[CS Lounge]Zereth Mortis Dance Off

Lost my 2TB drive to a fall. Fell off my desk and now when I shake it, I can hear the crumbled platter inside. The kicker is I lost a bunch of work, and now gonna have to dig out the previous backups I make.

You just are not having any luck with tech stuff here of late it seems. I’m sorry though, hopefully your back-ups are recent enough that updating isn’t necessary or very minimal.

At least you have backups! I have some stuff (recipes, photos, important documents) on Google Drive, but that’s it. But I really don’t need much backed up.

My yard looks like a war zone. It has trenches, holes, mounds of dirt and workers whose vocabulary consists of only four-letter words. The neighbors keep peeking out their windows. Ah well, only a few more days of this. Sigh.

I’m kind of jealous of your lack of humidity up there. It’s kind of terrible down here - 90 and humid, and very little wind, so it feels a bit oppressive. We just need to make it through Friday and the temps will get back down closer to normal - or at least into the low 80s, which is a bit better. But it’s the cooler evenings that I’ll be happier to see.

You are right. We don’t have the air you can wear yet.

It’s actually fairly nice out this morning, so I’ve got the windows open and the fans blasting, trying to get some fresh air in before it starts warming up. But all we really need to do is hold out until tomorrow evening when the temps get back down to something a bit closer to normal. But that temp shift will bring some storms. Eh - I’ll take it.

And just found out that some of my bowling teammates will be in St Louis for a tournament in June. So I’ll swing over for the day and hang out with them for a while. That’ll be awesome.

In the ongoing yard work saga, the tree trimmers came out today. Because of all the yard work yesterday they had to climb the tree to trim it. :grimacing: No one went splat. It is their job after all. If I never hear a professional leaf blower a few feet away from me I will be grateful. We have a few days of peace and quiet until the paver guys come on Tuesday.

Oh and for Poctzarwaz, it’s almost 90 and the humidity in the house is 21%. It’s a dry heat.

:pouting_cat:
My cat today needed a personal escort to my bed and have Spotify on. I’m not spoiling my cat. If I don’t do it she pokes at me and yells at me. I do it to get peace from the cat.

Windows are open, at least for a while. It’s a gorgeous morning. Upper 60s, a light breeze, just about perfect. It’s still going to end up getting hot later, but I’ll take this for now.

And a happy Friday the 13th to you all. It’s the only one this year.

Got another booster today. Feel like garbage. That is all.

Got my second booster yesterday, and a new shingles shot last week.

Fortunately, at least so far, I’ve never had any reaction or side effect to any vaccine.

Leaving on a vacation soon, be gone all of June, originally planned for 2020.

Will finally see Yellowstone and visit North Dakota, Montana and Idaho, three states I’ve never spent time in. That will only leave Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama (technically I’ve spent time in Alabama but I was seven years old so it doesn’t really count, and my wife has never been their).

I hope we’ll do the southern three someday, doubt if I’ll ever see Hawaii.

Come to think about it; I’ve also never been to Nunavut, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, the Northwest Territories, New Brunswick (unless you count an hour or so on Campobello Island) or any part of Mexico.

Last time I was out west was around the time I started high school. Dad was a teacher and wanted to go back to some of the places he taught in Montana and Idaho. It was a pretty cool trip, even if it wasn’t cool. It was soooo hot when we went through the Black Hills and Badlands. We did find a couple caves that still had ice in them; that was neat.

I’m not sure you could ever do Yellowstone justice - there’s just so much to see.

Have a great trip!

Sorry I had to

Made a BLT for lunch today at work. It has probably been close to, if not more, 2 decades since I have had one.

It was really good.

There’s just something…perfect…about a BLT.

“Out west” is kind of the same thing as a Michigander saying “Up North.” There’s kind of a nebulous line where you’re suddenly there; it’s usually north of where you live (unless you live Up North), but generally assumed to be north of Clare (though that line moves north the further east you go). And you do graduate from Up North to the UP once you cross the bridge.

Same thing with west - it kind of starts west of the Mississippi (and north of somewhere), at least as far as I’m concerned. And since it really is all about me, that’s all that matters.
