Community is just as Toxic as ever?

How is the community toxic as ever if your new to the game doesn’t that mean you had to have played the game before to know what the game was like?

also saying 1 sec getting quest item would have helped because they dont know what you are doing if someone looks at map and your 5 packs behind they might think your afking and feign death if you pull stuff

Once you know what you’re doing, maybe. But maybe OP wanted to actually learn the game. If that’s how you DPS I would boot your behind out of my group.

Depends on how long you’ve been playing. Depends on your lag. Depends on if you were distracted by one of the 47 other panels or windows or alerts the game can throw at you. Depends on if you see the boss and are familiar with its aggro range. Depends on a bunch of things. Takes time to learn.

And the elitism begins.

Once you’re victimized by it you gain a new level of appreciation. And the system isn’t that complicated to begin with. It’s easy to get a basic grasp without taking a 12 week course.

Because OP likely had it screamed at him via pink text.

That’s quite a leap. You may want to loosen up the tinfoil hat.

People are elitist and incredulous to the concept of ‘new players’.

Maybe OP did. Maybe OP didn’t quite how to know how to speak in group chat at that moment. Maybe he /said it and the group was out of range. By the same logic the group could have spent 1 second to ask what’s up.

Unless you people want the game to die an elitist death I suggest you have a bit of patience for new players, especially in content that is there precisely for the reason of giving people a chance to learn. I’d rather this guy learn in Gmonergon or the Deadmines instead of waiting till he gets to max level and is in my M+ group totally unaware of how to misdirect or throw traps or handle soaks.

Brand new newbies who want to do group content should join a social guild and start with their dungeon runs there.

If you are pugging, you are pretty much expected to know the 8.0 content by now. If you jump in unprepared, you’ll be looked at as wasting the group’s time. Unfortunately, that’s just the way the world works inside (and outside) the game.

Which achievements? For who? What am I looking for? If we’re talking about OP I fail to see what you mean.

Here is what he has done…

Reached level 110 - Free boost
Unlocked artisan flying - Boost again
5 dungeon quests
5 daily quests
250 total quests
Some Darkmoon Faire stuff
5 dungeons completed in Classic

None of these go back any farther than a week. What was your point again?

Ignore their account and you will never hear from them again nor group with them again. Something hard about this?

The griefers start feeling the ouch after waiting in ques longer and longer and longer.

If you are looking for community in a game, you’ve come to the wrong place. GW2 will be a much better choice for you.

That’s why you should never be a griefer unless you are a tank or healer.

I only read the comments in this thread to see if anyone else came to these conclusions.
This is my assessment of this post as well.

I like how. You take a small snippet, the part attempting. To explain why it may have happened, and ignore the rest of the post. You know the part where suggestions were made to help the OP?

But that is ok. Continue to push your narrative. You do you.

I feel for new people trying to come in to this game, the current player base has no time or energy to help the new player. That being said, those really aren’t toxic behaviors. They just didn’t want to spend time with someone new. Toxic would be more like after they kicked you sending you whispers calling your horrible names, taking to the forums to call you out, making fun of you from alts, etc.

In the mmo genre it is best to develop some thicker skin as it will always be a roll of the dice to see who you end up with in a random group. I would suggest start looking for a guild of like minded people and make some friends leveling in there. Group with them and make some leveling partners. The looking for group queue is just there to level, very few now a days want to help the new player without motivation sorry to say OP. Best of luck!

I am sorry you are experiencing that and the lagging thing, but for something like that, most people would kick you. As for the the quest stuff, I do the dungeon quests all the time when leveling an alt and I never got kicked. You must have been extremely far back which honestly is a good reason to be kicked because they might have taken it as you looking for them to do all the work while you just hang back and reap the rewards.

Overall though, not all groups are like that. I honestly haven’t seen many toxic groups. Maybe next dungeon you join you should say off the bat you are new and to please be understanding. For me, I would have no problem with that and also offer help or answer any questions. Plus, low level dungeons aren’t hard so it is no problem. Anyone who kicks you for saying that is a jerk but you will find many who understand.

FFXIV has one of the nicest communities out there, ESPECIALLY compared to WoW’s.

Nice try, fanboy.

Ah, well now I’m convinced that 2 out of 2 dungeon experiences absolutely prove the entire playerbase of WoW is supremely toxic.
Did you include yourself in that number?
Also…if you’re ‘new’ then why do you state ‘toxic as ever’ as if you have prior experience?

It isn’t that surprising, but it’s still disappointing. As the player base has dwindled, it seems like many of those remaining are toxic.

Best bet it to find a good guild. In my guild we specifically look for brand new players and we do all that we can to teach people the ropes of dungeons and raids as well class expectations and rotations.

You mean ignore this?

I could’ve sworn I addressed this subject…

So tell me more about what I’m ignoring.

I think the “toxic” element came from the mixed messages blizzard is promoting.

We are going to timegate to make you go slower and enjoy the content / We have built in timers so you can learn to go faster.

We have built in a wardrobe so you can be creative / We put in 300 types of gold trim so you kind of want to keep the outfits as they are.

We put a bunch of world quests in so you will never get bored / We made them worthless after a certain point so you can stop doing them.

We have tools to keep you from doing nasty stuff in groups / Grats you can also use those tools on others.

In a odd way blizzard is promoting the additude’s it’s trying to fight mearly by trying to kater to everyone equally. I’m not sure how this can be solved.

I however would love to see a poster have to announce the tone of the post before posting so that others know what tone to read it in. I think that could help with a lot of the confusion on the threads.

I would also love to see the timers go away and just see a stacking de-buff that makes things more difficult as time goes on. The finality of the timer is driving a lot of people batty.

First welcome to wow OP.

Second, my advice to new players, is do NOT do dungeons AT ALL, without a guild…pugs are just naturally intolerant to new players, and this is why; the large majority of them are leveling their 15+ toon, such as an Allied Race or whatever, so they are just there to get leveling over and done with, they will get annoyed with new players holding them back.

When majority of people you level with are in BOA armor these days, a new player just naturally holds the group back you see, it’s just how it rolls…just quest for now, at least until you get a guild, otherwise you are just going to hold people back from getting leveling out the way…

Sadly you need to level to unlock heritage armor for allied races, and most people hate leveling these days.

“Just as toxic as ever?”

“…as ever?”
