tbh i wasn’t aware that ff14 raiders used combat add-ons, kinda of disappointed that they do. I dont know how one can tell the difference between being bad because they dont know their rotation / stat prority and just actively trying not to put out any effort to get free gear.
Per boss fight is what 5-10 minutes normally? Sorry i only raided 3 different raids outside LFR on heroic difficulty in my lifetime highmaul, hellfire citadel, and Nyalotha on heroic.
But if say a boss fight is ten mins per wipe / completion thats six times in a hour six x eight is fourty eight hours… well yeah that is a ridiculous amount as i wasn’t doing the math right there. That was not including breaks either. So i guess 1-2 hours would be fine per boss if people are struggling. I’m not sure what the standard is below mythic. Tbh I just wanna spend a total of 30-45 mins on the first time with a boss and 20 mins less per boss once already completed. Below mythic of course.
that’s because they’re against ff’s tos but they don’t enforce it lmao
and it’s significantly less streamlined than our own installation process
Stay, because they’re optional. Some people may enjoy them, others may not want a more cluttered UI. I’m as dense as a rock and I still figured out how to install them.
I think Blizzard needs to stop designing around addons. Artificial difficulty is just an arms race. I think it’s a self perpetuating cycle.
I’d love to see more of the most popular add-ons baked into the base UI. As a healer I used Clique with the base unit frames, recently coming back to the game I saw they added in their own version of Clique. It’s (so far) great, really easy to set up and I love that I can have one less add-on. I hope that the new UI allows me to stop using ElvUI. If they’d add in bags, scrap and a few others I’d be all set.
Should they block combat add-ons? I’m on the fence with that. As a healer I like track a lot of de/buffs across the group and a good portion of that comes from weakauras. Could I be effective without them? Sure. Would I necessarily like it? Probably not. They’d really have to work hard at implementation of certain things.
I believe the debate is over combat addons and not UI stuff.
An addon that tells you what to do and what the boss is about to do is completely different than modding your UI.
Or the more evil option, give bosses a competent AI that makes them dynamically change their strategy depending on the situation and even have some limited anticipation of player actions
Remove addons and there will be another exodus.
I like to use as few of addons as possible and weak auras allows me to do almost everything with it to custom ui to quality of life improvements.
I swear if they remove more aspects of this game just to please braindead “influencers” or the single digit percentage, that’s it. /shrug
Stop listening to them.
It’s weird that people are complaining about this now when the most egregious examples of this are from multiple expansions ago; it’s just turning into a meme now because Asmongold complains about it
Why should you not be able to mod your game to make certain things in combat more noticeable? People just assume that getting rid of things like WeakAuras will force Blizzard to design bosses to telegraph things more clearly but it probably won’t. There are people who use PvP WeakAuras to tell when an enemy is immune to CC from Echoing Resolve, because there’s no visual indicator in-game.
Yes but the only reason the addon can tell you what the boss is going to do is literally because the fight is scripted.
If you kill the combat addons, I could create a discord bot in about 20 minutes that does all the announcements what mechanic is coming.
You cannot stop combat addons without actually changing the structure of fights, to create and accommodate randomised mechanics
I wasn’t taking a stance either way because it isn’t something that I care about one way or the other.
I was just pointing out that the debate was about combat addons and not UI addons. And that they were completely different things.
examples? I know there are but I’m pretty sure not many.
why does it bother you that people who care about their own performance, and enjoy the process of getting better, would want a way to measure said performance?
if you actually want to get into that, There are many ways, and we can delve into that.
I believe on average fights are often 4-6 minutes in length with final bosses often bumping up a bit.
but this really maths out to the full length of your fight length. very very very often wipes are gonna occur much earlier.
this generally sounds like the normal experience to me.
and if you’re in a good guild, potentially a large chunk of heroic outside of specific bosses.
They should make the base UI less of a disadvantage to use. But I don’t think they need to integrate weakauras.
What they should do is stop designing encounters and mechanics with addons in mind. Someone with base UI should be just as good as someone with addons.
can you use some examples of this?
there are literally always all inclusive weakaura sets for every dungeon and every raid
lords of dread weakaura is a prime example
there was also one during BfA that completely and utterly trivialized mechatorque’s shrink mechanic
mythic archimond laser mechanic
All they need to do for that is give us enough time to react to mechanics. If we take the sazine or archimonde group soaks, they were addon automated because there is just not enough time for players to dynamically make groups on the fly.
having lots of weakauras that are created after the content is out in no way proves that the mechanics are designed around those things.
doesn’t this prove the opposite. they tried to make a mechanic that ended up ruined by addons, not created because of them?
like same point.
And i’m really not advocating for weakauras that make intersting mechanics simple and boring.
proving a solution imo doesn’t fall under already present information.
archimonde knock up mechanic in HFC?? there was plenty of time. Or am i thinking of the wrong thing.
well
yes
that’s what i was talking about to that effect
it trivialized it
that’s literally my point
a wasted mechanic due to a line of script not developed by blizzard
and archimonde lasers were designed in such a way because blizzard knew people would be using addons
i dunno why you’re playing devil’s advocate against adding more core customization into the base game
