while i agree about her relevancy shes not an âalliance high elfâ shes a dalaran elf. she never appears outside of the context of the kirin tor. she simply works in an inn that only serves humans and other alliance races IN dalaran
and really if you insist on counting her as an âalliance high elfâ then i guess all the other dalaran elves that perform services for the horde in dalaran are horde âhighâ elves
dalaran is a neutral kingdom along with the kirin tor(which the SC are a part of). it is not part of the alliance. just to drive home the point, every horde mage starts out as friendly with the kirin tor
I noticed as well and I think its likely going forward Void Elves will be commonly seen.
Blizzard knows how requested they are, and while I suspect weâll see more Blueberries than not alliance side, they may show off some specifically high elf looking Void Elves later.
I hope they keep to the Blueberry ones mostly at least though. Kinda got the impression during BfA that they intended to replace High Elves entirely when they started adding Void Elves.
I wasnât arguing her relevance as an Alliance character. I was stating that being named and reoccurring doesnât make her important. The friggin cheese vendor in Stormwind has more of a story than her Lanesh have.
Except she doesnât perform services for the Horde. Horde characters that enter the Silver Enclave get kicked out by Silver Covenant guards. Truth is that we donât know to what extent the SC are bound by Dalaranâs neutrality, it ainât like we can read any Dalaran laws. All we know is that pretty much every time they come up itâs to represent the Alliance, the only exception being the hunter order hall in Legion (where Lady Liadrin worked for my Alliance paladin).
But no Horde character can even have reputation with the Silver Covenant. Theyâre literally a part of the Alliance Vanguard.
I never suggested that it was done as a form of forshadowing, but I certainly do think it was done purposely. The fact that he was used in multiple locations, in multiple expansions has me under the impression that an error like that would have been caught at some point.
Blue eyes had a pretty big significance at this time, and I think whoever added them to him did it to evoke the idea of a High elf joining the Sunreavers. I think that same person was responsible for many of the blue eyed horde elves as well because when the elf eyes were being adjusted recently many of these blue eyed elves had their eyes turn green (with the notable exception of Lanesh) only to later receive their blue eyes again.
I guess I just donât see the endgame in doing this, taking the time to respond to a random tweet to make up a bunch of stuff about an inconsequential character. I personally think it was something Danuser might have toyed with during those expansions, so it caught his eye when they appeared on his timeline. He also made a celebration post for Blood elf blue eyes when it was finally confirmed. To me it seems like something heâs always supported.
Of course thereâs no way to really know, but I think Iâll go with Danusers word on this.
This article was a good read, especially the part on customization, so I thought Iâd share it here with everyone!
One of the things that players have wanted in WoW for so long is better character customization options to reflect themselves. Not just that, but whatever fantastical character they want to portray. Sarah and Patrick spoke on why now was the right time to include these updates.
It was important for them to do the update right, and allow players the option of properly being able to represent themselves if that was what they wanted for the character fantasy. As to why now? Bouilan Verral said: âShadowlands is all about player agency. Itâs the core theme of the expansion.â Choices are a big part of the expansion: What Covenant did you choose? How does your character develop over Shadowlands? What Legendary are you going to make?
Choices in how you look comes into that player agency, and so they didnât take it lightly. They wanted to be inclusive âto make everyone feel like they had a home in our game, and the sooner the better.â Seeing the reaction of fans for the current updates for customization has through posts on Reddit has also been incredibly heartwarming.
Dawson said: âUltimately, just to do it right took a massive undertaking, and a lot of development time, and we wanted to make sure that we committed to that in Shadowlands.â
âThis is just the beginning for our character customization, Iâm sure there will be more hair styles and eye colors, different things that we add throughout the course of what weâre learning from what people want in the community as a result of that.â
The team are incredibly proud of and happy with the additions for players in being able to express their fantasy, with Dawson adding: âWe hit the mark, thereâs still more to go, but we hit the mark.â
This seems perfectly plausible. We already know Grand Magus Telestra turned on Dalaran to get revenge for how the blood elves were treated, so a high elf joining the Sunreavers seems well within possibility.
Void options I got so far:
Posted this in the other thread too.
Chin tentacles!
Starcursed, and nâzoth eye color.
Ethereal type wraps.
Scars that show void energy beneath the wound.
Stark White and Void Black, violets, maroon, teals, blues, near neon orange and yellows, and Void(like their tentacles), and Starcursed hair colors.
Two tone hair color starting as a void color turning into a neon color.
Void fire effects to the hair.
Shadowy gas effects.
Third eye like Aszhara.
Void mouths and other old god corruptions.
Tentacle toggle.
Standard scars.
Ear slider.
Tattoos. Void and farstrider.
These are the things Iâd like to see instead of leaning more into high elf themes.
Some Ethereal Wraps variants provided by Somand and Hyper.
I have a general list for blood elves too, but I think AEDâs old list suffices very well still.
Regardless of whether or not it was intentional Lanesh was confirmed to canonically have blue eyes so that was nice. Sort of like how purple eyes were a bug and Blizz just decided to roll with it, itâs nice when it happens
Not sure about those glow colors⊠but also not against that at all. Very nice.
Edit: Would you be willing to do one using the Voidy coloration that our back âwingsâ on the heritage armor have? Iâd be curious to see that too. (I know thats very similar to what Somand did above.)
to me, the newer one just goes with the color pallete of voidwalkers, which is electric blue. but ethereals come in a variety of glows, mostly pinks, purples, white and what looks to be red.
its just more electric blue. i like it as a color, dont get me wrong, but its kinda redundant since you proc that color, end up being that color and your heritage gear is that color. overkill
