Classic vs Retail. Retail is a superior game but fails in key areas

the other night when i was doing the pearl emissary my hunter ended up at the meeting stone and it was right there. dekkar has never even been to it. how is that possible?

do you know the name of the achievement that lets you go there? i wanna see if i have it. if i do that explains how my hunter was able to go. but dekkar still has quests i think so idk if he’s finished it.

And did you complete the Nazjatar zone storyline on an Alliance 120 or a Horde 120?

Unfathomable, I believe

I hate caps. I don’t think there’s any harm in me wanting to grind Conquest Points to gear up if I can play everyday for a month. However, I can’t do that because Blizzard says I can’t. I get Conquest capped in 2-days and log off for 5-days because I can’t earn anymore. It’s like mommy saying you can only have 2-scoops of ice cream this week. I hate it, it’s the dumbest thing in WoW…these artificial walls they have.

thanks i’ll log in and look.

^Is the Horde version.

^Is the achievement.

But they aren’t equivalent, because The Tide Turns gives your alts access to the raid entrance, whereas Unfathomable does not.

Alliance version.

That’s the difference, then.

So it’s your contention that doing the questline on the Alliance unlocks the entrance for your entire account, regardless of faction, but completing it on a Horde character doesn’t?

ugh computer is being slow. need to restart. i’ll check dekkar’s achievements in a sec.

The difference is the whirlpool graphic isn’t there, but if you swim down into the water you still get sucked to the entrance of the zone where the meeting stone is. If you’re looking for the graphic that happens when it’s open through the story it doesn’t exist.

That character doesn’t have the Unfathomable achievement completed.

I don’t mind timegating as much as some but I can see the appeal of a no barriers approach. Primarily, it works with a wider variety of schedules… for example, if I’m too busy to play at all during the week and can only really play on weekends and holidays, Classic is probably going to be better for me because although I may not grind it all out in one sitting, I can make sure the time that I spend has as much impact as it possibly can – it allows me to play for a relatively normal 2-4 hours over the weekend and get a lot done where BfA would throttle me to a crawl.

thanks. i didn’t think he did. i could’ve sworn they made it so anyone could go through to the entrance without the 10 days of stuff completed. there was a blue post about it.

But you were right, in that back at the beginning this is something that didn’t work. When they changed it because of complaints they didn’t visually signify it in any way.

I completely agree. I think blizzard went way too far with the handholding. They’ve practically forced players to play a certain way rather than letting them choose what to do, you’ve already given quite a few examples so I won’t do that but I definitely agree. Having variety and allowing players to choose is usually always nice. Being able to grind rep through mob farming, dungeon farming or world quests would be great to have.

I also think classic has better gear progression. Not the best but much better than the convoluted RNG fiesta we have now. Just playing WoW without titanforging honestly feels really nice. Going into a dungeon and knowing “if this item drops this is what I get” and not having to worry or think about if it forges 20 ilvls or has a random socket.
