Current State of Mythic+

Because it enables people to have a pathway of progression that exceeeds 1-2 key levels at best. In the current state, you’re gonna find a lot of people will stop playing until the 12 affix is removed or changed.

The whole problem, is multiplicative scaling on top of multiplicative scaling is a terrible way to generate a difficulty curve. All I’m saying, is there are alternatives to that.

If you want people to have more key levels, remove the +12 affix, and now you have two key levels.

Whatever alternative cannot be fake “need a key” to succeed thing.

Half scaling, half timer reduction can be something, but again, people will hit a wall at some point.

And as timer decreases, you’ll need more stops(because of more reckless pulls), running into the issue with your complaint again.

The 1% are the players who don’t unsub and never will, as well as spending more on cosmetics in the store.

100 people spending $100 each is more money than 500 people spending $15 each.

The point isn’t to “not have a wall”. The point is for that wall to be further down the line so that there is an actual progression pathway for people to engage sufficiently in the game mode outside of premades.

You can easily do that by say, nerf scaling above 10 to +5% and nothing else needs to change.

Then, they’ll hit whatever their limit is (right now) and be bored again.

Need more? make scaling +3%, and we’ll probably be up to the 25s?

Numbers are arbitrary placeholders. Lets rephase this:

The discussion is about people who previously found lower than the top bracket to be fun but the top bracket to sweaty.

And now theyre upset because theyre playing in a bracket below the top bracket even though they never played in the top.bracket before?

But those 4s also fit into the brackets of 6-8 right? And keep you away from the 9-10s…isnt that the same as?:

Not seeing the issue. You have the same bracket level to play in, the same progress, but YOU actively CHOOSE to not play the harder difficulties in the same bracket and relegate yourselves to the easiest level in that bracket…for?..an arguments sake? Lol

Same bracket exists, same level of difficulty before, same upgrading. But you wont do it. Got it

And some people have guilds/friends.

If you do that, people will spend more time playing the game until they hit that point. Back to my original point, its better for retention.

Notice that right now you have too many multipliers on top of one another, and the steeper they are, the more the playerbase collapses into smaller brackets, which leads to the current impressions of the state of the game mode. If the increments are smaller, this is dilluted. So yeah, you can “fix” it by stretching the increments.

This is when you go down to your local Tractor Supply and buy some skill so you can continue to progress.

Whats the difference between your pug hitting a wall and someone puggings 12s right now?

I’m not a fan of the +12 affix or the affix removals (essentially ) at +12.

Unchanging wasteland sounds incredibly dull.

No longer push weeks vs dead weeks, people have 4x? or more playtime for the same content.

Guy equates anything below 10 providing a myth vault with just logging in and looting your mailbox.

Can’t and shouldn’t be taken seriously.

What’s the success rate for 12 pugs right now? How many have you tried/done, individually? How many do you find in queue? How many that are not metahunting? “How are these things better or worse for the game?”, is the question you probably should be asking. Because this is practically what I’m talking about. People’s attention span is increasingly lower. Most people that hit a wall as steep and sudden, will play something else instead. How is that good for the game?

Those other things usually are alts and that’s not a bad thing at all. There’s not many people who are only stuck with a single player.

We’ve already gotten the m+ statistics showing how many people actually hit above certain breakpoints. These changes aren’t going to shift those numbers a whole terrible lot. There’s really not that much of a change.

The question you should be asking is “how can i make a season, actually last a season instead of 3 weeks”. People getting frustrated and quitting is no different than people capping out and being bored and quitting.

Should be easier than doing +16 or 17s in s4.

I see them listed more often at least.

It should show up more often than old high keys.

Anticipating a 20% success rate though if I don’t make groups myself.

But say you lower scaling, now what’s preventing people from reconvening at the equivalent +12. And they’ll get there with maybe one more week tops.

This was the agenda for Blizzard. M+ has been a plague on this game since it’s inception. M+ was basically just handing out gear for years, and I think it was causing players to quit a lot quicker.

MMO progression is supposed to be a slow burn. Turning the end game into Diablo was probably just a bad move on Blizzard’s part.

WoW was always a raid focused game for the endgame. I think they are trying to get back to that.

you win, let the gear rain who cares . if delves give gear then m plus should too. we can all be happy by january

I’m looking for a smooth difficulty progression from Normal dungeons thru the highest M+. This will give the customers interested in doing dungeons a path to advancing our characters and having fun. The current rescaling of difficulties cuts out many people from M+ fun.

I’d be fine with them nerfing gear drop rate or drop level in general and nerfing difficulty. At least being able to complete more dungeons would make them more fun and more repeatable.

Thinking there’s a 40% chance your PUG group is going to get bass taped is a turn-off to even queueing.

That may involve grinding out a specific level until you’re fully geared up from that level before moving on. Yet people don’t want to do that. They want to push as high as possible as quick as possible, skipping this entire step.

It doesn’t. They just won’t take the time to ensure that smooth progression because they think they can punch above their pay grade

And all lives matter
