Dagran Thaurissan II - a line that I didn't like, and an ill-considered thread title

I feel like Shadowlands gets misconstrued a bit, because what we took part in wasn’t ALL there is to the afterlife in WoW. The experiences we had were in the “utilitarian” part of the afterlife. I think that souls have their own personal afterlives, but specific ones are called to help in the functional parts because of the lives they lived. It’s not like every soul goes to one of the four realms we experienced, just special ones that are pulled aside.

exactly. sorry if shadowlands gave the impression ever that there were only five afterlife locations, the numerous portals hanging outside oribos and some of the dialog of like the attendants and arbiters and other characters said differently as intended.

Earth is used constantly in WoW, despite the fact the name existing because of our world. Not Azeroth.

“Storm, Earth, and Fire” in Azeroth should be “Storm, Azeroth, and Fire” because the term Earth only exists because of the planet.

Blizzard could take this as a chance to have players engage with a character and “teach” him things. Dagran has lead a sheltered life, it is up to us adventures, champions to beef up his non-book education.

I would love for whoever did the Welcome to the Machine quest line to work on more quest like that. So good in my opinion.

Hey kid, let me tell you about a little place called bael modan and why the explorer’s league won’t look you in the eye when you ask how they got their museum pieces.

They did that with Anduin and the Troll Druid in WPL. If it’s done well, it’s fun. But if it’s done poorly, it’s just obnoxious and annoying. I’m not sure I have enough faith these days. lol

Ah yes, the hell where you’re stripped of all memories and personality to be turned into a mindless robot. Classic heaven.

… about that…

I’ll have you know that the robot king of hell and his infinite torture palace is a staple of many religions

“Heaven” does make sense in this game. Heaven can mean a pleasant afterlife which is up for interpretation or it can mean the space above you.

Same as in the real world. Heaven isn’t religious despite being in the bible and other books irl.

Just like God and “gods”.

I didn’t say that. I’m talking about the bad cliche. Not some religion issue.

The bad cliche doesn’t make sense in this game to me, because it’s probably one of the worst ones to ever use in writing— especially video game writing, which is already bad and we’re supposed to like this character, not roll our eyes and think he’s dumb.

You might be anti-Christian, but I think the writers of Blizzard was just using the words heaven and hell in the vernacular sense, 'eh?

Should have said Valhalla instead. Drink mead and get into fights with your ancestors. That feels more Dwarf lol.

Should just replace the word “Heaven” with ‘Shadowlands’ since canonically everyone knows about it now, especially someone obsessed with knowledge.

Problem solved.
