that what blizz wanted. That is why season 4 was so lack luster.
Which means that only a few servers are busy which doesn’t indicate in any way Classic killing Retail. It only shows a couple busy servers. Is WOTLK Classic busy right now? I would certainly hope so considering prepatch hit and game launches for real soon. But let’s see where things are in a few months when Classic has to actually compete against a new expansion launching instead of the tail end of one. I just don’t see it lasting.
I just don’t see it lasting.
Shadowlands didn’t kill TBC, so there’s that.
However, I would say that Woltk is very casual so people will most likely clear raids 1 night a week and then play dragonflight.
Dragonflight is gonna be shiza and you all know it. Blizzard doesn’t hire game designers anymore and this will never be WoW going forward. They hire app devs who build pay to win models for phone games and this will always be their focus from this point on. Minimal effort revenue generation is the model now. All content is time-gated and they will intentionally milk your $20 a month while you follow their rail guided, one dimensional path where they govern your progress.
I was working 60-70 hours a week so when I book 2 weeks of vacation for an expansion launch or content drop and they hit me with a daily/weekly time-gate when I actually literally booked off life to play and get ahead of the game, that’s a bad design. I’m not sure what company in the gaming industry goes off the time played / engagement matrix anymore, I’m pretty sure they’ve all scrapped that now. Blizzard literally just wants to sell you a copy of an unfinished game that still needs beta-testing (even though you beta tested for 3 months before release) and a 6 month sub mount. That’s a cheap profit directly into their pockets. No more! I will continue to play classic and when I see an expansion worth purchasing and investing my time into without having to buy wow tokens to play the game, maybe then I will move back to retail but I am doubtful blizzard will ever move back in the right direction with the game after getting a taste of the cash cow… Money ruins everything good. Sorry folks, probably no one cares but in my opinion this is the biggest issue in retail.
You’ll see a big surge in Dragonflight, just pray it doesn’t end with a drought quite as long as Shadowlands.
WoD drought was a lot longer and worse than SL especially since WoD had little content. The worst drought was Wrath to where they had to make a throw-in 1 boss dragon fight called Ruby Sanctum and that was a horrible “raid” and boring imo and people stopped doing it after a week or 2. But that drought overall was the worse.
when I actually literally booked off life to play and get ahead of the game, that’s a bad design
Thats a bad design for you. Actively playing for 4 weeks then vanish and reappear next patch is not how to play WoW.
Time-gating is on my side as Casual so I would rest not worrying on 24/7 players to leave me behind. I am having a blast right now becoz I am not that far behind despite of my very limited play time.
Didn’t say I play for 4 weeks and quit… I said I used the time to GET AHEAD before people no life it and are miles ahead of people doing life.
Didn’t say I play for 4 weeks and quit
YOu dont have to do it like that anymore. Those 24/7 people wont leave you behind becoz time gate is in our side. Just log in few times to complete your weekly and call it a game.
Retail WoW is killing itself. Blizzard could be focusing on enjoyment and player retention, but seems more interested in the metrics and catering to elites.
Not surprising that Wrath was the pinnacle of player subscriptions and raiding, when it was available and inclusive. Retail should take some lessons back from the Classic players why it’s so popular right now.
Classic is tearing retail apart!! Oh hi Mark.
worse than northeasterners on the first day of winter driving
Don’t you mean snowbirds who forgot to go home?
I couldn’t even see the vault today with everyone smashed into it. There are more people in oribos any given day at primetime than I saw doing the dk starting zone for the mount. A sea of transmog mounts at the catalyst.
Idk I always say I’m getting served some special experience that leads me to shilling but it just keeps being true…retail is still busy as heck. LFG still full, low and mid keys. Timewalking queues last week we’re still <10 min for dps, like always.
People saying “oh this is normal, it’s a content drought” but like… why’s the game so busy on my screen?
Mythics are still going
Raids are still going
We’re on the last like 2.5 months or so of this expansion
Wrath is wrath, and its got “fresh” things to keep people busy until the expansion… It’s almost like they staggered it to keep people subscribed and active one way or another…
Welcome to every MMO at the end of a release cycle
If you don’t play Classic(I don’t), you can’t even play retail right now due to lack of players.
I can play Retail right now becoz I am not severely behind on gear like you.
Many players are now KSM so most players should be on high key by now. Me, I am almost KSM but I feel that I am very far behind but then I saw you. I am not as bad as you.
I can find Raids, Dungeons at my gear level. I am very fine… Yeah, I already have my Slime Cat too… Would try to reach KSM this week.
I might get the free mount for Retail by playing a DK in Classic. I am thinking of reaching max level in Classic and do raid logging by the time DF comes. But I always think of what am I gonna do with my Classic toon after Wrath Classic is over? I feel it’s a Waste. I prefer maintaining my Retail toon becoz it always have a future.
the bosses don’t have mechanics. literally at all. like if ur gonna use that a basis of argument idk what to tell u.
Stop talking out of your butt. Every boss in Classic WoW has multiple mechanics. Are the raid easy? YEP. Are they fun? YEP.
I agree, they do. Classic is fun and “hard” for other reasons other than just boss mechanics tho.
Yes and you’re misinterpreting what I said, we should hope that Dragonflight has something to keep us interested and playing at the end better than Shadowlands S3-4, that’s the hope, to just do better than Shadowlands, to keep improving.
most people are really bored or burnout of shadowlands, so as soon they saw an option they take it.
Shadowlands is killing retail, not classic lol.
Honestly though I would be quite interested in seeing blizzards numbers for subscriptions actively playing classic vs subscriptions playing retail, I wager if wow token players are not factored in it would skew sharply.
I for one only play classic is because I havn’t really played TBC but now Wrath and its my fav expansion so will be playing classic longer.
Only way for me to come back to retail is when Blizzard finally brings out either WoW 2 an actual WoW 2 or a good expansion that is worth coming back to and people are still playing thought the expansion and not leaving like what happened in BFA and Shadowlands.
Thats what makes it annoying when playing on mmo when theirs no or not enough players playing the game.
