Darker more mature tones

Honestly I’ll take the DF back over this. All this underground “stuff” royally peeves me off. Keep them dang DF caverns and I’ll go run that content again.

Diablo IV is that way, if you want to play in a wet basement where everybody is miserable all the time.

He doesn’t cry in the BFA cinematic. In fact, his army is losing, he’s surrounded by death and hopelessness, and he stays calm, uses a mass rez.

Idk, his eyes are looking pretty wet man

I don’t see tears. I see a dude that’s exerted from battle that literally drives an enemy into the ground then calls on the power of light.

Because I’d rather look at a hot male elf than a female elf?

It’s a fantasy game. I can play wtf-ever I want.

I couldn’t agree more, OP. I was recently thinking this myself. OG wow felt dangerous and now I feel like it’s Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

Still not sure what you on about, grandma. And I apologize for saying what I said first, it’s not becoming to speak that way to elderly people. I am sorry.

Can you not go out of your way to try and troll each and every person that you come across here on the forums. And no. that person is the odd one, who asked them to say what their gender was here. That’s right, no one. I’m not asking yours am I? Are you asking mine? Is anyone asking anyone’s here? Is anyone asking anything about what they are in real life here? No. WoW is to escape and that is that. Not to go back into being exactly who and what you are in real life. They said what their gender was when no one asked.

I’ll give it a try then, since it’s coming from you.

Feel free to watch youtube videos, trailers, etc.

Did D3 have some light/silly moments? Absolutely.

For all of D4’s faults, I feel it definitely hit the dark tone pretty well. I wouldnt buy it or anything purely based on my word.

eh?

Anduin is literally trying to figure out his place in the world. He had Greymane guiding him, but he also has the lack of a war that divided the factions because he is friends with Baine and Thrall. He doesn’t see the “savages” that were the Horde before because he has been raised differently. They are people all wanting to survive. It’s not the same upbringing as Varian.

Then he is thrust into a world war at a young age and has no idea what to do because they are not his enemies. He sees friends pitted against one another and the outcome is the same, death. He has advisors that have seen war, but their views are not the same as him, he is in constant turmoil on the decisions he makes because they all lead back to the same place.

Then He gets kidnapped into the Shadowlands to be made into a slave to do the bidding of the Jailer to infiltrate sacred ground and is aware of his actions but cannot stop them because of the domination magic, basically he is mind r*ped. He is not sure if he enjoyed the violence or if it was the magic, so there is great conflict within him.

Now we see him accepting who he is and it takes time to recover from those scars. He is growing into the man he wants to be, not the man his father or Genn wanted him to be, he is finally forging his own path on his own terms. This takes time and is great story.

So to anyone who thinks Anduin is some cry baby, I clearly think you have never actually dealt with any sort of trauma before or lack any sort of empathy and just want the same thing over and over.

Anduin is our best chance finally getting back to a strong male character that isn’t just driven by revenge. An actual hero.

There’s a certain narcissistic cohort which has taken over modern day game production who requires so much affirmation and positivity that they’re terrified of crossing any no-no barriers like a kindergartener. This was evident with Veilguard and the sharp criticism that each scene feels like HR is in the room and now with WOW that everyone has to process some kind of trauma like they’re in modern day America.

That’s a good interpretation. Unfortunately it’s your own personal interpretation.

I come from books like Mistbourne, Game of Thrones, Magician’s Apprentice, and so on. How they molded me to understand fantasy is different enough from WoW to soil my interpretation.

Bottom line, WoWs story has sucked for me personally for a while. Anduin is not a good or fun character to follow. Thrall’s story was better and it wasn’t even all that great.

City of Threads is pretty dark.

And I’m not sure what you mean by mature, especially since kids play this game.

I don’t think its a rating thing… not entirely. Its more WoW doesn’t feel grounded and believable anymore. It leads to everything feeling like there is zero stakes like a Saturday morning cartoon.

Don’t get me wrong its felt this way for a long time now. Its just… well I don’t know it feels like its getting worse?
