I’m pretty sure this has almost nothing to do with WotLK.
We’re in a pretty bad content drought because there haven’t been new content since 9.2 - S4 is just old content that most players maybe played once again to get their slime cats. I myself can’t get motivation for raid nights anymore because of that reason.
The new expansion is right around the corner and here where I live it’s the last summer days so people tend to enjoy that more than hanging around in a worn-out game.
Never heard that before, Nope. Definitely not during every content drought ever.
We’re on the eve of a new expansion. We’ve always had long content droughts before a new expansion. In fact, season 4 is an unusual departure that we at least get a half-season of stuff to do during the content drought instead of 6 months of nothing.
I promise you you’ll survive this travesty. When DF comes out players will spike back up just like they have for every expansion in the past.
WoW is a seasonal game. It is unreasonable to expect it to maintain its peak year-round. As it stands, I don’t know why people are so opposed to putting their sub on hold during content droughts and only playing when there’s new stuff to be had. That’s a fine way to play the game.
As others have said, this is the end of expansion content drought, and six weeks after the start of this S4 business. If you’re bored, you could always let your sub lapse for the next month or so? There’s no harm in just stepping away from the game and playing something else. If you still want some of the rewards from S4, you could see if there are any groups helping people get the slime cat, but over all I don’t think you’ll have much luck doing stuff this far into the content drought.
If the leaks are to be believed, end of October should be pre-patch, so that’ll be when players may return (depending on what they do for pre-patch, of course).
I know several WoW players who don’t play other games, it’s almost like a form of addiction. They’d rather hang around in Stormwind doing nothing than play another game.
Take a look at the support you received, that’s your retail community you’re stuck with.
I suggest trying Classic in till Dragonflight comes out. Might even meet friends there since people actually talk in wrath with guilds and help one another out questing at times. A actual social community exists with classic.
