I wouldn’t call it a Knight then in any fashion.
I would like a Void based class or spec, but I think that anything resembling a Void Knight belongs in the realm of a Paladin. Just my opinion.
Semantics, knight isnt always associated with holiness. Its usually associated with warriors who devote themselves to a cause, be it the church, the queen, a code, whatever. Paladins would all be knights, but not all knights are paladins sort of thing.
Considering it’s just a concept that someone came up with, nothing is set in stone. LOL
And the entire point is… IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE.
Geebus, are people really this unimaginative?
Yeah, that sounds pretty interesting. The only issue you run into is that it would mean an Alliance only class, because they’re not going to teach it to the Horde when they’re Alliance.
Knights come in many forms, but a different name is not out of the realm of possibility either! Any thoughts on what would make for a new class name?
Case in point … death KNIGHT.
There no reason we can’t have Void Mages either.
No, there isn’t really. But this idea is about a 2 melee spec/1 caster spec class.
Yet, you state it as a fact.
No, it doesn’t have to be. If I’m so unimaginative, then why don’t you give an explanation as to why mail makes the most sense?
I get that, but it’s a lot harder to create a class than a spec without stealing from other classes and that also makes sense lore-wise. If there’s a way to make it unique enough then I’m all for it but it would take a lot to get Blizzard to bite.
This is unfortunately true.
That’s what I’m here to try and do, make it unique and expand it.
Even if bliz doesnt “take the bite” this entire post was more just for conceptualizing and having fun being creative with a class idea.
His class concept is a mix of melee and caster specs. A new title for the class to make it more open to both?
… and? Still tons of ways to be creative with it.
Could be lots of reasons. Spell casting dps in this game has no plate wearers. That could be because it’s too heavy, too bulky, interferes with too many spells, etc. They could want more movement that plate doesn’t give them while casting and being melee, etc.
It’s really not that difficult, honestly. Especially when we’ve got NPCs running around with spells and abilities we don’t have and there’s a ton of lore that hasn’t really been touched on yet.
As for the reason why this would be mail over plate, only remotely legitimate reason i can come up with would be along the lines of this.
The void is an expansive, shapeless force. Mail would provide protection to the mortal host of the void, where as plate is more binding.
THe only problem with this rational is why not wear cloth and let the void protect the body… or god forbid another leather class. Void elves sure as hell dont seem to concerned about being covered up with their heritage set.
Indeed, that’s why this thread is here.
You could use this reason to make it leather or cloth aswell.
This first part is true, and the second part could be. It could be cool to have a plate wearing caster, instead of being tanky by using magic to protect itself, it could use the armor and focus entirely on being offensive. As for the melee specs, they could also focus on using offensive magic and weapons to be entirely offensive with their magic/weapon instead of defensive.
Later, not yet lol.
Cloth as melee with a sword? I don’t see it. And leather? We could literally argue that for any existing class, though. Shamans wear mail. They could easily wear leather, too, but they don’t. Do we really need a specific reason as to why Shamans and this new class wear mail? Not really.
Spells that run through the armor to utilize it? Hmm. Not sure that really fits WoW’s casting style or theme. Almost feels like trying to go the route of Tinker, using a suit to do the damage for you. I’m personally not too keen on that, but that’s just me.
Using armor for defense instead of using magic to be defensive, that way the magic/melee weapon can be used entirely offensively.
Hmm basically the Lovechild of a Death Knight and Subtlety Rogue.
… Oh my. o////O
Ghostblade X Death Knight is a criminally underrated ship.
If so Void Knights should have access to stealth; due to it being the trademark of all Dark Theme Melee.

All I have to say.
Oh no. Lilanas is here.
Wasn’t a hero unit in Warcraft 3. So it’ll never happen.
Ez Clap
No thanks, still waiting on the next class to finally be a caster. We’ve had 3 new classes and everyone of them has been melee.
3 specs were suggested above, worth reading those before commenting on this thread.
