I seem to be on a mount streak. I got the fly mount from the fly boss in Korthia yesterday. Today I got the unicorn and a giant grom mount from the assault. I hope the streak keeps up!

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. It’s usually just another day, but I was exceedingly happy to learn that Dad would be here. Of course, he didn’t do his annual road trip last year, so this is about the best present I could’ve asked for.

I just watched the Jeff Bezos space launch. When they landed, most of the people on the ground to meet them were wearing cowboy hats. For all you Texas people. Do you wear cowboy hats all the time or is it just the tourists?

The Blue Origin flight was amazing.

No pilot… fully automated flight, both launch and landing.

In the past, booster rockets do water splashdowns and then are salvaged. But the booster from this flight had a controlled landing… and landed UPRIGHT ON A TARGET PAD miles from the launch site. Hurrah for math!

Also in the past, command modules also did a parachute splashdown, but this one landed on land as well.

Congrats to them all!

Depends on where he landed… I don’t wear one as I think they look dumb. But a majority of Texans do own and wear them. It’s part of Texas “fancy” dress code we got going on here.

I think our dress code is now mosquito netting. After the big flooding storms we had last week, there are just clouds of them everywhere. One of our weather guys figured out that if that amount of water fell in the winter, we would have gotten 184 inches of snow.

Today seems to be full of (mostly) good news, at least so far.

First, I had a notification on my laptop that a new graphics driver is available. Well, I’ve got nothing to lose, let’s try it (even though I’d reinstalled the driver as a first step last week). Install the update, wait for Blizzard to finish maintenance, and… in! It’s not crashing. Sweet. Audio is still whacked out when my second monitor is connected, so let’s try to reinstall that driver, too. A couple reboots later, and that’s fixed, too. So my laptop wasn’t dead, it was just resting.

As I’m wrapping that up, I get a call that the desktop I’m building is ready - seems there was a minor issue with a component that was keeping it from booting. Now that that’s sorted, I’ll have two working computers (or will, once my video card comes in).

The downside is that the two drives I’d installed are both failed. So, one to warranty, and the other to the trash, since it’s pretty old already (and might have been a failed drive anyway).

Its been a day man. Grocery truck almost put up. Dealing with attitudes all damn day.

They are used to me being quiet. Just keeping my head down. I made my boss spit take in laughter when i popped my head up and said if you dont like it theres the door to one of them. The look on their face.

But then they said i was drunk with power. So i politely pointed out if i were drunk with power i would have escorted them to the door and not given them a choice.

Yeah they avoided me rest of the day

My boss is at Disneyland today. Using the tickets he bought early last year to take his family. Only half were able to go today.

After doing some reading and grumbling at myself. I bought a ticket and reserved for Friday. At least I can see for myself now.

I’m still pissed at corp. for their political modivated moves.

Hung out with Dad for a while, decided to we’d break for naps then meet up again for dinner. Was talking to one of the roommates, who was looking up the Gasthaus menu and discovered they’re closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

TL;DR - birthday dinner postponed 24 hours.

picturing a hulking Orc Shammy escorting ungrateful peons to the door popped up in my head, and it amuses me greatly.

just a warm day here. feeling a bit meh. might just be one of “those” days i endure in the summer months, maybe its the lack of sleep or something, who knows any more.

if it makes you feel any better, my birthday dinner had to be changed entirely. normally i go to Boston Pizza, but because of the lockdown that was in effect, i settled for ordering a pizza.
