Was gonna do an easy dinner of blackened salmon over rice pilaf, but one roommate made Hamburger Helper and his leftovers are sitting on the stove, in the pan I do my rice in.

Instead, I’m breaking out the wok and doing shrimp stir-fry.

My roommate doesn’t have time to make dinner, so I’ll probably nuke some canned chili and then add Cumin powder, extra fresh-ground black pepper, and a copious amount of shredded sharp cheddar.

I cooked dinner last night and had work today. I’m entitled to something easy. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wish this 90 + degree weather would get out of here, I really enjoy Fall here in the Carolina’s when it can sometimes linger off and on from freezing to some snow to getting up to the high 60’s to low 70’s all the way into the first part of January not often but it does happen at times.

I’m just sick of this heat~~

My mom complained that during the peak of her hair loss her scalp ached, she found that wrapping her head in a warm towel helped a bunch.
It sounds like you’re tolerating chemo pretty well, best wishes that it continues.

Mast, I have no clue how old your boy is but I suggest checking into Boys & Girls Club or if your school has an after-care program. Also, some (licensed) daycares near your son’s school may be willing to take him for a couple hours a day on a temporary basis at a reasonable cost. Also check the YMCA/YWCA in your area.

I feel for ya tho, from birth all of my 4.5 grandkids have only ever been cared for by family, the oldest had to go to daycare for 3 months while I recovered from a back surgery.

And if you lived near me I’d offer to babysit.

Well Dorian’s center is following what many of the hurricanes have done on the east coast and went right for the mouth of the Cape Fear River, I can’t count how many of these hurricanes I’ve been through over my lifespan but it’s been a bunch, I just hope my sister and her family are ok as well as my friends down there.

yummo!! <3

Good ideas. I think we got it covered with shift switches and vacation time.

He is 8 now by the way. Still tok young to walk the mile hkme alone and be alone until his brother would get home.

Final stretch of cleaning and prepping meals. Got 2 Briskets de-thawed and ready for some rubs, and just need to do the kitchen and mop floors.

Gonna find out tonight if I need to prep for training a new general manager. I quite like this one and really don’t want to lose her. She was kinda tricked into accepting the promotion from asst. manager when they transferred our last GM, and later was blindsided when they changed her from the hourly compensation plan to the salaried plan.

She’s been getting more and more frustrated at the lack of support she receives from her bosses, and it’s been coming to a head this week. The district manager wanted to meet with her yesterday to discuss things with her. I advised her the worst outcome is that she’d get a free coffee and still have the option to take her grievances further up the food chain.

If she ultimately decides it’s in her best interests to cut her losses and move on, it may spur me to make a similar decision.

Just out of curiosity, you have no interest in the job if it opens up?

That siad this is what happens with minimalist scheduling. I wish corporate would inderstand

I love the Ask A Manager blog, and one of the things she likes to mention is something like “these are things that happen when you employ humans.” They get sick, they have kids, they need food and bathroom breaks and vacations, they make mistakes, they have good days and bad days, they each have their own individual strengths and weaknesses. It does sometimes seem like businesses think they are employing robots. Or just wish they could. (And in fact many of them are working on using more robots in various ways, including my employer.)

And it shows in all sorts of different ways. Like your situation where a human couldn’t work as scheduled. Or how fast they expect work to get done. Or things like the tech support line I called the other night where the tech was obviously going off a script with little to no understanding of the actual technology. And while I was frustrated, I feel bad for the tech, too - I’d hate being in that position. Honestly a robot probably would have been less painful for both of us (apart from potentially unemploying the tech).

Glad you got the jury duty thing sorted out!
