Classic WoW is killing Retail WoW

If you don’t play Classic(I don’t), you can’t even play retail right now due to lack of players.

Can’t find people for low keys, normal raids, heck most content right now.

Everyone got their slime cats and KSM and moved on.

My friends list has everyone in Wrath Classic and they aren’t logging into retail anymore.

As a retail only player, I am bored. I can’t do content solo like M+, so what am I to do?

I would take a break, but my game time is just going to wither away unused. I still have 4 months left.

Every time a content drought happens everyone acts like they’ve never seen one before.

I swear y’all are worse than northeasterners on the first day of winter driving.

“It’s never been this bad!”

Content drought does this to every expansion eventually and Shadowlands was kind of meh to begin with… although Nathria was really cool.

You’ll see a big surge in Dragonflight, just pray it doesn’t end with a drought quite as long as Shadowlands.

I’m pretty sure this has almost nothing to do with WotLK.
We’re in a pretty bad content drought because there haven’t been new content since 9.2 - S4 is just old content that most players maybe played once again to get their slime cats. I myself can’t get motivation for raid nights anymore because of that reason.
The new expansion is right around the corner and here where I live it’s the last summer days so people tend to enjoy that more than hanging around in a worn-out game.

Never heard that before, Nope. Definitely not during every content drought ever.

We’re on the eve of a new expansion. We’ve always had long content droughts before a new expansion. In fact, season 4 is an unusual departure that we at least get a half-season of stuff to do during the content drought instead of 6 months of nothing.

I promise you you’ll survive this travesty. When DF comes out players will spike back up just like they have for every expansion in the past.

WoW is a seasonal game. It is unreasonable to expect it to maintain its peak year-round. As it stands, I don’t know why people are so opposed to putting their sub on hold during content droughts and only playing when there’s new stuff to be had. That’s a fine way to play the game.

Blizzard doesn’t really care — whether you’re playing SL or LKc they still get the monthly tithe. LKc will hold things until DF prepatch and launch.

That’s not true. Retail is at the end of the content cycle. Classic just released new content.

I myself would rather play retail that learned some lessons from classic, especially wrath, than actually full time play wrath.

As others have said, this is the end of expansion content drought, and six weeks after the start of this S4 business. If you’re bored, you could always let your sub lapse for the next month or so? There’s no harm in just stepping away from the game and playing something else. If you still want some of the rewards from S4, you could see if there are any groups helping people get the slime cat, but over all I don’t think you’ll have much luck doing stuff this far into the content drought.

If the leaks are to be believed, end of October should be pre-patch, so that’ll be when players may return (depending on what they do for pre-patch, of course).

your title has nothing to do with your post content

It’s also the time of year. Human beings like being outside when it’s nice.

Classic is garbage, I just did the DK zone for the mount, never going back.

I know several WoW players who don’t play other games, it’s almost like a form of addiction. They’d rather hang around in Stormwind doing nothing than play another game.

You say this like every other expansion hasn’t had a similar or longer end-of-xpack content lull.

9.2 launched like a week before March. It’s been less than 7 months.

After the first couple expansions, the lull has pretty much always been 8-15 months.

You can reread my first line where I said every expansion has a content drought.

Shadowlands feels like it drags on because S4 isn’t a true season so we come back to play but it’s basically still the same thing.

Join the party in classic, I guess

Take a look at the support you received, that’s your retail community you’re stuck with.

I suggest trying Classic in till Dragonflight comes out. Might even meet friends there since people actually talk in wrath with guilds and help one another out questing at times. A actual social community exists with classic.

If its any consolation, they probably ain’t logging onto Wrath Classic either… they’re probably stuck in a queue.

Didn’t I tell you retailers this would happen?
