If DR skins don’t get locked, that doesn’t mean VE Paladins will definitely come. What’s it going to do, make the people already asking for it ask for it more?
Locking out just Paladin is much better than it being locked to just Hunters. Still, I’d prefer it not be locked just because it gives another request the illusion of more room to ask.
I mean I’d prefer it if VEs didn’t get options at the expense of BEs visual uniqueness, we don’t always get what we want and arguably if they don’t lock Paladin out it gives more credibility for VEs to keep picking away at another BE theme that is not theirs, and I would rather not give them an in no matter how small simply because some people dislike locking a single class from the options when alternatively we could be looking at just hunters anyways, this at least gives Blizzard an out to still include the options for more than just hunters but address apprehension over Paladin convos.
You’re talking about dark ranger options not being allowed to be used for a class.
What would stop them from imposing the same thing in paladins?
It’s the same thing.
Or towards dwarves and Wildhammer options. They’re a race that shouldn’t have access to any mage like class and never had paladins. If they’re willing to do that to dark rangers why wouldn’t they be willing to do it to others?
Adding a class is very different than restricting options for one already there. Which is what you’re talking about.
That isn’t the same thing.
This would take away from blood elves options that already exist.
Hero classes seem to stand apart. Not sure they’re implemented the same way.
Though fair isuppose.
Another thing I’m not a fan of.
Dark Rangers/Darkfallen should be able to be many classes.
That is another point. Undead paladins exist in several places already.
Actually, that’s a good point. If DR options are locked from Paladins, I could easily see Blizzard turning around and adding Paladin to VEs, but locking them from picking the Void options. So locking it from Paladins wouldn’t really help with that much imo.
I mean this is probably the best argument so far imo but still.
That implies they’ll ever address VEs secondary theme in a capacity that isn’t just RP tools / live and let live. They would have to to put stock in the HE theme for VEs to the point that they think of new classes just for HEs for them, you think they would do that?
Its the same thing then w Mags arguments on Farstrider tattoos that again VEs have to take an L somewhere and let BEs have something to themselves, just like w Farstriders not likely in any way shape or form being the type of Elf to join VEs, neither would Blood Knights which are a BE thing not a HE thing, not that the 6 Alliance HEs warrant discussion on class additions anyways tbh.
So perhaps Farstrider tattoos will be the place BEs get a win, since locking Paladin is apparently not the move despite the alternative theory going around rn is its just for hunters which arguably is not any sort of win for BEs losing visual uniqueness at all.
I mean they’ve already said in an interview that they’re considering new classes for races, and specifically pointed out void elves and paladin.
So Blizzard appears to be considering such things. This would as Somand points out give them that opportunity without forcing it to be void related for void elves.
Though honestly I’m more thinking of how bad this would be for races that already have options finding them locked off for no reason.
Well, the door to this one is already open to VEs through Alleria, the first VE. Besides, that wouldn’t be a second visual theme.
Personally if I had to choose, I’d let Ranger markings be BE only over DRs not getting Paladins, because at least that doesn’t set a precedent for restrictions.
I mean half the HE posters go on about “blood elves should get 20 themes we just want all of their main theme!” all the time, and we’ve still got nothing for it.
So I’d rather not get into this fantasy idea of there’s just so many ideas for BEs when we’ve not seen a single one save for losing exclusivity over our main theme.
To that end I have no issues w Felblood options, I was just offering an alternative I just don’t see both happening
It’s not really shooting low it’s just being realistic as opposed to getting wrapped up on so many ideas meanwhile what we do have is being stolen out from under us.
I’d rather phrase things realistically to blizzard so they take BE requests seriously and 50 theme additions doesn’t seem realistic. So I try to emphasize options while phrasing it in a way I have no issue w any of the options put forward as any of them address the concerns of a second visually distinct theme.
