Community Council member unleashes their inner Worgen

This. It was a singular artist that essentially just did two pieces of worgen headcanon fan art as it went against all the other artists working on Cata that drew worgen stuff. Keep in mind that worgen have also existed in-game since Vanilla with the established lack of a tail, so he was essentially just doing his own thing for fun.

The only reason it’s “official Blizzard art” is because most companies typically have it in their artists contracts that all art they make is property of Blizzard. Regardless, concept art in general is non-canon.

Since 2004 worgen have never had a tail in WoW canon

not a single bit of that art was from WoW.

When I see the state of the game in terms of lore and customization, frankly it’s not the addition of a tail that will destroy it more than that…
I agree that we can’t accept everything that’s present in Hearthstone, otherwise we’d have neon pink Worgen DHs with tails and wings… it’s… I think the creator of this card went a bit too far…

The wish to have a tail on a worgen seems to be shared by some artists and players, the only ones who don’t seem to be the developers or some of their leaders…
Will adding a tail really destroy the lore? What should I say about certain customizations and classes?

Here’s the thing. At the end of the day, tails for worgen are a customization option that has been asked for since Cataclysm. Whether the Devs intended for it to be a thing or not, doesn’t change the want for this option, or the criticism that the models look incomplete without it, some will disagree with that, but it is a subjective opinion.

However, it is possible to work tail into the lore very easily. All it takes is a ‘blessing’ from Goldrinn and boom. Tails.

An optional tail will not hurt anyone. It will instead make people happy. Just like every other customization option that people request for all the other races. It’s things that we, as consumers, want for the races that we play. And we, as consumers, are voicing our desires to those that produce this game.

That’s it. Nothing more, Nothing less. You can argue against it or for it. But arguing against it is kind of weird because you’re just saying, hey, I don’t want you to have this thing that you as a community want. A rather…weird stance.

Wow. They changed the game. In a game that always changes. Quelle surprise, mon.

Ye get your tails as soon as Blizzard stops cutting me beard off when I wear a helm.

WoW characters just remove their wigs/fake beards when putting on their helms.

But they’re nothing under me beard. Just empty black void of nothingness.

People wave the “out of lore” card without even considering the world in which their stories evolve… This is a magical world first and foremost, the addition of a tail can be passed on by any mage with a modicum of skill. We destroy cosmic creatures, travel to impossible places, equip ourselves with armor and weapons that can drive us mad, accept thousand-year-old enemies as if it were a simple quarrel, races that were pious fall into illogical corruption, races are raised up when they have no reason to be dead… but yes, adding an optional tail will destroy the lore, a lore that has spaceships facing swords…

It doesn’t even take that. There’s no Worgen tail lore. It doesn’t need to be retconned. They can just make it a customization option. We go to the barber shop, boom there is our tail.

Alternatively, we could have a quest wherein the Worgen raid a Vulpera settlement, loot their tails, and a leather worker fashions a fabulous belt that adds a Worgen tail appearance. Fox hunts, indeed!

Eh, I like Vulpera too much for that. Plus their tails aren’t nearly long enough for a good wolf tail

Dwarven beards are sacrosanct, this truly is a crime against your race.

Honestly this should have been implemented YEARS ago. Along with Hats no longer hiding your hair.

I will never understand why a minor portion of the player base continually thinks the entire game should be developed around their fan-fic class fantasies.

This was literally my hope for this year and seeing that there’s no portal is just truly gobsmacking.

Who the hell is saying the entire game should be designed around fanfic fantasies? People are just asking for the content relevant to the race to have the things designed for it not be terrible.

“All content created relevant in any capacity to the game should be in the manner I decide, how I decide it should be, and be exclusively in the manner I want it to be implemented”

is the pretty firm-sent message of the continual whinging over not getting minuet race-based changes to one of the eleven currently available races.

Dracthyr have a realistic complaint in that in lore there’s characters able to fight/maintain visage form. The literal launch and release had them in such a guffaw’d state that players memed it non-stop. They’re so broken the class set designs themselves don’t even work on dragon form… and you don’t hear them crying/spamming tails over how their fursona can’t have a tail.

bro the quest was literally 15 minutes long

“how DARE you complain about this steak, so what if it’s so underdone it’s raw? Are you entitled?”

Your specific heritage quest is not a driving, nor focal point in the story. It’s an appeasement quest to justify a reason to give you a racial themed armor set for free to transmog to.

Idk if that in any way ever got misrepresented to you - but every heritage quest set is terrible, and they’re all excuses to give away the t-mog set with minor work.

They’re not Skyrim class-fantasy-driven lore deep-dives designed to give you months of content so your fur-kin earns their fangs or whatever you’ve convinced yourself.
