Covenant Legendary Tuning

Yeah but people have switched covenant to be ready to forge these legendaries. They also already bought the leggo base items. And now this happens.

I think a lot of ptr testers are also just in the mindset that blizz isn’t going to actually listen to feedback. If the beta threads were still around I could point to multiple suggestions and posts that got ignored early on by blizz, only to have those same suggestions/solutions implemented later on in balancing that was done months down the road.

It’s not just this expansions that’s having that issue either, get ignored enough times while providing feedback and eventually you’ll just stop providing feedback. When it takes until patch X.1 of the expansion to implement fixes that were constantly suggested in beta, it brings up the idea of why even bother.

You still have to compare the covenant legendaries to the already existing ones. Like am I going to give up my much more frequent DRW + free boneshields for the covenant legendary? Probably not.

Same argument for unholy
my super ghoul is not likely to be trumped by any given covenant legendary. I suspect this is the case for most specs who don’t purely live or die by the covenant ability itself. What they should have done is let the covenant legendary be ran as a 2nd legendary equip.

I know right?

BlizZard are great comedians.

Blizzard, as one of the 15 Venthyr Warlocks left, I BEG you to A. Let impending catastrophe be instant cast and B. Make it’s legendary at all viable. Give it an increase to haste/crit on explosion. Something! It’s the only warlock covenant legendary that doesn’t also include a stat increase. It’s ridiculous how much they hate the idea of the Venthyr Warlock.

I agree but it doesn’t change anything. It is obvious Blizzard has and relies on their own internal builds/data because literally right up to the launch of SL, the PTR was in such a bad overall shape you still couldn’t even hit 60 with just the campaign quests alone. I leveled a fresh toon doing all the known main and side quests and only got to like 59.30 or something and that was like 2 weeks before launch.

At this point, I’d rather they do more like what FFXIV does and just not have a PTR so the content is fresh for everyone, but alas until then all I and what I assume most others will see them as is glorified early access.

True, but there is a leggo like Obedience which is just too good.

“Increase the choices”
Looks like a decrease, cap.

As if there were ever any choice, when top performing specs see a 30% spread to bottom performing. Start there please.

You know that with this nerf it’s still going to be the best legendary, right?

I sure am glad I did not go Venthyr.

That’s not an increase to choice, right?

Imagine picking Necrolord and just wanting to have something that’s competitive. That’s where I’m at.

Yeah switching covenants for a cov specific lego that is 4x’s better than any other lego expecting it not to get nerfed is not a big brain play. It was obvious to everyone that this lego needed to be tuned down. It will still be “the best” but it won’t be the only possible choice.

Except Blizzard who launched them as-is.

Why not buff other options to actually create more choice instead? Fun detected.

That’s why I made a whole post the other day on how locking power behind covenants is stupid.

People spend time and energy getting their Covenants set up, getting everything the way they want, go in with an understanding of how they want to play their character.

Then a balance change comes and people feel like they have to throw all that away and start with a new covenant.

They gave us an overpowered generic legendary so that they wouldnt have to pay attention to us again, after all, we did not receive a blue post in almost a decade now.

Nobody wants this. I hate Venthyr and Condemn and the Sinful play style.

But this nerf hasn’t solved the problem here. Sinful wasn’t OP, it was just OP relative to other warrior legendaries which are almost all useless. The one most raiding warriors used all of Nathria is awful, the vast majority of us hate it and the play style is so uninterested. Forces you to pick Bladestorm and get locked into a 5 sec blade storm animation to get value from your lego. Relies on RNG to wildly swing damage pull to pull.

If blizz’s goal was to make the choice more meaningful they should have buffed other legos, or covenants but instead now we just have another useless lego.

For single target it will roughly be the 2nd best behind serpents trickery. For multi-target it is difficult to say. In my limited testing for the rotation i used it would exceed serpents trickery, but meh. I don’t trust my results , haha. It looks to be between soulfire embers and secrets of unblinking vigil for multi-target 3-5 targets. Without running a sim that took apart all the variables it would be difficult to say how exactly it compares to SoUV. They may also decide to nerf it slightly later on too.

No they didn’t. They don’t launch for another week.
