I have one like that on the way to work, it’s a two lane but if you’re heading towards the highway, it’s a two lane road. There’s two side roads that are single lane so you need to be in the right hand lane to turn into them, but if you’re taking the highway road out both lanes can go into it.
Then there’s folks that pretend there’s no lanes and switch/take up both…
I know they have a point but every time I go on one I feel like I’m on a roulette wheel where the stakes are cars and the well being of folks. Not a fan.
@Kyzera, thank you. Hasn’t got any worse, feeling a bit lightheaded but think I’m okay otherwise.
This is the worst one I have had to drive through and it got me totally confused. Worse, it is a very major convergence of large roads in a very highly travelled North East Corridor region adjacent to the NJ Turnpike. I feel like I was lucky not to die.
Y’all need to look up the “Magic” Roundabout in Swinton, England.
There aren’t any RAs around here. I’m pretty sure the people up here couldn’t handle them. But they were quite plentiful in SW Michigan when I was down there. And two types of people - those who figure them out quickly, and those who will go out of their way to avoid them. There are a couple diverging diamond interchanges down there, too, which I like. But people really don’t like those.
One of the neighbor dogs got loose while we were coming home from our walk. He was having a grand old time hopping though the snow leading his owners on a merry chase.
I can’t stand the Turnpike or the GSP. Also, NJ metropolitan city roads are the worst thing in the universe. Large roundabouts for no reason, five lanes of traffic everywhere, and lights every ten feet. I’m so glad I live in the suburbs and rarely have to deal with this.
And jug handle turns to go left, but you can’t actually figure out which intersections have them and which don’t. Not ahead of time anyway.
For those that don’t know, in NJ most of the time you have to turn right and do a loop to the light to go left. You also can’t pump your own gas.
Horrible place to have to travel or navigate in! Roads wise. It has pretty sections in it for natural areas, but most of it is an exercise in extreme frustration, and tolls, I almost forgot tolls.
We have “Michigan” (or P-) Lefts. When you get to a divided highway, you make a right. then you have to get all the way over to the inside lane and make a U-turn to turn left (kind of like those “Authorized use only” turn arounds on the freeway). Sometimes, there are even traffic lights at the median crossover to make it (slightly) less suicidal. There’s actually a pretty good Wikipedia page that describes them pretty well.
Way to trigger my PTSD. “Michigan Lefts” confused the bejeezus out of me. I worked in Ann Arbor for fourth months and let me tell you, I’d take a roundabout over that any day.
No argument there. Here - let me turn onto a road with cars going 45-60 miles an hour, cut across all lanes of traffic, then turn into the “fast” lane.
Now that you mention “someone”, I noticed the forums have been… peaceful. I wonder if a certain someone flew too close to the centaur and got dismounted.
Different someone. Though that one likes to fly too close to the sun centaur, you’re right, but I don’t recall seeing recent mention of a time-out. I did have a right hearty chuckle at their use of “it happens to me all the time” in the context it was provided, however.
The one I’m referring to I had only ever seen post here that one day, but they were adamant that Windows couldn’t do what was mentioned in yesterday’s thread. Thought they kept catching me in gotchas by using terms that I said exactly zero times.
