Continuation of New Customisation Options for: Void Elves, Blood Elves, & misc high elves

I could’ve sworn I saw some males with purple eyes too, but when Blizzard addressed the glitch they only mentioned females.

Dear Somand, get Lancelot to move away from his modem so he stops disconnecting.

I only ever saw them on females. I think male helves still had the issue of green glow coming from their blue eyes

I thought it was amusing how many helfers made such a big deal about getting their buds on a campaign to report them as bugs. lol All their efforts for naught.

Was this the purple eye glitch? People were ready to quit over that from what I saw lol, I remember the sentiment was “they gave us the VE skin tones only to change the HE eye colors??” And then basically “If they don’t give us the new purple then this is just Bliz trolling us!” I think some people like those that display they consider opposition personal attacks and or toxic when it’s just people opposed to the idea, take it too seriously.

I was referring to over the years how some helfers would keep track of any ‘blood elf’ in game that had blue eyes they were all about making sure blizz knew it should be ‘fixed’.

Oh wow I didn’t know that

That does seem a bit much too.

I still really like the new trainer in Orgrimmar, I hope we see more commentary on them about the idea of various HEs returning to QT.

I think lore wise it is fair to want to see. :hugs:

Not to be pessimistic, but we probably won’t be getting an explanation anytime soon. We’ll see some neat diversity though. Come to think of it, were gold eyes ever even acknowledged in game?

Sort of. Liadrin had hers changed and the Darkshore video shows a Blood Elf with gold eyes. So they are clearly around.

Nothing in a text box saying “hey my eyes are gold… thats new.” or anythign though.

Blue, Purple, and Pink is good enough for the Void Elves.

As long as Green or Yellow Golden Eyes isn’t added. People would be happy.

The forums won’t let me post on my void elf for some reason.

Lore-wise it was acknowledged as due to the purification of the Sunwell, although I believe it’s up to debate if non-priest or paladin blood elves would have it due to the former’s connection to the Light.

They need to add red eyes now for those people who want to be Dark Rangers.

He also has a unique name, which means that someone put at least a little thought into his character before adding him. And the fact that they then remembered him enough to add him into anther expansion (in an area full of High elves mind you) is pretty compelling. To continue nay-saying for sake of it sounds a little more far-fetched, especially when Danuser quite literally confirmed it himself.

What? You think the lead narrative writer would add something with huge lore implications… for the lulz? Come on.

This was a time when “blue eyes” were a defined marker between a Blood elf, and a High elf, I’m pretty sure his presence was meant to signify that he was a High elf who joined the Sunreavers (likely through Dalaran) Maybe he had common interests, and beliefs and felt he wanted to return home and contribute to his people - We don’t really know until his story is more fleshed out.

You can’t have it both ways - like you said, he’s just a repair vendor - he has no quests, no reason to really care why he’s there in the first place. If it were just a bug I’m sure Danuser wouldn’t have even taken the time to respond about it, nevermind make up a whole bunch of nonsense for a random repair vendor. This just feels like some tin-foil hat thinking.

They actually did get around to fixing them, except decided on leaving the blue eyes on them anyway. NPCs in the same instance had their nail polish fixed, among other details while the “blue eyed” horde elves were left untouched.

It seems to me that the person who responded calling that a bug wasn’t fully aware why it was done. It seems pretty wild to me that the lead narrative can say something and everyone decides he’s lying, but a one-off tweet from someone who was clearly unaware of what happened is solid evidence.

It’s world-building - He might not have an in-depth story they were willing to dedicate questlines on, but I’m pretty sure he was intended to be a High elf who joined the Blood elves and offer up some eye-candy for those who actually know the lore.

This is slightly off topic, but I was running an alt through Exiles Reach the other day. When I got to the part in the end where you listen to some narration as you fly into Stormwind for the first time on a Griffin. I noticed a brief scene where you see a Void Elf talking talking to a Dreani(in the background) I’m hoping that this means that Blizzard is planning on letting Velvs have more of a role in the Allaince in the future. Let me know if any of y’all noticed this as well. It was a blink and you miss it moment. Thus it’s easy to miss.

Neat. I didn’t notice that one, but I know they crop up a few placed in Bfa and what not. You can find one or two hanging out if you know where to look.

I should have specified. There are plenty of named NPCs that have reoccurred and have still been useless. Isirami Fairwind is an Alliance High Elf who has appeared on multiple occasions and even has her own hearthstone card yet she’s just as irrelevant as Lanesh.

If Lanesh was added knowing full well that he had blue eyes we know that it wasn’t foreshadowing the coming of customization options to players. It took almost 8 irl years for players to finally be given the option, a decision we know Blizz didn’t want to do as blue eyes were originally confirmed as NPC only options when they were first datamined. I’ll acknowledge that it’s possible that he was added for the sake of eye candy, that’s sort of what I meant when I said “for lulz”

I find it more likely that he was an opportunists way of adding depth and wonder. Had Danuser confirmed it as a bug and Lanesh suddenly had green eyes you’d forget him instantly. Quite smart of him, if you’d ask me. Even if we disagree on which is the more likely scenario surely you’d acknowledge the possibility that I’m right? Not like it matters anymore anyway

I’d respond in further detail but I gotta get ready for dinner with the in-laws. Have a good day, Snow
