i think ppl forget the leggo rng in legion, and the million runs of maw of souls they did
like how does asmongold have 99 parses in emerald nightmare

I am 42 years old and played since Vanilla. The reason a lot of people left the game was their lifestyles changed and they hated what happened to the world in Cata. It wasn’t accessibility or QoL. There was also a lot of guild drama back then and guilds broke up, some people left due to that. Some went off and joined other guilds.
Everyone thinks it’s their own pet annoyance of the game that was why millions of people left. But it’s most likely various reasons. Most of which seemed to be lack of time to play MMORPGs anymore.
Yeah, and you want to know who primarily parrots that sentiment? People who began playing around 2014-2017.
It isn’t an opinion held by people around since day one, because we saw much better that it blows our minds when people think Legion was good because that’s a really low bar. It was at most on par with Cataclysm which wasn’t really well received. Which should be a sign of how bad things can get when you praise an expansion for being close to Cataclysm quality.
Past that, most day one players have long since quit this game because of how radically its changed for the worse, I’m of a very small number of players still remaining.
legion is one of those rose tinted glasses type beat
Legion had some problems but definitely wasn’t on par with Cata. Cata did the world revamp that no one liked. Had the dungeons people didn’t want to run.
It’s not top of the list but it’s not even near the worst. It’s just guilty of being the expac where borrowed power systems were going out of control. But the content itself and class fantasy were pretty solid.
wait a minute are yall arguing which expac was better in ur opinion lmao am i reading this right
Classic era version of the game was in accessible to anyone that have a life and they most likely not to touch World of Warcraft nor even play it and this is why people soon realized that it was to restricted.
And so yeah they voted with their wallets and cataclysm and pandaria started to loosen more and more of the restrictive aspect of the game and make it accessible for the general public.
every single person i raid with is prob over 30 years old and has a life. what’s the excuse now
we got a bunch of pumpers for being old men like all of us. there’s no excuse
Dude you speak for you and no one else… also Legion was better than the majority of the expansions, personally #2 is a solid spot.
When Vanilla came out it was viewed as way more accessible compared to MMORPGs of it’s era. It’s best viewed through that lense. Because it was seen as the casual MMO that wasn’t like EQ where you had to wait around all day for spawns or for days in some cases.
There is so much to do besides raiding. Maybe the following might be true.
honestly - there should’ve been classic+ servers - osrs did it right chief.
they do polls for the community, they add content as they see fit, it’s just a better system for like the average human.
i’m sorry i dont care if u miss old classic wow, you’ll never feel that again
It honestly is. I find it funny people talk about nostalgia goggles and all the problems of Vanilla or TBC, but then praise Legion and forget to mention:
Need I go on with this?
these ppl dont remember bro literally all of these issues weren’t addressed back then - they just think legion was great.
the key bricking system was literally the worst thing i have ever experienced in a video game and that’s not an exaggeration
I can’t deny some part of it were casual but there were far more restricted parts of the game that the majority couldn’t even have access to it and so it slowly bled players because of it.
Suramar wasn’t available at launch.
The cadence for Legion wasn’t really bad. Sure Tomb was delayed but no patch cycle was really that long.
I think that there should’ve been classic+ servers for people who wanted to progress in a similar aspect to classic.
With the same simplicity but adding new content.
I think this is what Blizz will have to do if they want to keep the Classic thing going.
See like idk what blizz is gonna do - but jagex unironically does it correctly w/ polls and asking the community what’s a good idea or not.
u can dislike osrs but they actually do classic gameplay well
Otherwise they just wasted resources resurrecting an old game for modern times.
