Dance Of The Dead 2023 - Oct 20th & 21th - 25 Million Gold In Prizes

Nobody here is ‘hating’ on anything, but on a private discord where messages can be cropped, edited, and deleted on a whim by biased parties? No, right here will do just find. Public accountability is important.

You mean public bashing of an event. Nice try.

@Hopeshield

I don’t know any of the staff besides my guild master;

Call me old-fashioned, but before a time in Discord, this is how respectable people have a constructive conversation. I’ll admit I was a little pointed with my disappointment in my initial post, but the negligence in everything felt almost malicious to a point where I felt ‘hurt’.

I also really don’t agree with privatizing criticism, this era it’s way too easy to spin things to people’s liking.

I feel this way, and it deserves to be seen, plainly. If you’re scared about effecting your future reputation, than go proceed in the future aware of this and make good on potential promises and learn. I’d be glad to attend future events if the organizers acknowledged where they slipped up and would do better for all!

but even saying that feels like I’m being accusatory so please don’t think I think anyone did something horrible or evil here, it was just very unpleasant to exist in the space provided.

sheeeeeesh, lol.

From the first drop of drama I’ve seen from this event, you are the one (Who’s not on the mod team) who has seen the truth and been respectful through this entire thing. I salute you. Thank you, Hopeshield. :saluting_face:

Awww thanks. :heart:

I’m super glad the event was fun for you guys, Hopeshield and co.

It wasn’t for us, to a point where we felt used like fodder for other peoples’ enjoyment.

Criticism isn’t bashing.

Negligence of this matter needs to be addressed publicly. Again, 30+ players were offended in this. That’s a pretty sizeable portion of moonguard’s roleplay community once you start considering word-of-mouth.

That said – I think all the corners and angles of this has sinceforth been expressed as professionally and cleanly as possible, and me personally adding anymore discussion to the matter is unproductive without giving the hosts any time to formulate a response. That feels unfair to them. I do not mean to overwhelm Ban and her party with complaints, so I will leave the ball dropped here and wait to see if any response is offered out of respect for them.

Why does it need to be addressed publicly when it seems it only happened to the people in your guild? Who else gains from having it addressed publicly? It seems you’re just trying to create negative talk about the event by insisting that this is done in an open forum where any Joe-Blow can see and comment on it. (Myself included). If you really cared about fixing this for the future you’d carry on this conversation with the organizors of the event in an actual dialog and not forum posts.

My reputation is just fine. We had a great time in the event. And criticism is fine. But when a single guild dogpiles complaints, it no longer is expressing criticism, it is clearly a blatant attempt to sabotage a server event because they didn’t like the outcome.

Because people have been burned more than once. One time is an accident but when it happens a lot it is indicative of malice or a bigger problem.

I’m sorry.

Voicing disappointment in how things are managed is not ‘public bashing’. Do you think there should be no public accountability because it doesn’t favor the side you’re on?

As I pointed out to your guildmate, there is a major difference between criticisms, than what your GUILD MEMBER JIE MENG posted in his giant wall of trash. Also, your Commander didn’t want to rp with “fascist” characters, and, she got her wish. No point in having sour grapes.

RP was not wanted… Nor was PvP and yet we were still counted among each other numerically and so the event’s balance didn’t reflect that.

I understand what you say about the numbers and why they feel that way. But we only gave what was wanted by not having to “force RP”. Not to have a repeat of the trash-talking in Conquest.

End of the day, your feelings are valid. And it won’t be an issue next year.

@Trazciar
Publicly advertised events get addressed publicly.

Accountability is pretty important if you’re trying to be a public figure.

I personally do not believe, in this case particularly, providing this criticism in a place where the narrative could be controlled privately… and your defense that providing criticism like this is an assault upon your characters’ only raises my alarm.

I will give you a tip, my friends: The natural, human, empathic thing to do in your situation is not to accuse the party who was hurt and burnt, but to apologize and start reaching for amends. Not doing that seems oddly defensive to a point of suspicion.

But none of you are actual hosts of this event, only fellow participants, so I do not hold these responses from you all towards Ban and her party of coordinators.

Still, it seems really odd that you’re not concerned about the how your peers feel. Maybe this wasn’t a welcoming community after all.

@Persefani – Thank you very much for that. I appreciate you. :slight_smile:

–Edit: I’m also sneepy, so that’s the last time I’ll be baited.

When the organizers have proved to us that they will give us assurances in private, but change the story for other people, and then come out of these situations where they harm others with nothing to show for it in public? Yeah, they are due for some public comments.

If they want our full thoughts in private we will happily give it to them. But this expectation that we suffer silently and let others fall into that same trap, isn’t realistic.

If you don’t like that we are using the avenues freely available to us to provide feedback and community discussion on how the event is run on it’s public page… you do not need to engage with it.

People don’t change unless they are made accountable for actuating that change. What happened was plain as day, we were strung along to maintain Alliance participation so that the Dance of the Dead could even put on this farce of an event, and we were used as canon fodder. My friends do not deserve that, no one else deserves to be treated like that. End of story.

Ask yourself, do you think the 7 or so you dropped out would have made a difference? Hell, we dropped just as many if not more, and the two groups went their separate ways… We had our mission, and you had yours. You would have had the same number, do you think that truly would have made a difference? Though, at this point, its neither here nor there. At the end of the day, your complaints on a public forum only show you are bad sports, and can’t handle losing well.

The concern was brought up and ignored. No blame is on you and yours specifically and so rather it lays upon those who ignored it.

Yeah, not your friend, your a stranger to me.

Though I’ll give you a tip. An old college professor of mine told me once. If you have a complaint, say it in a way that people will want to listen to it.

Obviously you’ve fail at that.
