Community is just as Toxic as ever?

I don’t think it’s a good idea for a brand new player jumping into dungeons when you’ve played this game for only 2 days to begin with.

Maybe try learing your spells / rotations / how this game works in general a little more and then start from there…?

Like a few people already mentioned, joning a guild and/or making friends who is knowlegeable about this game & playing with them will make a huge difference and can make this game more enjoyable.

Highlight the word(s) in the post you want to quote, and click the little box that says ‘Quote’ above the highlighted words.

Or maybe I once played it? And I also once played WoW? And I can thus compare the two?

You know, you’re kind of proving OP’s point…

in these forums if 4 people dont like what you say and they report you for trolling your account is suspended and blizzard says we FEEL we have taken the right action.

ill take the down votes.

I played both since they came out. I didn’t just hop on the free trial and then try to make an assessment.

How exactly do I prove the OP’s point? lol

Yes, you are correct on that. On Reddit, if enough people don’t like what you say, they can downvote you into oblivion and there is no “24 hours” of not being able to post. It’s a permanent inability to post much until you hopefully dig yourself out of that hole.

OK so…

My take is alot of people from other countries that feed off of gold and cash related sales… do not want you to gear up from dungeons,… they want you to buy the stuff from the AH…therefore they send out griefing partys to grief people in dungeons and raids. It is the only explanation i can think of besides them just being a terrible person at heart. They do this ALOT in mythics so it is clear as day their agenda.

Ignore their account, this game is a job to some people and you should clear these people from your game.

I suggest go look up “sellin gold or accounts in wow” on google then you will see what they are trying to sell and then you start to think about it more. Same with why there was a big uproar over master loot… it’s because they have to work harder to gear toons they sell.

They are ruining the game on purpose because they are getting nerfed… and it seems it may be working.

It’s obvious that blizzard is opening their eyes about it though so… it’s only a matter of time that these scrubs end thier own way of making money off stealing intellectual property owned by someone else and profiting from it.

There is definitely a toxicity problem in the community, however you won’t find much sympathy on these forums. The Activision-Blizzard apologists like to pretend everything is sunshine and rainbows, despite all evidence to the contrary. They also like to blame the victim in these kinds of posts, even if you are new to the game.

If you want community then that’s what guilds and friends lists are for.

You can’t judge the entire community based on how people act in anti-social solo player content like LFD levelling dungeons.

Nuttier than a pilowcase full of Snickers.

Doesn’t hurt to communicate to the party about being new and learning about dungeons. As much as people want to label the whole community toxic, there are still good apples in the bunch that will understand and offer help or patience.

Its not the whole community, it IS a good chunk of who end up with in LFD though. Many who are willing to work with you, guide you and teach you will be in guilds running guild groups unless theyre doing LFD for a particular purpose or to kill time. Ask around for help and find a helpful guild. I have spent hours at max level healing for low level players so that they can take their time to learn. I remember where I started and those that helped me, I feel its important to do the same for others. There are many out there willing to do the same. Maybe for random players, maybe for guildies only but there are plenty of helpful players left.

Well deserved kick imo.

Find a friendly guild with some active people in it. You will not have this problem anymore. Although, honestly Grizzlee made great points. You do seem very knowledgeable for a 2 day player.

As you can see from responses, many of the nicest players who are willing to overlook mistakes are long gone and the rest of them only do instances with friends.

Your average player in pugs now is just about getting through efficiently and fast. If you impede that, you’re gone.

I often wonder, given this go go go and don’t interact way of playing, WHY such folks even like an MMO. If you are just treating other players like NPCs, why not play a game populated with NPCs?

Anyway, mostly long gone are the days when strangers helped new players or unskilled players. But I remember every time someone was patient with me, offered to help, taught me something. And I loved when I could do that for others.

Almost everyone clicks yes on the votekick button regardless of the reason. Everyone in the group is a stranger and you’ll have a new one in a few seconds. It sucks, but that’s the cost of a quick convenient LFG tool. Also, most WoW players have been playing for years. There’s not much tolerance these days for new players. I’m sort of surprised new players pick up WoW. The whole concept of the MMO has been dying for a while.

proof right there… nice try though?

That’s probably true for most multiplayer games.
And guilds (or corporations / alliances in my other main game) can be quite variable in the level of community.

It’s a huge issue. Finding non-toxic people is a chore now. Mostly it’s due to convenience trumping immersion and community. Why wait for someone to learn if you can just votekick them?

I’ve played for 12 years and still tell people when joining a group that I’m new.
That way, if I do good they’re like, “whoa, this dude’s good for being new” and if I suck they’re like, “this guy’s terrible - but he’s new so it’s understandable.”
