But see, that’s what’s so funny about this. The reaction to the meta change isn’t consistent to the arguments that were being made, which just proves that–no matter what they were actually writing in text–what was REALLY being said was:
“I am a GOOD PLAYER. The fact that I always lose has nothing to do with my ability or playstyle but is entirely the result of external factors. Also, my opponents are MEAN and CHEATERS.”
or
“I am a GOOD PLAYER. The fact that I am winning is in no way dependent on external factors. Also, my opponents are BADS and WHINERS.”
Maybe an odd game here or there but there was no point in Vanilla where 10 minute games with less than 5 HKs was the norm or regular.
The last months of Vanilla after patch 1.12 had more noobs than ever due to rampant population growth, who had no idea how to play AV or rush even with the removal of NPCs.
Did it speed games up? Certainly. Did it completely turn a hybrid battleground into nothing more than a PvE honor farm? Nah it really didn’t.
I absolutely love it when Horde decides to whine about a BG that they have an absolute clear advantage in, you lost, so what? move on, thats what we did for over a year
The few times I’ve faced a premade (I make a habit of looking at the alliance roster once the gates open.) There’s little communication amongst the horde. I will generally say “It’s a premade, call out incs, lets see what they do.”
A premade can be beaten, just requires a decent shot caller, Horde willing to listen, and quick reactions to what they’re doing.
Premades can be beaten but it’s best to do it with other premades. I’ve seen some recent horde premades in AV and it’s generally a guild or group of 10-15 queuing from the same realm. They can put up a real fight.
The problem is your first sentence “There’s little communication amongst the horde.” which I will agree with. Like you said about the shot caller, even raid warnings make a difference, but most of the time it’s just well scatter and die. For example 15 go run to SHB, 5 go run to SFGY, 5 try to get to Bal, 10 stay and defend, 2 run up to SP to try to ninja stuff and the rest just AFK.
Horde don’t seem too interested in a cross server premade discord succeeding especially since the non-premades alliance are still Drek and Keking right now (I won a Drek and Kek pug game on my alliance today and got 1088 bonus honor in 20 mins plus some from the kills of the horde defending but not much, it was a complete and boring waste of time), so this is probably how it will be for now with the typical pugs failing when a premade shows up just like it’s always been.
Agreed. The other problem being is that the Horde seem to be to set in their ways of the Zug Zug approach. Tactics are just something they will not adopt and the steamrolling will continue. I did win against a heavy Netherwind premade last night because 2 of us did shot calling and encouraged communication and reactive strats. The Alliance fought like hell it was a long albeit fun game.
Also editing to say the horde in phase 2 seemed to do less zugging in AV and more trying to win as a team. It does feel like a different player base now. It’s understandable though really, considering everything.
