should wait till bgs released to ask this. anyone that claims anything would be hollow diatribe
but i read the world pvp in title now. nvm. just never saw any wpvp videos since wrath and FD were fighting on illidan on horde.
Anything but a Boomkin Druid.
Boomkin is by far the worst spec in classic
And then gets hit by piercing howl, with its 10yd range, and needs to shift x2 again. A warrior can chase a druid and keep within charge range from one flag room to the other in wsg. Dont forget the chance of imp hamstring proccing, meaning that druid stops dead - hopefully caught in cat form for an easy overpower proc (+50% crit) and cops a deep wounds.
Your druid has two options - bear form until backup arrives, or die.
Sounds legit but then I see stormx dance around warriors all day shifting, rooting, etc
An sl lock with a felhunter is a mages worst nightmare. Purge poly, frost nova, purge their frost sheild and silence any hard casts while dots just melt them there’s almost nothing a mage can even do.

So what counters an sl lock?
World PvP is trash skill-wise and is best done for fun. There’s a million variables, gear, class, professions, guards, cool downs, even layering.
Play Mage I guess, maybe Spriest
best done for fun
In a well balanced group.
not much, A geared warrior only if sl lock has a felhunter out, otherwise shamans and spriests can purge sl off of the pet which gives them a decent chance but it will be a tight matchup depending on if the lock has fel hunter or not. Both can purge a voidwalker sac and heal through dots and shamans can tremor off fears, but will have difficulty hard casting due to CoT and spell lock. Very skill based matchup but its as close to a hard counter as it gets.

And at best it will be just a zerg. You might kill a guy here and there but
Sorry, but skill based World PvP just doesn’t exist. Battlegrounds are the platform where classes show what skill they have shrug
In world pvp healers are usually around. The original post was not talking 1v1 duels.
goes up and rereads OP , yep, didn’t think i was going nuts.
solo play (don’t say healers with a warrior lol)…questing and at 60?
Blizzard confirmed from reference client sl can not be purged off of a pet. It is in their it is not a big list.
I don’t know about this idea that warriors can stick to a Druid flag carrying from one flag to the other. Gonna call a hard bs on that one sir lol.
But I’d say druids, either a hybrid spec or a feral played well is a strong contender for top tier wpvp. Many have mentioned the reasons so Ill try not to reiterate too much but their survivability is insane. With that said, in my 54 levels thus far, the only class that’s ever given me a lick of trouble was a lock. Fear in vanilla is just a force. You move super fast, hardly ever breaks, feels like just a 10s stun to be honest. Then you have void sac, health stone, fear and drain life, they just take forever to die. Now it’s worth mentioning the only reason it’s annoying is because of the cost of shifting. If shifting 4-5 times alone didn’t drain the entire mana bar, let alone healing, I don’t think I’d ever die. Of course all classes would benefit from infinite resources but I’m serious, druids especially in this case. With mana pots and innervate… it comes down to who is gonna run out first. And likely…a Druid won’t. If we do though, it’s game over. We can’t really effectively run away with corruption on us. I mean we can, but if the lock mounts up and keeps tabs on you, we can’t re-stealth. And if we can’t hide, it does us no good.

Have you forgotten that warriors sat in roots in vanilla? If you fap so can the druid and hes still faster than you. You get one charge and now cant stun him nor can you slow him. No way you’ll catch a druid that doesn’t want you to.
I’m having a lot of success on a night elf hunter atm. I’m probably like 95% kill rate in wPvP. Why?
- Shadowmeld/Pet Stealth = I get the advantage 95% of the time
- Track Stealth / Humanoids = I know where everyone is
- Aspect of Beast = makes me hidden to other hunters. No one seems to use this? because of this I beat every hunter cuz I get the jump.
- Cheetah / Kiting. The general skill level in classic seems really low so far and they dont know how to deal with me. I’m sure I’ll face very good players come BG/P2 but its kinda funny so far
- 300 Eng before others. Access to stun bombs, etc

Thanks for the replies, Ironically I’m really stuck between hunter, Druid and warlock for this decision. A part of me thinks I should just stick it out with the warrior, but aside from WOTF for fears, I feel like a sitting duck in WPVP… being that it’s my fave part of the game, it’s hard for me to continue and not be overly discouraged.
The more I think about vanilla in the past, the more I have to agree with a lock’s fear being contender… the only issue I see is with 0 mobility, if someone who can deny you fear (enhance shaman?) gets the jump on you as a lock… you’re screwed.
How would a hybrid Druid, or hunter beat a lock?
Well, I’ve not played a hybrid in the sense that I actually use the balance tree for damage so I can’t comment on that. But at the moment, as a tank oriented feral:
Open with ravage, work my way to 5cps. I’ll likely get coiled which I have to sit. Then feared. I’ll use dash afterwards to get back, finish off the cps for a nice rip, and continue to harass in cat. Once he goes for another fear, I warstomp—> regrowth—>rejuv and hop in bear. I expect the next fear so generally I’ll start to run away to charge/interrupt it. After that I’d just sit bear and wail on him. I have bash for the next fear. And all the while I purposefully don’t use rage since I’ve gone in bear so that when a fear does happen to land that I can’t get out of, I pop frenzy regen right before so I negate all damage he does to me while feared. After that I’d have charge for the next one or just continue to wail on him. Once you’re on fear DR there’s not much a lock can do to pressure you. He’ll live for a while but he’s not nearly as tanky as I am. Whenever you find yourself low, pop out to heal (preferably on dr or when warstomp is available). Innervate yourself preemptively to top off mana, and you should out last him.
Once I get a trinket, it’s much easier as I can get wail in cat in the opener much easier.
In TBC it was Rogues that were the Warlock’s nemesis. Is that not the case in Classic?
You just…can’t win.
Laughs in Purge.
