That would be a pretty significant change, if the former. Boss loot tables have always been independent of others, as far as I’m aware.
The only thing that’s contingent on killing previous bosses, in some cases, is unlocking access to a particular boss. I guess in a roundabout way, if the final boss can’t be accessed without killing any previous bosses to unlock a door or open an accessway, that… would kinda-sorta count?
For Freehold specifically, I don’t recall any such obstruction, so you should be in the clear.
Thanks Ekon, that makes me feel better. I started skipping the bosses roughly a year ago and had a realization today that maybe I’ve been doing it wrong
Probably just getting that ‘will it ever drop?’ funk
Yeah, that 1% drop rate can be extremely demoralizing. When I get back to that point it’s a sign to go after something else that has a ruleset for acquisition. Currently it’s the Stormcrow mount on Siren Isle. One of the required objects is reported to have a similarly low drop rate, but the other objects are simple enough. That dopamine hit is generally enough to wipe the slate clean and I can go back to the previous grind refreshed.
Though just to make sure, you are clearing it on mythic difficulty, right?
I liked the 2, but the 3 is a great upgrade with the color pass through. It is nice being able to walk around if I need to and the mixed reality is really kind of cool. Between PC and VR I have more games that I want to play then I’ll likely be able to get to.
Know that feeling all too well…Hope you’re able to be at the desk more as time goes on!
I wasn’t a fan, myself. Won’t go into the new part of the quest campaign, Siren Isle had around an hour of content. Most of it being ‘wait outside a cave for 3 minutes and kill a boss’. New ring is really lacking as only a portion of the gems are currently available, and it’s a net loss for most folks. Not sure if the new gems will fix it.
I’m gonna get some mogs and that will be my time done on the Isle.
Gonna reply here to not bother with that one thread. When it opened in TBC, Underbog was my first PvP server. I remember questing through the plaguelands on my little belf lock at the time. A random human pally showed up, and just sort of stared at me. I used /beg and he just laughed and went about his day. It was a fun little interaction I will never forget.
Twisting Nether, myself! My IRL friend was there and seemed up my alley. I remember my character too, a Night Elf Druid. It was near the end of TBC’s life cycle.
Two memories come to mind. One I was questing in Hinterlands when I was accosted by a group of max level Horde. I went to leave and they went /no. They pointed to a nearby elite and emoted for me to attack.
The message was clear: I was being held hostage until I killed the elite. That I didn’t even need.
Against all odds I solo’d the elite, although it nearly got my character killed. At this point the Horde attacked. I was thinking they’d let me go about my day but, alas.
Second, I made a DK during Wrath as just about everyone did. Think I was nearing max level. Was around Dragonflight where I seen a group of Horde attempting to down a quest elite, some sort of big skeleton dragon.
Well, I was feeling cheeky, so I Death Grip’d the tank and finished him off as he was low HP. This of course attracted the ire of the rest of the group who immediately forgot about the dragon and beelined right for me. It seemed lost, but then a max level Gnome swooped out from the sky and kept me alive. We made short work of the group. We had a short conversation and I thanked him before we went our separate ways.
We met again and I did join a guild he was in. Long time ago, though, don’t know what happened to him.
Did plenty of stupid things during my time playing, but those good memories that stick around? Really treasure those moments.
That will get better after a while. After my femur repair earlier this year it took a few weeks after I got home from the hospital before I could sit comfortably at my desk for any length of time.
