Dagran Thaurissan II - a line that I didn't like, and an ill-considered thread title

The giant mosh pit is kinda cool, but it’s basically just a giant ball of rotten flesh. Do we retain a sense of smell in the afterlife?

That dork of a dwarf doesn’t strike me as the type who’d be about that life.

Wa Shi Tong’s Library, or something similar, for a real deep cut.

Dwarves do not go to heaven when they die, they go back to earth.

There is a picture of a beardless male dwarf…

Hunt it down and gank it like the rest…

A few folks in this discussion need to realise that what they are stating as fact is actually just an opinion.

Literature is all about interpretation, with context being king.

If you cannot read literature then you cannot interpret it, hence it needs to be comprehendible. This is why fantasy literature is not published in fantasy languages, and why common language is used.

You don’t have to twist your brain in thinking that every book of fantasy literature would be in a different language - unless specified, the language is whatever the reader interprets it as.

If something is left for the reader to interpret, then the reader cannot be wrong unless they insist their interpretation is the only correct one.

Regarding Blizz, they are using a literal description - heaven. It is simply easy for the reader to interpret. There is no correct interpretation, the reader decides what the character is referring to. This makes it accessible to those that know the lore and those that don’t.

simply, you resume like soyboy darkiron.

In any case, IDK where WoW’s lore is placing in a world formal and brute warriors, and powerful magicians, and not bookworms who never came out or know the grass.

After all, there is nothing to despise the lore of the dark iron dwarves, especially since Moira was kidnapped, only to have a Stockholm complex.

I cant disagree that its weird to use incorrect terms for the afterlife now that weve already been there…

But im not upset at the idea of distancing ourselves from the shadowlands either.
Because the shadowlands as an afterlife really does suck.

Valhalla has become just as over used as Heaven in my opinion so why not go with something different.

They did but given the character it does not have to be something that every civilization understands. If Blizzard is trying to build him as a bookish character I would go with more obscure references to further push that image.

Nah. It’s just a bad cliche. No matter what word you use, the whole “did I just die and go to [insert word here]” sounds ridiculous.

It’s one of my least favorites and doesn’t make him sound nerdy, just dumb.

Something more simple like, “So many books! I could spend lifetimes in here!” would have even sounded better. And that’s just generic.

Dagran isn’t the next Khadgar, that’s for sure. lol

we get it, you don’t like religion

We get it, you’re just here to troll. But it’s not very good trolling. lol

Edit to add: Eddend/Gotnov, you’re cooler than this! Don’t give into the dark side!

Tidesages, in a world where there are literally no actual tides built into the game. Per the story, we just plug in our imaginative interpretation. Blizz needs to get on it’s world building so we can go beach combing when the tides are out.

i’m not here to troll i’m just saying that you not liking the phrase “have i died and gone to [somewhere]” might suggest that you don’t believe in an afterlife. sorry for being combative in my wording i am just curious about you

Not at all. I’m Catholic. But I’m also a writer and was an English major. Bad clichés bother me.

i’m sorry did my meanness kill the thread
oh well
i guess it ran its course
i don’t personally have a problem with the line but it’s okay if some of ya’ll do
i think i might have thought of it in the other timeline that i time traveled from actually so i’m personally sorry to yall that don’t like it

Yeah, I don’t really like the simple one but am not bothered by this bad cliche. Overall it gives the feeling of awkward teenager, that is okay with me. What if they give the option for you to “sigh in disgust”. They gave a lot of fun dialog options in DF and this could be one for TWW.

I’d rather “facepalm and sigh.” LOL

I totally agree with your sentiment but technically speaking the word heaven is derived from old english, the new testament was originally written in a form of Greek.

I thought it was interesting enough to share for people who are interested in that sort of thing.

That could be an option, why not make this fun for players. If given some love I think Dagran could be a fun character.

I think he could too. But that phrase makes me want to never engage with him again. Doing something with it, acknowledging the bad cheese or whatever, should be a thing.
