Oh yeah, this is a good point. The customizations really wouldn’t match up in this instance. Though one could argue it could be ‘worgen style’ but where you wouldn’t have two forms, just two models with entirely different customizations… but in that case, why?
Realistically, it does feel like it makes more sense to apply to blood elves, since that’s their model, and they can have access to the blood elf kit and HOPEFULLY extras too. Plus, blood elves might gain more gothic hairstyles in exchange and use them without having to be DR. Or red eyes without having to use the undead skins.
I would love the idea of adding a more gothic and/or fel aesthetic to the BE customizations, which could then be mixed and matched with the regular ones like VE can now. Revisit that initial edginess from BC, with a modern flare (and, ideally, a story justification to go with it–like, hey, guess what, these light-wielders are getting a little dogmatic, so some of the Sin’dorei go back to siphoning fel magic in an effort to resist the tyranny of the Light).
I would also love it if WoW took a page from FFXIV and, instead of making separate allied races from now on, made unique customization options for the base race that were unlockable through questlines or achievements. San’layn and Dark Ranger would both be great for this. You take an existing BE character, complete the achievement, and are “turned” into a DR or SL. No need to visit the barbershop–that character gets a free makeover with the new options as part of the achievement reward. (Other existing characters on the account could then visit the barbershop for the new options, or complete the questline themselves, and new characters would have them available at creation.)
EDIT: The unlock scenarios could also be a “relive the past” type thing, like the BE heritage armor quest, in the event there is no “current” lore justification for new Dark Rangers or San’layn being made.
Provided it is open to both Forsaken and NE. After all it would be easy enough to explain that some of those raised now regret the actions they took against their own people and are living as outcasts trying to make amends for their betrayal. And it’s not like the Forsaken force newly raised to join them, they are given a choice after all.
You’re just full of so many good ideas haha! I love this tons. Yes yes yes.
Personally I don’t see why not. I know many are opposed to it though, but I’m not a big fan of faction barrier to begin with. Bring on the night elf dark rangers (and vampyr? )
I would actually renew my subscription, if they allowed us to have undead elves/Dark rangers. Not to change topic, but undead Paladins would be cool as well. There is no reason we can’t have this, besides laziness.
Good because then since I’m online now I’ll be the one to say I would be against it, I don’t really like to blur the faction lines and with everything that’s already been blurred as it is, I would rather another thing from Horde not be taken and shared with Alliance.
I do still support Horde having Dark Rangers or Dark Ranger options as I have said previously though, just not Alliance, I have told Fall the same thing about San’layn and being something shared with both sides because San’layn are a Horde thing.
Regardless, I am happy for your support. You have every right to feel as you do and I do see where you’re coming from. It’s good to be proud of your faction.
Literally defeats the entire purpose of wanting a second visual theme to offset the loss of visual uniqueness lost to VEs with their second visual theme.
Yeah I just logged online a bit ago and seen the new 9.1.5 post so I’m thinking that’s all for now and it kind of sucks because I was hoping for some better stuff for Nightborne, more fixes for Nightborne and of course new stuff for Blood Elves since Void Elves keep getting our stuff but maybe next pass, hopefully at least.
