Crafted Items should NOT be BIS

What are the two slots ? Genuinely curious.

hands/wrist. for me. ultimately, I have a max ilvl glove tier that i cannot use to increase my ilvl because BiS crafted is best for those slots.

You have to put in the work to get the crafting materials and actually have it made. How is that different from killing a giant bear and pulling out a plate helm exactly? Both are items you earn from the content you run.

uhm… a big difference

Average in 1 slot that’s 3 ilvls lower across 15 gear slots at 639. See where that takes you.

They would probably have to blow up crafting again, which may not be the worst thing. Maybe instead of crafting a fresh item you utilize it to improve your looted gear. E.g. convert a hero track item into a myth track item.

So as a blacksmith, I should have focused on those slots. Bummer.

BIS is only the case when you have all of those items.

Put it into words

This is at most a 0.4 difference in ilvl I believe right? Two items going from 636 to 639 ilvl?

My take is that Crafted should give you the BEST “POTIONS/BUFFS/RUNES” that will AUGMENT your damage, but not directly impact give best gear/item level. They can also help you craft really good high item level gear that is very good, but again, not the best. higher item level should always mean, more damage. period.

Many ways to make it work but I doubt they want to get rid of the great vault and crafting, it’s been working a bit too well in term of engagement and money-making.

That’s never going to happen with the existence of secondary stats. Crafted or not.

It depends on the class/spec, but most have a BiS embellishment combo

That’s literally never been the case in the history of this game, and it shouldn’t be now. That’d just reduce gearing to a singular stat, at which point why even have gear

don’t even get me started on BiS embellishment that’s BIS weapon over max ilvl weapon…

So, this boils down to “I want one number for gear”? Because that’s the only solution to what you are saying, and has literally never been the case.

im not quite to the point where it’ll bother me just yet but i hate the idea that the crafted stuff with embellishements caps at 636 when the normal stuff goes to 639.

there will be a point where the only non-639 slots i have are stuck at 636 because it sims better than all the 639 stuff.

idm if crafted stuff is bis but let it be 639 like the rest of the stuff xD

you’ve got an un-upgraded 623 ring on. that’s dragging your average ilvl down much more than a single 636 slot.

Ding ding ding - we have a winner.

Crafting supports token sales and vault supports subscriptions.

A middle ground could be to let you put embelish on any gear, like you’d do with a socket from the great vault. Let people purchase an embelish slot.
