So ya i know this won’t happen lol. But what if Blizz used classic to revamp all of wow. Like start with #NoChanges and then go back and re-do every expansion knowing what they know now. Like TBC with no flying mounts. Cata without portals to everything. No LFR. Wod without garrisons LOL. I know the retail community would hate it, but hey a girl can dream right?
They’d have to change some content. Like the dailies that appear in Terokkar. Make portals up to the Eye so we can get up there.
Ya they’d have to change a lot of things for sure. But imagine if they were able to go back and re-make expansions learning from their mistakes. Its basically what i’m doing in classic, playing the same thing I did in vanilla but without all the stupid things i did. Or at least most of the stupid things lol.
They can just make flight points to anything designed for flying in BC.
I won’t be upset if they do this.
This would be a ton of fun. I would be game.
Honestly, changing outland to remove flying would require as much work as changing azeroth to allow flying.
While I think we’d all like an idealized reimagining of expansions, the major obstacle is that it’s the exact kind of thing, polarizing changes, that really ended up killing the game.
There was no single change that took WoW from a 12m sub game to a 2m sub game. If one single change had caused them to lose millions of subscribers, they would have reverted it, even if it was a cost saving measure.
WoW suffered a death by 1000 cuts. It wasn’t one change that killed the game, it was dozens of smaller changes that were each the last straw for a small percentage of people, and not everyone saw those changes as negative.
Not to mention the fact that a lot of the universally hated changes were done to save money. If activision wasn’t willing to revert those changes to stop the blood loss they certainly can’t be expected to revert them now in an attempt to shove some of that blood back in. It’s like how the internet it universally suspicious of EA’s new “single player, no microtransaction” star wars game.
They already said they don’t want to maintain two MMOs.
Except for the flight only sections of each zone, the land is designed to be ridden to. Add a few more bridges and some ramps and you’re good.
It wouldn’t be great but it could be done with minimal work.
That’s how the game should always have been.
More than that, they’d need to make more content to replace things such as Garrisons, along with the necessary actions involving them.
I like how all the #nochanges people want changes to future expacs(if they ever do them). So I guess it’s #onlychangesiwant. You just happen to want no changes to vanilla.
I don’t think you understand what #nochanges means.
Didn’t they say that before deciding to go ahead for classic though?
I loved LFD/LFR when it first came out. Not so much anymore.
Take ground mounts out too
No, they’ve repeated it every time someone has asked about more than just Classic, after the Classic announcement, in every interview. Classic isn’t going to be a ‘maintained’ MMO.
They should stop maintaining retail, maybe it will improve
I think you need to understand by what they meant when they said this.
This is why they put classic wow on modern infrastructure so they can just keep it updated with new backend systems with retail.
They could have every version of wow out and only have to ‘maintain’ one, retail.
Flying was one of the core features of BC and added a lot to it, which it can when the developers actually develop content with flying in mind.
The feature that really needs to be dropped from BC is arena, drop that and all the balance changes that resulted from arena.
Wrath, pick a raid model and use it consistently for the rest of the game.
Cata, fix the world for flying without doing the sundering and undo all the dungeon changes. And obviously no shared lockout for 10/25 man.
MoP, actually not much to change here.
WoD obviously drop garrisons.
In general stop the ability pruning and actively develop 5 mans on par with the amount of raid content added.
I think you need to understand by what they meant when they said this.
They meant that they would not be progressing two MMO’s by adding new content to each and adding expacs or additional development.
I fully expect them to patch the Classic client with exploit fixes and bug fixes.
