I put through an order for a crafted item, and it was made with an embellishment I never asked for and cannot use, as I have two other items that have better embellishments.
The character who made this no longer exists (according to ingame mail) and feel that this was an exploit to take my money by another player.
What can I do to get a refund of items and gold?
Was this a public order? If yes, you take your chances. You cannot get any kind of refund for anything related to that.

The crafter can only craft your order, they canât add embellishments on their own.
Without a Missive, the secondary stats are not pre-determined in advance.
All crafts final (until recrafted)

Take my chances?
This is flat-out griefing.
This I did not know, as I havenât crafted orders myself. Thanks for the info.
Somehow theyâve managed to do it.
Well Iâm quite sure that, if everythingâs kinda filled out you canât.
But if itâs an âopen-orderâ you could, in theory throw anything you want in it. But then that means the guy placing the crafting order is at fault here since he was okay with whatever. A missive wouldâve still prevented this entire thread anyway.
It is not griefing to get an undesired (random) public craft.

It seems thatâs what heâs done.
Or do crafted items have embellishments added automatically to certain pieces based on class/spec?
I beg to differ.
Embellishments have a limitation on how many you can have, so by adding one without requesting for it, makes the new item , or an existing item , worthless! (as Im maxed out on other items with embellishments)
What was the item you had crafted? There are some items, like Binding of Binding, or others, that count towards embellishments. Without knowing what you had crafted it would be hard for us to give you any conclusions.

This is likely the solution, these items have âNerubian Embellishmentâ next to the Unique Equipped effect, meaning they fall under the same equip restrictions. I just learned about these items myself, getting into the new crafting system a bit late

The only thing a crafter can do that is sort of unpleasant is craft something under the quality level youâre hoping for and take your tip, unless itâs guild or personal and the min quality is set. I learned this one the hard way
The Algari Competitorâs Cloth Hood.
Thereâs no tooltip in the crafting table that it comes with an embellishment. Just the option to add one if you so desired, along with the Missive, and mats required, and the PvP Reagent to upscale it to 639 ilvl in PvP (which I need).
That doesnt affect me, as itâs a PvP item at max level and attributed stats. But I can see how that would create a lot of frustration for PvErs.
Perhaps this is something that could help?

So I now have the hassle of finding someone to recraft it to remove the embellishment
Beginning to think the player who crafted it did it intentionally to spite me for not a high enough commission or something
Thank you.
Iâm sorry it happened, but at least itâs not a total wash of your mats and gold. Hopefully youâll be able to find someone easily enough to get it adjusted. Youâre welcome though, and good luck to you.

What specific item was it?
I doubt the crafter meant to harm anyone. They may have thought they were being nice, adding extra value to the order. Itâs usually best not to assume the worst of intents.
If youâd like an item made exactly how you want, and not leave it up to chance, your best bet is always going to be a private order.

Thatâs your opinion, and Im just as entitled to think otherwise.
Regardless, it wasnât what as requested, and doing âmoreâ for someone out of âkindnessâ isnât actually a kind act when youâre doing something you were never asked to in an exchange for gold. In this case itâs caused the item to be completely useless.
Unfortunately, thatâs the chance you risk when making a public request. If itâs important an item turns out exactly like you want, personal orders are the only way to guarantee such.
