Concept for a new class: Void Knight

Warlocks and mages are opposites. Warlocks use magic that stems from disorder, mages use magic that stems from order. Why not just make them specs of the same class aswell?

You’re the one with the obsession over one example that’s been explained over and over and over again, not me. You’re wrong, move on.

No they don’t. You’re wrong. Move on.

So can Warriors. So can AN ENTIRELY NEW CLASS NOT BASED OFF OF ANYTHING.

Shocking how that works?

I’m just going to ignore you now.

Spell idea for a similar spell shared across all specs
Void Touch: Deals shadow damage in an AOE, afflicting each target hit with touch of the void which will burst after a few seconds in a smaller weaker aoe. no additional hits after that
for Shadowblade (adopting that name courtesy of Zurogrusel): It be self targeted, high damage, decent CD-15ish seconds maybe.
For Discipline: Self targeted, medium-low damage, high threat yield.
For Riftwalker: (Also courtesy of Zurogrusel)
Spell name: Reach of the void- Centered on target, short cast time 1.5-2 seconds. similar damage to shadow blades, maybe a bit higher CD and some interaction with another spell.
Edited

I liked my riftwalker idea :’(

You’re not even listening.

Nothing against the riftwalker idea, honestly a better idea than what i came up with

Wasn’t that one of the souls in Rift?

So the DARK PALADIN from Everquest 2?

But Warlock and Mage have pretty stark flavor and play style differences. How would you make a Void Knight without pretty much painting a Paladin with Void abilities?

Not sure what that means. I used it as a name for a caster spec idea, based around using portals to shoot pure void energy. Similar to how the destruction artifact ability worked. Could use normal spells to buff portal, or use portals to buff spells which would be the primary damage dealer. Could add different portals/spells to do different things.

Expansion of shadow. Order and disorder are opposites. Shadow and light are opposites. There’s no saying shadow couldn’t become unique and different from light as order is from disorder.

You dare bring up that travesty of a game?

Oh boy, stuff just got real lol

Lol. Nothing against EQ2 personally just never could get into it. Less than stellar graphics without the old school charm of EQ1. And game play felt pretty clunky IMO

lol do you have a history with Everquest 2?

I heard it went through a similar wow experience.

Dumbing down mechanics and such.

I’ll bite one last time…

Open your mind to new concepts and stop obsessing over ONE freaking example that wasn’t even meant to be THE way it had to be and move on.

Do I seriously have to put you on actual ignore? C’mon now… you’re not this closed minded to get so triggered that you tunnel vision and obsess over one lousy example, when the rest of the thread has moved past it and is coming up with all sorts of idea. Shame you can’t get your head out of that tunnel.

NOW I’m done with you.

Ah, wasn’t sure if you had played Rift or not. And I was wrong anyway, it was called Riftblade.

Only reason I asked is because Rift does have a Void Knight class and it was pretty fun.

I doubt that.

If this one big argument was about being open minded.

Then i suggest you elaborate more on that instead of whatever you are currently doing.

It’s more than just one example.

I already said multiple pieces of the class borrows from shadow priests.

If you have a problem with me disliking a concept or seeing something in a certain way, then you need to grow thicker skin.

See you next sunday i guess.

I agree that it’s pretty stupid that some people argue we can’t have Shadow Paladins because of Death Knights, or we shouldn’t have Shadow Priests because of Warlocks, but from the way I see it this is pretty much trying to say that Fire Mages should be their own class.

I don’t even know how you managed to equate that with this. At all.

Paladins have nothing to do with the Void and they also don’t wear mail and also don’t have a caster dps spec. This is entirely different. This is a mail wearing caster and melee class that has nothing to do with Paladins.

It could be a Shadow Priest who wanted to become a bit like a Battle Mage, though that limits it to a certain type of lore. It’s an entirely separate class, with an entirely new background that we can come up with. It could even be based off of the witch’s magic in Drustvar, which comes from the Nightmare, which is Void. Or it could be a Hunter who wants to focus more on the dark arts. They did have Black Arrow, once upon a time.

Lots of ways this can go if people would stop trying to equate a mail wearing Void user to a Paladin.

This isn’t entirely decided. As mentioned earlier, it’s more like it’s mail for the sake of being mail. It’d make more sense as plate. There’s several other class suggestions that would fit mail much better.

The spec suggestions also had two melee and one caster spec. The melee just had a few casts and caster a few melee attacks.

I even mentioned that it could have been a class started by alleria or her teacher, which would make sense for them to try and make void warriors.
