ClassicLFG

Then where does this “slippery slope” lead?

I actually played Vanilla, and remember similar addons. This does not diminish anything about Vanilla, you still have to get to know the person throughout the hour or longer dungeon, still need to travel, and it’s on your server. I don’t understand what you are concerned over, why is it a bad thing to create more groups and have more people experience vanilla dungeons?

I expect Blizzard to make an official statement bout this soon. Whether they are going to investigate it. Or leave it alone. Or kill it. Or wait and see what happens. Either way one of those things is going to be said.

And I’ll respect Blizzard’s decision because I know that I don’t know what’s best for the game. And I don’t speak for everybody.

it leads into the bowels of hell, atleast according to some.

Oh i did as well, I just find it funny players cant play without it. That was all.

The video showing autoinvite and talent inspection was so fake that the author said he is going to go back and remove those features?

Sounds to me like the author got caught and is desperately trying to backpedal and save his hide.

I just find it funny some people are so worried someone might see a group forming in a gui window instead of chat that they get completely bent out of shape.

I’m glad we have things that make us laugh. lol

This isn’t the same thing as the dungeon finder, this just gives you a list of possible party members. It’s essentially a pad of paper writing down the people that are interested in running the same dungeon as you.

The community aspect came from running to the dungeon, completing the dungeon etc. it didn’t come from me spamming general chat and whispering every priest my level to come do an instance.

Fiction Fesz back at it again with some unfounded slander.

Unsurprising.

Eh what happened here?

I was thinking something along the lines of gearscore. Or progression listed beside names. something similar to a raider io score.

But some people here have made clear that the addon is limited as to what it can access. So I’m against it but I don’t totally hate it anymore.

k, still doesn’t change my opinion

I made a little post at work today haha

Oh dear, I’ve got some bad news for you…

break it to me gently

this is a general statement and not an endorsement of any addon you happen to be talking about at any time

You continue to make bizarre assumptions about the functioning of the addon without even attempting to look into it or understand it.

It simply repeats a custom message you type out yourself and repeats them while you’re looking for people in the chat channel you specify. It’s no different than writing your own message in a macro or copy and pasting the same thing into chat yourself.

False.

Get rid of the intentionally obtuse people desperately grasping at straws trying to come up with a reason to hate this addon please.

Most people use parsable common language when looking for groups. If your fancy way of asking for a group isn’t resulting in response, change your tactics.

“I refuse to use basic common sense and realize that my claim is completely baseless and factually incorrect.”

Also, again to clarify for people about the video posted in the other thread, it was taken in BfA, but it was the ClassicLFG addon. You can DL the addon yourself, put it in the BfA addon folder and load the addon in BfA to see what it looks like because the API is the same. It does seem to have an auto-invite checkbox that people are overreacting to.

  1. Auto-invite and auto-accept were common features of addons in vanilla.

  2. Blizzard could easily disable this feature without breaking the addon if they actually cared

  3. It likely won’t be used frequently for dungeon groups because you’ll be looking for specific classes/roles and will not want to auto-invite anyone in the first place. If you make a group for a quest or something, perhaps you’d turn on auto-invite because you don’t care what spec/role the other people doing the quest are.

and, furthermore, they don’t care. If they didn’t have it on their private server, and if it includes a trigger word like “shard” or “LFG,” anyone who doesn’t immediately assemble with torches to ritualistically burn it with them will also get tossed onto the pyre. They’re hunting for heretics, man. No changes only means no changes when they don’t like the changes, but if the changes are changes they think should be changed, then it’s totally fine. Don’t disagree. Just back away slowly.

Honestly, I downloaded it. I’m gonna have a look at it on Monday. If it’s super automated or does anything other than pluck out the LFG ads for me, I won’t use it. If it does that, however, I will love it and keep it and use it daily.

I know its not directed at me but absolutely not. I consider it cheating.
