Got a cold-snap headed to my region over next couple of days. Expected to drop to -10°C (14°F) for overnight lows here with highs of only -4°C (25°F). Still not as cold as the cold-snap we had here in 2024. Last year was a lot colder.
Already had 48 hours of non-stop bad and intense weather, especially the gale force wind that bought down a lot of trees here. I am glad the bad weather is over, though still got some rain scheduled over the new few days.
We get 3-5 inches of snow here on Sunday maybe. That will be the first real snow for me this winter. Then we get a brutal cold snap which I am not looking forward to.
I did get out to get prescriptions and a few groceries so I am all set for a few weeks. I think I will use the last above freezing day to wash my hair tomorrow. That way it will be dry before the bad weather starts. Yes, I am spending Saturday washing my hair. Hah. Very old fashioned!
I’m bummed. Victor Ireland held the English Lunar: Silver Star Story (PS1) dub hostage for years and because he wanted per-game royalties on it (which would never happen), GungHo had no choice but to hire new VAs. And worst of all, this means that the famous “Luna’s Boat Song” (Wind’s Nocturne) has to be done with a different singer as well, even though Jennifer Stigile said she’d be happy to reprise her parts. This has really killed the Lunar Remastered collection hype for me.
This is getting infuriating. Every time I try to create a new game in D2R it hangs on creating game until it times out, but works on the second attempt right after the timeout. Pathping shows no issues in terms of latency or timed out nodes and my in-game connection isn’t lost (except once earlier today). It’s like the servers are being overloaded and can’t handle the game creation requests or something. Sure makes playing the terror zones online rather difficult.
Lucky for me, I don’t have to pay for Prime Video to watch it, it is on one of our television networks streaming services for free to watch, which sadly, I get ads throughout the movie.
Oh I know! I don’t think I get much of a choice though. The snow ends overnight on Sunday as the temp drops. Probably going out Sunday afternoon late to shovel what is down by then so at least I don’t have as much to deal with later. There should be no melting really so at least it won’t be a layer of slush that freezes! Car lives in the garage and I have no need to drive anywhere so that is fine. I also live in walking distance of emergency services if I really needed them (and could still walk).
/Tidies the Lounge, add some snow flake themed accessories here and there, sets out hot coffee vats, hot water for tea, cocoa for snow, juices and various cold beverages. Refills the coffee bean selection at the grind and make your own station.
Mornin’ yall. It was a “balmy” 36° when we went out for our walk this morning, but by the time we got back an hour and a half later, it was already down to 25. And windy!!! It’ll cool of a bit more, then warm back up to around 25. And then the bottom drops out - we’ll be in the single digits or below for the next several days. Glad I get the garage for now (since mom’s car is in the shop). But that also means I have to drive her around a bit more. And going from her Escape to my Dart is a bit of a change - it’s a bit of work for her to get in and out.
Hooray! It warmed up enough yesterday to melt a lot of the ice rink that is the parking lot at my apartment. It’s probably not going above freezing again until Wednesday, so everything that’s left will just be hard ice. I was not looking forward to trying to get to my car over that.
Not sure there is a melted path to the dumpster, so I may be stepping around trash bags in the kitchen. Not risking another fall just to take the trash out.
Actually just watched the fifth element a couple hours ago. And got me thinking, because there has been a lot of classic movies that got ruined when the movie studios decided to try and modernize some of them. One example is Planet of the Apes. While the remakes are good, I still prefer the original movies because I found them a lot better than the remakes.
When I lived in Missouri, the apartment complex considered one pass through the travel lanes (that’s ONE pass, not one pass in each direction) as “good enough” for snow removal. Never mind that the plow truck just piled all the snow up in front of the parked cars, and the parking spaces were cheerfully ignored - you’re on your own there, folks. Same thing with the sidewalks - one swipe, done. They did salt the stairs, at least, but that was it. The last apartment complex I lived in in Michigan made people move their cars so they could clear all the lot.
