I’m pleasantly surprised with it. I’m overwhelmed being an Altaholic though. Some of the writing for the cinematics could use another pass. It’s like they’re from a children’s book. Especially when they are completing each other’s sentences.
We’re “barely” in the winter weather watch for now. They’re telling us 5-7 inches of heavy, wet snow, and mixed with rain and wind. Then the temps drop for the weekend - highs around 20 by the end of the weekend. They’re also making noises about another system pushing through on the weekend with the temp drops.
Here I am feeling like I’m freezing to death outside with temps in the upper 40s, light rain and the wind gusting up to 25mph, then I read what some of you are dealing with.
Yeah, I just got back in from the yard. We get inches of rain and also heavy winds so, making sure stuff is taken care of here too. Thankfully in winter there is not much to do. I just have to make sure the trash cans are taken care of after pick up tomorrow. Hopefully we don’t have too many trees down or power out.
You stay safe!
On the good side, I don’t get snow! So no shoveling and I don’t think I need to drive anywhere.
Enjoyed these games so much. Played them on an old home PC with not one, but TWO 5-1/4" floppy drives.
Now I have all the Kings Quest games on Steam, and I was amazed that my elementary/middle school self could make any progress. Just so much back and forth across the map, with absolutely no help or even a quest log to keep information straight.
I briefly played one mud rom where other players could actually render your character unplayable. They could take your whole inventory and currency, leave you unable to speak, move, or even see. You had to depend on someone helping you, but if it happened in a desolate area no one ever went to? Eek.
i’m not far from Edmonton (ab/sask border) and that’s what we have to look forward to as well… i’d like to cancel winter due to lack of interest please! lol
I pulled in the last of the Christmas decorations outside. It’s supposed to get windy here as well. They’re calling for 3 or 4 inches of heavy wet snow/slush to fall tomorrow morning. With added wind, power lines come down. Have you ever experienced slush balls falling from the sky? Always manage to drop behind the glasses or down the neck of your coat.
Remember dress in layers, if you start getting hot outside strip layers off before you sweat. Once you sweat you will get cold no matter how big the coat is.
We are supposed to get that along with snow, leading to “whiteout” conditions. Just when I have to go to work in the dark. Did the laundry this morning so all my long underwear will be clean for the coming few days.
Thank you for the tip! (Ran out of likes!) Those used to those conditions are way more knowledgeable about do’s and don’ts than those of us that barely have a winter, so thank you again!
Learned that in the boyscouts. When camping in colder weather to change all your clothes before going in your sleeping bag and to sleep. If not any small amount of sweat will make you cold.
Apparently I am now double checking my emergency supplies, putting up some water, and preparing to shelter in place.
We are getting what is essentially now a tropical storm with many inches of rain, high winds in an already saturated area, and the winds will blow the water up the bay/rivers so we will have floods from that too. Nothing is going to drain.
glubglubglub
Schools are closing early so that busses can hopefully get kids home before the roads are closed and the wind picks up enough to topple them over.
I personally am not in any danger unless my massive black walnut comes down on the house, which it probably won’t do. Probably. This is why I have a house made of cinderblock/stucco and am not in a flood zone! Three little pigs and the big bad wolf story stuck with me.
Just getting the last of the chores done early so if we lose power the house is shiny and I don’t have to worry about anything. I might bake something to nibble on as well. Maybe muffins.
