Congrats Alliance, you retailed AV

Oh I agree AV is a boring BG but it can be fun when it’s not played in a boring way. I mostly avoided it for a long time because I don’t like the turtle and I do think WSG and AB are better. I think playing the rush strat is just as bad if not worse than the hour long turtle.

However I brought guildies in there over the weekend and we played defense and had fun. 5 people can screw up drek or kek pretty bad and so we’ll probably do it sometimes if that’s the meta that continues.

Boring people like to play in boring ways.

Also I just ended an AV to see what the meta is like this morning. Allies got 990 honor when winning, almost no kills, and the game was mind numbly boring. I can’t see them keeping doing this but if they want to well like I said I’ll be there with guildies at times to actually shake things up.

Zerging is boring, but so is being stuck north of SHGY when horde play scorched earth.

There’s certainly other ways to play it but it seems like those are the only two ways people will play it.

I feel like this is really the best solution for both factions. Horde get drastically reduced queue times while Alliance get easy wins and more rep than before. What’s to hate about it?

The only real complaint is there is no PvP.

But in terms of time/rewards yes base racing and LT farming it is the best for both factions.

If I wanted to pvp, I’d go out into the world and look for people to kill.

AV has always been a PvE game.

I personally enjoyed AV as a ranged DPS class being able to stack kills with LB and Chain lightning.

I love world PVP. I like the AB and WSG BGs a lot too.

I have at least 150 days /played PVPing.

AV I found boring for so long but in the last few weeks it’s been more of a PVP game and therefore actually fun. So, I think it’s sad that people want to make it boring again when it was actually fun for a few weeks.

Imagine doing AV phase 6. You do that sh*t when it comes out. Was it like alliance 90% win rate with 15minute wins?

yes but with BIS tanks and DPS.

I’m convinced it’s “supply” and demand.

Lots of new players ding 51-60. Both Alliance and Horde.

Lots of alli queue up which makes queue times shorter. Lots of horde already were queue’ing up, but now it’s a 4-minute wait time and stubborn alli players want to figure out a strategy to win for more rep. Alli finally does that by making it the norm to skip the slobberknocker in the middle of the map and rush Drek instead, but this time effectively and with at least 30 players. Horde has a longer path to alli base so it’s a long shot for them to win unless they have a good defense; ultimately it’s a much cheesier AV but there’s still some modicum of strategy.

Funny enough alli doesn’t really care that horde gets more honor, because alli is mainly focused on earning rep (a TON of toons in AV rn seem to be alts and fresh players) and if all alli players are earning less honor then no one is drowning in it moreso than any others for just doing AV and it all evens out for them.

Really the only downside with current AV games is for Horde as they are pressured to prioritize AV that much more to keep up with honor gains whether they want to or not, and for anyone that misses the hour long AV games (granted with 2 hour queues).

Blizzard retailed AV when they chose the 1.12 version.

Yup, all the good and well known players had thier own private discord and because of it I hit exalted in two weeks. Swifty and jokerxd were part of this s discord, it was alot of fun.

I wonder if Horde players are embarrassed by threads like this. Riding on the coattails of IBGY for the past year until enough Alliance left the obviously imbalanced BG to allow premades to become a thing again.

There’s nothing Blizzard can do about premades this time. It’s not caused by manipulating the queue, it’s caused by literally not enough players queueing for AV anymore to split them up. Nothing they can do about a lack of players queueing that allows coordinated groups to get into the same game. Except, you know, making caves a last resort rez so Alliance can meaningfully assault IBGY. But you guys screamed to high heaven against that, so choke on it. You opted out of the best-case scenario change in favor of the worst-case scenario change, which is Alliance continuing to leave an obviously imbalanced BG to the point where there aren’t enough games going to split up coordinated groups, allowing premades to become a thing again.

Funniest part is this will become MUCH worse in TBC.

Wait til TBC AV when horde lose 99% of the time because it was ‘Drek or Kek’ and 10 minute games WITHOUT the need for discord or any other type of communication. The tears will be glorious.

Horde uses map to have a year long AV win streak

Alliance start ignoring map and just rush last objective

Horde still trying to play map objectives expecting other team to follow suit

When Alliance play the map they lose. When horde play the map they win.

When Alliance ignore the map and rush and Horde still try to play the map Horde loses.

When alliance ignore the map and Horde defends the last objective Horde wins.

When AV was released it was the exact same. Now here we are over a year later and all the f’ing memento memory scrubs are acting like premades are a new thing.

#sigh. This is entirely dependent on the version of the map they give us. If they choose to have AV follow the patches (they won’t, but who knows), then it will be Alliance tears until the 2.3 version drops.
