WoW feels like a teen fantasy/fiction. And there’s nothing wrong with that by any means.
Where it is wrong [subjectively] is the audience. Are we writing for teenagers or are we writing for older generations? Do we read Harry Potter, Court of Roses and Thorns, or Twilight? Or do we read Game of Thrones?
I think unanimously people love Game of Thrones, yet you’ll be hard pressed to find many folks who love Twilight.
I wish I could read Game of Thrones.
Tons of people love twilight…
I think they need to restart the story with another game… a warcraft 4. In game character building has utterly failed. I don’t really think they have a successful example from ingame story telling.
If I squint Z’noth but hes more a force then a character
Unanimously? To the point of GoT? I know few who hate GoT and plenty who hate Twilight (Myself included lol)
I presume you mean he’s taking too long to write it. Or it was a quip that only one of the books is named that, not the series.
[Edit] Or you were serious. In which case I agree.
Yes I do, he left the line during one of the wars in the Middle East because Jesus told him to put down his weapon. Everything that happened after that one moment is horrifying and I do not feel comfortable putting it down
I hope he is ok, but when I left him he was super suicidal but not in a direct way, more like he just didn’t care if he died or not
hugs
You don’t need specific tones, you just need good writing.
“I will never serve” is not good writing.
lmao.
I am just assuming at this point he has no intention of finishing the book series.
When i say darker i mean the art style and when i say more mature tones i mean more war and gore and death honestly. A bit more realistic in those aspects. I also feel the base game is lacking immersion in some ways but thats a whole different topic. Ive found dialogue UI and chatty NPC helps with that alot.
It’s happening in Azj Kahet.
Has always been cartoony
Are you certain we played the same game?
Also for the people that are bringing up that shadowlands had a dark tone I 100% agree and I genuinely loved the artstyle and zones in shadowlands. The problem with shadowlands and i think most people would agree is how poorly executed the main story was and what they did to Arthas and the Helm of domination. Many agree that they kind of butchered the lore in shadowlands.
At some point Anduin needs some kind of training arc to leave his current pathetic meek persona behind and remember he’s a guy, his current nonstop crying and hopelessness iteration is just annoying.
Regarding “darker” tones, some1 did correctly point out that in order for that to happen, people have to care about the characters but who could honestly care about “The Titan Titan’s crEaToOoR” or “The Giga VoidGaWD”, like, I think the current “team” just has no idea of what to do and can only come up with token checkbox characters like Faurin or w/e her name is.
Yes it has I agree but im talking about for example the Scourge and the corpses everywhere that you find and the quests like when Garrosh said to Sylvanas “watch your clever mouth B***h” that was such a cool and gritty line that noone expected. Things like that. They don’t have a lot of things similar to that in the newer expansions. I wish they would add things like that back to the game.
That’s kind of the opposite of maturity. That’s like teenage melodrama phase. That comment shops at Spencer’s and writes poetry about its twisted soul.
A more mature story would be how all the factions realize endless war serves no purpose and they work together because the resources of Azeroth are super abundant and there’s and plenty for everyone. It would be about political intrigue, personal growth, and the pain of compromise for the greater good.
“War, Death, Darkness” is the antithesis of a mature storyline. I think what you meant to say was you want a gritty, dramatic storyline. Like re-reinventing Macbeth, sprinkled with some gratuitous violence and rating pushing suggestive content, right? Something that tickles the testosterone and lights up the underdeveloped hippocampus?
I’ve felt this way since Pandaland came out. I believe that expansion was very unnecessary. But that’s just my opinion.
Yes that idea is certainly mature but also maturity is understanding that war death and gore are also real and does happen which i have not really seen in the game lately aside from dalaran which was an amazing direction Imo as well as the Aarthi fighting off the Nerubians in hallowfall. But yes I also would like a more gritty edgy theme to the game war within was a good start but still comes off a bit light on that aspect.
Today I learned 45 is elderly.
Then again, 12 year old boys are never accused of being intelligent or wise, are they? I suppose to you that would seem old. Go to bed, little guy, or you might be late for school tomorrow.
I am 45, as well. And some of the stuff that I see people arguing about or being offended by it just plain hilarious.
