But FF14 has just as many dps and boss addons its just not as widely known or used.
I knew someone would make a joke! lol It’s Schrödingers Cat so no worries.
ah, I just want a place where raids that aren’t mythic to be brutally hard. Like ion was talking about wiping 25 times in heroic per boss. Thats ridiculous and rage inducing. How about 3-5 times most per boss with people who pay attention? People who are trying their best get called out on the dps charts is also ridiculous. I mean if you’re sitting there and barely trying yeah you need called out but if you’re actively flinging ability after ability then theres no need for toxicity.
You all know full and well we aren’t talking about UI mods, map mods nor RP mods.
Combat mods need to go, full stop. If you can’t do content without knowing what a boss is about to do, are you actually capable of doing the content?
Besides, every single time a new mod comes out that creates scores on some arbitrary blah blah blah, the forum goes nuts over who gets left out, bad behavior in the groups, etc. It’s not right, I hate seeing our fellow players go through that EVERY single time.
Ending combat mods would go a long way towards getting creative dungeons, more active players, and good strides towards a better community. Also, in before ‘The rest of the internet behaves the same way’ nonsense; it doesn’t mean OUR community has to keep being terrible to one another. All things come to an end, the time has come for combat mods.
Like ion was talking about wiping 25 times in heroic per boss. Thats ridiculous and rage inducing. How about 3-5 times most per boss with people who pay attention?
Why is 25 times an unreasonable number? If they were tuned to be doable with an average group in 3-5 attempts per boss it would kill progression raiding outside of mythic. Even in normal mode in Cataclysm I think most bosses took my guild more than 5 attempts
Stay; it makes RPing unnecessarily clunky without them.
Non-combat add-ons should stay.
Combat add-ons should go.
Well at least in my personal opinion raids are meant to be fun and completed as fast as possible. Even new ones. Is there challenge? Yes, but does it need to be 8+ hours per boss below mythic? Hell no. People just wanna do the raid to say they did it and experience it. Many casuals or non hard core players dont wanna sit in a raid for hours wiping on the same boss that isn’t fun. And if the community is so intent on removing LFR how will you deal with the playerbase that just wants to have fun and not wipe 20+ times per boss? In pugs the most you wipe is 5 times before people get it through their heads and thats pugs not premade groups.
This whole thing about progression i feel needs to be revealuated. Outside of mythic who cares if 200 or 2000 players defeat it as long as everyone had fun and a chill time doing so? Mythic is the difficulty where you brag and play it as a second part time job. But thats just me as a non hardcore player.
Pretty sure raiders would get upset if they had to try for 8 hours to capture the flag 3 times in warsong gultch before moving onto the next battleground.
I remember being against a lot of PvP addons back when I was doing high end arena.
The difference in play between someone with addons and someone without addons is just too much. Plus it creates a barrier of entry to PvP where it becomes mastering addons. People instantly know when you pop cooldowns and it removes the need for communication in a group.
I feel the same in mythic+ but I think addons in mythic+ aren’t nearly as essential because you memorize the dungeons when you run them so many times
it’s about time blizzard crackdown on some
What exactly is there to “crack down on?” Is there some sort of money laundering going on that I don’t know about?
And can I get in on it?
Should get rid of some like the one that just literally spams peoples’ whispers and ginvites
I agree, that one is pretty dysfunctional to driving a goal oriented community.
Addons shouldn’t be removed, but raid encounters shouldn’t be designed around them either. Instead, they should bring the base UI up to par (which they seem to be doing in Dragonflight) and design encounters around that.
Players would be free to continue to use third party raid addons, but the benefits would be in the realms of diminishing returns if the new stock UI and encounters are designed properly. If bosses somehow end up getting trivialized by third party addons, well, that’s a problem players brought upon themselves.
Let people play the game they want to, if they want to use addons, then thats there decision someone using DBM or weakauras doesnt effect you at all, if you dont want to use them then dont
i my personally think it’s about time blizzard crackdown on some.
which ones?
Why?
should blizzard bring more in as part of the base UI
you leading this question to me says you at least do, so which ones and why?
what are your thoughts on addons.
Addons allow a ton of freedom for the player to modify the game in many ways that can enhance the experience for themselves.
Addon’s that go beyond providing already present information generally are a bad thing i think. can’t think of examples right now.
We wouldn’t need Addons for certain mechanics if they were well telegraphed.
Any current examples of badly telegraphed mechanics?
is it ok to make a game that probably shouldn’t be played without addons?
the game plays just fine without addons.
Following FF14 procedure and help with toxicity in the community and the extreme difficulty content.
ff14 raiders use combat addons though.
I am finding it is much more fun to have to pay attention to what is happening in the fight than to that addon flashing at you.
then just don’t use the addon. I’ve raided with people in my group that didn’t have combat addons, and I never knew until it came up in conversation.
Like ion was talking about wiping 25 times in heroic per boss. Thats ridiculous and rage inducing.
I guess we have different limits. 25 sounds like a small number to me.
How about 3-5 times most per boss with people who pay attention?
isn’t the point that (outside of mythic raiding) wipes happen because people aren’t paying attention?
People who are trying their best get called out on the dps charts is also ridiculous.
shaming someone isn’t okay, but if someones damage is far below a general standard, its an issue, and “trying their best” is very subjective.
actively flinging ability after ability then theres no need for toxicity.
just casting spells to me doesn’t qualify for trying.
Well at least in my personal opinion raids are meant to be fun and completed as fast as possible. Even new ones. Is there challenge? Yes, but does it need to be 8+ hours per boss below mythic?
8 hours is not 25 wipes. you’re starting to be disingenuous here.
There is a line, I think we are closely approaching it, if not already over it. Who remembers AVR? I think its fine for an addon to tell you to get our of bad, but when it starts telling you what way to run its a problem. Its also a problem when the encounters are so complex you need an addon to tell you what way to run. Same thing with class rotations. People are starting to need addons to tell them how to play there class. And thats being layered on top of addons telling them how to beat a boss. Everything needs to be scaled back.
implement better ways to track buffs and procs with customizable things like sounds and graphics, and remove autopilot raid addons and rotation helpers
implement better ways to track buffs and procs with customizable things like sounds and graphics
So weakauras?
I think its long overdue that add-on’s are regulated by Blizzard. I agree that some are detrimental to the game community, while others seriously improve game QOL.
I personally enjoy the following add-ons and feel they improve the games UI without damaging the community, and could possibly be integrated into the game:
Battle Pet Binds
Battle Pet Breed ID
Champion Commander
Covenant Mission Helper
Deja Character Stats
Garrison Commander
GatherMate 2
Grail & Wholly
Handy Notes
Mapster
NPC Scan
Order Hall Commander
Pet Journal Enhanced
Recount
Rematch
World Quests List
Venture Plan
Maybe Blizzard should hire the creators of the most popular add-ons to help integrate more useful UI features into the game client.
Note: I think the auction house, and UI regarding items in the game, needs some serious upgrades.
Yes, but without being able to make entire sets that trivialize dungeon or raid mechanics
Personal weakauras, basically
Wouldnt change that though, boss ability timers are just custom timers to display UI elements if you broke that function then people would just use a tool to post the ability timers on the screen and have a timer beside it.
If you want to stop things like DBM just randomise the abilities (how often they get cast and when) this will prevent addons from telling you when something will happen.
