Conversation about ADDONS should they go or stay?

I think Blizzard should crack down on people wanting to get rid of addons.

i think people demanding crackdowns should be cracked down upon.

I watch a YouTuber who basically had a story arc restoring an old dilapidated house wherein that rug would be extremely fitting.

I guess you missed where I said I still prefer Grid 2.

The stock UI Raid frames are still solid though .

Do you know how bad you have to be to be called out for DPS?

Kill them all. Back to 1.0.

Are we skilled or are we so dumbed down that we need an addon to tell us when to move out of fire? where to go for a quest? when the boss will do x y z? when to use cooldown because other player in arena used x ability?

come on.

Kill all addons.

 These threads are hilarious. Addons are not going anywhere. The only ones Blizz is concerned with are the ones that might automate/hacks gameplay. A lot of people with disabilities that play this game depend on some of the addons that some of the people in here are ranting about wanting removed. Don’t want to use them, then don’t!

It kind of depends.

There’s a big difference between whispering someone “Hey, it looks like your having some trouble with your melee phase, If you want I can suggest a guide for it to you.”
and going in party “YOU SUCK AND I HOPE YOU DIE! RANDOM RANT ABOUT PARENTS AND CANCER!!!11!1”

Now I can 100% say that people tend to be overly sensitive in FF from the point of view of a WoW player, but if it’s constructive and polite it’s almost always accepted, and even appreciated in some cases. I’ve seen maybe 2 people ragequit since February of last year… and in one of those cases they logged back in and apologized.

Back on track though…

Blizzard should, and IMO probably will, remove automating add ons. I think it’s gotten to the point with some of them that it’s an absolute cheat, while some of them are just harmless QOL increases.

Rule of thumb, IMO of course, is that if it lets you skip keypresses or gives you information you would absolutely have no way of knowing through normal player awareness then it’s probably up for consideration on the chopping block… you know… eventually… someday… maybe.

All add-ons that make the combat more readable and enjoyable should be broken and the developers should work to put those in the game or make the encounter design more readable in general. You should not need 500 weak auras just to do content.

Ion did make a point though.

Addons have always existed and had the capabilities to do the things that are utilized with the modern game, but we as players didn’t use them in the same manner during WOTLK and prior expansions.

Addons were just used for information, but now they’re being used to calculate solutions to problems in raids, and they’re essential tools for Mythic mostly.

I was talking about wow, I do see a lot of “We dont have the dps for this” comments but I never see someone get called out unless they are literally not doing anything at all. And I pug most of the content so you would expect me to see it more.

You’re much more likely to get called out for failing a mechanic than you are for your DPS. In fact, I was called out last night for failing a mechanic twice, which is ironic because the person that called me out failed the mechanics of the previous 3 bosses which caused us to miss the timer anyway.

As for addons I cant think of a single addon that automates a keypress besides things like Sell Junk and Auto turn in, both of which dont change your performance.

You dont, sometimes after a patch I forget to update DBM and I dont even notice its turned off.

this.

a million times.

their compliant is that they have to design encounters around addons? I have news for them: no you don’t

Why don’t they have to?

I didn’t, I just didn’t comment on that part particularly.

Because we didn’t need to. The content was designed for everyone to at least try. The game nowdays has so many nonsense out of nowhere unfun one shot mechanics it’s absurd.

Maybe if they’d stop making their mechanics hard to predict, like stuff with no cast bars, and stuff with questionable telegraphs, so that we could actually look at cast bars, boss /yells, and look at the telegraphs to know what to do like in FF.

In Savage, not everything is orange telegraphed, but you still know where the ability is going to go off.

You don’t raid mythic do you? Casual mythic raiders are going to update that.

Why should they have to?
