Only one person here is describing the differences between the LGBT community as a negative stereotype. And I can tell you, that it’s not Isveria.
Guys, Hecatone gave us this lovely thread to chat in. Let’s not get it locked.
pretty boys don’t like scars.
Except your “frame of view” is perpetuating the message that “feminine” themes on men are some personal assault on your gender identity. All while telling any “feminine” gay man that they’re merely a negative stereotype.
I disagree.
He wanted to move away from a stereotype, so this isn’t comparable. He isn’t going to get murdered irl for this. He’s just voicing his opinion.
i agree. belf males have been given a rather unfair stereotype but i argue that they’ve long since earned their right to be treated however they want. they’ve run the gauntlet.
It’s okay pat pat
No, he said that “feminine” qualities on male characters are an insult to his identity as a trans man. That feminine customization for males is perpetuating a negative stereotype. Are we all not reading the same posts?
Yeah, that comment was pretty suspect. There is a lot of undercover stereotyping and prejudice within our community so I’m not that surprised, but stating that jewelry is feminine is just so wrong.
You’re also not being forced to wear the “feminine” jewelry options either. It’s like saying that long hair options are feminine, is it not? Jewelry comes in a ton of different styles, so give it a chance.
You still applied your logic to a male race. You brought IRL issue where there shouldn’t of have been any.
So that means an entire demographic of people shouldn’t be represented? And this has what bearing on your gender identity? and how is optional customization forcing anything on anyone?
I think that’s something people say that should be ignored. It has no basis, and it shouldn’t force us to eradicate anything that might be seen as feminine in the process of combatting random people’s rude comments on BEs.
I’m also in agreement jewelry as the only option is lackluster it should have been the last thing added as part of “ongoing customizations” but I don’t think it’s subjective femininity is what is wrong with it.
You would think a trans individual would be more SYMPATHETIC to gender expression. I know plenty of men who wear high heels and have long, straight hair and still consider themselves as men.
i promise not to advocate for more feminine customizations for blood elves, though i hope you dont mind if female belfs have some male belf hairstyles. cause the artists gave male belfs better hair. they did the same to venthyr. venthyr males are better looking than female venthyr.
It’s not though, you aren’t forced to use it?
We’re all different people, so his view as a trans man regarding feminine traits on a male character doesn’t align with how he views himself IRL. This is a RPG after all, we all try to put a bit of ourselves into our characters. He wants a negative stereotype about Blood Elf Males that has been a dumb running joke for 15 years to end.
He’s just voicing his opinion in regards to his player character.
If I had level 3 endorsement I’d insert a GIf of people standing up and clapping for you right now.
Thank
You!
it wont cause it’ll never happen. lol
if trans should get representation, then drag men should too!
I think the real problem with just ignoring that statement is that Blizz has joked around with it in the past.
I think this is all dancing around where the line is between representing a spectrum of identity in a race, and just pigeon holing it into a specific identity that not everyone wants. Especially when that identity hasn’t been taken seriously by the devs in the past.
I think many have realized by now that “joke” is overdone and not even funny.
