Wait, why did we in edmonton suddenly become interesting?

Itā€™s actually been pretty darn warm and snow-less here for all of december. Very, very rare for here. Like, weā€™ve had some years of -40oC thatā€¦ well, that is not recommended as t-shirt/shorts weather, and may require every car in the city to be plugged into its block heaterā€¦ butā€¦

My roommate was muttering darkly about how Iā€™m heading out to visit BC right in time for our upcoming -24oC stretchā€¦ which turns into -9 again about the day I get back. Gosh darn. =p

Fun fact, at -40 you donā€™t have to say if itā€™s Fahrenheit or Celsius. (Unless you hang out with quantum physicists, when you might mean -40 Kelvin.) Iā€™ve always found this appropriate because by the time itā€™s that cold Iā€™m not sure I care which scale, because either way that is Too Darn Cold.

TIL that my cityā€™s snowplow trucks have names, such as Darth Blader, William Scrape-speare, and Snow Place Like Home. I wonder if the drivers got to help pick. I hope they did.
