Community is just as Toxic as ever?

So as I’m currently 2 days new to this game and am still learning the ropes i’m discovering that a solid amount of players in this game are insanely toxic.

Two seperate dungeons (out of the 4 i’ve done so far) i’ve been kicked, both of which were for errors so small it’s actually shocking.

First time I was kicked tailing behind my group to pick up materials for a quest i needed. (Bow for my hunter)

Second time i was kicked for accidentally tab targeting a dummy and lagging into a boss causing him to aggro and kill me.

All being said, the fact that 3 people voted yes each time is mind boggling. It’s like all the community cares about are the elite players and those who already know what they’re doing. They turn a non-caring eye to the new members of the community and in a world where MMO’s are a dying game, to see one this amazing with such a bad community is really upsetting.

Here is the thing… I don’t like the word toxic. It doesn’t really have a meaning. From reading what you did I would honestly expect you to be kicked.

The only problem here seems to be your attitude that your mistakes shouldn’t have negative consequences for you just for other people.

It’s not hard to just follow the group and press the, like, 3 buttons you need to dps.

lol at trying to make this about elitism when they kicked you for walking into a boss and dying.

Most people just hit the Yes button to vote kicks. Nothing personal.

It really isn’t that surprising. In most online games i have played it seems like when a game launches everyone is nice and friendly as people learn the game together. But as time goes on people get less and less helpful/forgiving as they assume people should know. Or should have studied before doing anything. And it just keeps getting worse as time goes on.

I would suggest just ignoring the dumbos and looking for a guild. There are lots of friendly guilds out there who treat members well. and having a group of people there to help or play with can go a long way to helping you ignore the dumbos.

Welcome to WoW. As you can see from the replies, full competence is expected regardless of how new you are.

Is not auto walking into a boss and dying instantly really a bar that is to high to set for people?

Did you tell them you’re new?

If you’re new to the game or a class or spec, tell people you’re new. You will get cut a lot of slack and actually get some useful info from the other players.

Otherwise, in their eyes you know what you’re doing and people who know what they’re doing and do the stuff you did are jerks.

So important to know to be honest. Otherwise I’ll be screaming obsurities into my monitor. But if Your kicked just learn what you did wrong and Improve. The game is so easy at low level now you hardly should wipe on anything. Just look into learning your class and getting better.

I’ve been in dungeons while leveling before where a vote had been started to kick people who obviously didn’t know what they were doing. But that wasn’t their fault, it was also obvious they were probably on their first characters. Voted “no” and called out the vote in chat and found out it was the tank (it’s always the tank :stuck_out_tongue:) voting just because they weren’t “pulling their weight”.

This has happened in Wailing Caverns and Stockades by the way. Bleeding edge content, right? XD

There are toxic players in this game but what we have is paradise compared to games like League of Legends of Final Fantasy XIV. Those games, people will threaten you, call you derogatory things and nothing will happen.

From just the information you stated, those are not reasons to kick someone. Is there more to it? Did someone say “come on!” and you replied in a nasty way?

If you inform me that you are new, than I would thank you for saving everyone their time and kick you on the spot.

In your rush to belittle the OP, you passed over the part where he/she stated that they ’ lagged ’ and walked into the boss. It’s happened to the best of us.

Interesting guild name. Was it intended to be satirical?

Then we are back to consequences should only have effects on other people…

This. It could say “Reason: Likes Cheese Sandwiches” and they’d still vote yes.

People always claim that others just vote yes for some reason but no one ever says that they always vote yes. It’s a dumb myth.

There’s only a few minor issues that stand out to me:

  1. community is just as toxic as ever - implying you’ve dealt with the community in the past

  2. you very well understand the vote kick system

  3. you understand the gravity of your actions that led to being kicked

Those 3 points go to show that you’re not “2 days” brand new to the game, but using an alt to cause a minor uproar where there doesn’t need to be. Shame on you. Sunday is still a few days away

And the fact you ran straight to the forums to complain nonetheless. Can’t fool us!

So here is the deal. First off, dungeons is probably not the most efficient way to level.

People assume they are running with people that know what they are doing. They assume the entire group has done this a bazillion times already.

Just say something. Hey guys how’s it going? I’m new so please bear with me. Any advice is appreciated. Solves the great majority of the issues.

There will always be some that don’t care and derive the giggles from doing it. There is nothing you can do but move on. Don’t let a few idiots dictate your fun and enjoyment.
