Iā€™m making Oriental chicken noodle soup for dinner tonight. It has soy sauce, ginger, garlic, Bok choy and rice noodles. It feels like a soup night with the wind chills. :bowl_with_spoon:

Just got back from my lunch walk. Itā€™s pretty chilly out there. And then thereā€™s the wind. Cuts right through you. Brrrā€¦

I ventured out the door. Sunny and pretty with the light snow cover, but COLD. I came back in pretty fast.

I MIGHT go find something project related to do. Maybe finish painting the basement cabinets. I sent the summer working on the outside, so time to get back to the inside I guess. Cold windy day seems like a good time for some painting zen.

We just have Santa Ana winds really bad today. 60-70mph gusts, and the occasional brown-out.

That would smell up the house with no windows to open.

I have the wonderful smell of a whole chicken simmering in the crock pot. :yum:

I miss the Santa Ana winds. Yes, they can be a little destructive at times. At my old house they took out two wooden fences until I replaced it with cinder block wallsā€¦ but when the winds werenā€™t that strong, I loved to sit outside during them. Enjoying the warmer air moving through.

Afternoon folks.

Blood test went fine, finalized everything I need to start working, I just need to get my schedule. Iā€™m real excited to get back to work.

Iā€™m feeling pretty good at the moment. Ready to get started. The roads being a sloshy mess? Not so excited about that.

What kind of job, if you donā€™t mind my asking.

IT. I been working at the school that hired me for aboutā€¦7 years total so far. Had a comfy full time position before my whole song and dance with my liver.

It will be a long road before Iā€™m able to get back to that sort of position, but one step at a time. Thereā€™s no rushing this.

No no. I used an acrylic latex with a very low emissions profile. I have used it before. It surprisingly does not make the house smell like paint. It still smells like lentil curry in here which is divine!

Your chicken sounds amazing too. Nothing is better than home cooking and having the house all warm and smelling like dinner.

Mmm IT.

Iā€™m currently dealing with a dogā€™s breakfast of a new ticketing system, the spawn of an unholy coupling between legacy desperation and ill-defined specification, a child which is the worst of all worlds.

Every chance to succeed but in recollection of the SLS, the need to include hundreds of stakeholders without any real focus on workflows or UX narrative has resulted in a cow long converted into jerky before it reached the starter line.

Nothing good comes from venturing out into the real world. There was a family at my last PT visit that came in coughing and sniffly and sat down right next to my hubby.

Now he has the flu and Iā€™m feeling awful as well. Iā€™m not as bad as he is (yet) and hopefully my flu shot will help with that. First time I ever took a flu shot. Kroger had a special a while back that gave you $20 coupon for groceries if you got your Covid & Flu shots. So I got one in each arm that visit and saved on some groceries. Win/win it seems.

Tonight is a hamburger veggie soup kinda night. Partially because we are sick and partially because it is so cold here this week. Lows in the high 20s tonight.

Oh no! I really hope you donā€™t get seriously ill. I know flu shots target what they think will be the dominant strains that year, but it does not always get everything. I know an older couple who have been very sick with Influenza A this past week and one was hospitalized for a couple days. Their son also got it and despite being healthy and athletic, was down hard for 4 days. Fingers crossed for you and hubby.

I also got my boosters this year and def enjoyed the discount coupons! I stocked up on shelf stable goods that I use a ton, esp in winter. I think I spent $64 and saved $67. I stacked the discount with the other sales that week. Clerk looked impressed - or at least I was impressed with myself. Heh

I actually have one 10% off the whole order coupons left. Waiting until I need to do a large shopping trip again or get expensive things like dairy/meat.

Thanks!

Hope they get better soon.

Unfortunately, according the his flu test at the walk-in clinic this morning he has the A strain as well. Hoping it isnā€™t that bad on him.

That is some great savings.

It just stuck me funny to worry about derailing that thread. But I donā€™t think youā€™re wrong - I wouldnā€™t have posted it in that thread either.

I got called in for a six hour shift on my day off so Iā€™m here for a bit. We have two people in training and two called in so Iā€™m the only person running 3 baggersā€¦.let the chaos begin :dracthyr_yay_animated:

ā€¦ Thatā€™s not good. The issues seen in the son were high fever, dehydration, delirium during fever, the usual other flu symptoms. Like, could not get out of bed type sick for 4 days. The hospitalized parent had the same but got pneumonia so landed in the hospital. She was frail to start with though so the illness was harder on her.

Also, forums, I ran out of likes today! Why is this a thing?

Feel better soon! Flu is mighty unpleasant and sorry your husband and you are suffering itā€™s effects. :frowning:

At the least, soup always hits the spot in weather like this. Warm you right back up in no time.

I really donā€™t know! Maybe thereā€™s some sort of abuse stemming from it once upon a time. Just seems like an odd restriction, though.
