out and blood sprays all over everyone around. And then he tore someone limb from limb while they were screaming. In their book they had that. Or in another book where a guy exploded blood and guts everywhere and a bunch of spiders came out and started killing everyone near by. Now their books are very different themed.

I mean, we still have body horror in diablo 3. The dogs of the witch doctors are literal humans that their organs were torn out and they sewed a dog head to the body.

But yes, the tone was different. It leaned more into cosmic battles than the horror aspect and again, this was because of the limitations of the old games. But even the old games, you start to just teleport everywhere and nuke rooms, so killing things faster was always was a diablo thing.

Blizzard misreads the topic title as “Drakier” and sends us back to the Dragon Isles for more dragons.

de facto EA DF content imo.

I’m a woman IRL, and have been married almost 25 years.

Yeah, you’re one of those guys. Everything you say has zero worth once that fact has been established (and it just was)
