Is this not the same response when people asked for Classic? I get that some things might be tough to implement like a whole Emerald Dream raid, but all we can do is wait and see.
You said you want Classic+ too. Seems counter productive to tell everyone it won’t happen or shouldn’t because there’s a few things you disagree on. Working against self interests is a thing though.
Ignore the naysayers. They were the same that said Classic would never happen in the first place.

You won’t ever get that.
I promise you.
This isn’t a “But the gave us Classic!” situation.
This is a “Retail is our main vehicle” situation, and they won’t change Classic to be different and take away from Retail in the process. You’re not getting OSRS.
Classic will only get minor updates and scraps from Retail, at best.
Whether it takes from retail or not, they still get the same Sub. The notion that people are outright playing Classic over Retail warrants some attention. I know some who don’t even play retail at all.

I just don’t see extensive development resources being devoted to classic. There’s not a chance the bean counters at Activision want money going towards Classic unless they implement extensive changes to how profit can be milked from it.

That’s fine, but you understand they consider your sub to be for Retail and giving you Classic is just an “extra perk” for your sub, correct?
Whether you actually play Retail or not, that’s what you are actually paying for. Classic is just an “extra” they added to appease people.
I love the idea of classic+, But; a big But;
Are they gonna ask these retail designers to make a Classic+ for us ?
or
Are they brining in the old designers or maybe hire some of these great great people we have working on PSevers?
If it’s the former I prefer to keep vanilla with no change. Retail minded developers won’t be able to make a Classic+ we like simply because they don’t understand the philosophy and basic elements of classic.
Whatever helps them sleep at night I suppose. Perhaps that’s the reason they won’t split the subs because it might convey an abandonment of Retail.
Either way, the point is people want Classic+. If there’s a feature or two most people are asking for you don’t like doesn’t mean it shouldn’t or won’t happen. That’s all I am saying.
I love the idea of them exploring “what could have been” with Classic content, but they won’t.
Anything they didn’t put in previously is being held for Retail.
That’s why we got the Emerald Dream/Nightmare in Legion and the Dragon Isles now.
If they had put that content in sooner (like when they had originally planned), it probably would have paled in comparison to what we got later on after they had time to think about it and flesh it out better.
It’s not “whatever helps them sleep at night”. It’s their official stance on the subject.
You’re paying for Retail. Anything you get beyond that is a perk.

Who the designers are doesn’t matter nearly as much as What the designers are working towards.
I think the Classic Team we have now could focus on completing parts of the original Azeroth that never got released. Ensuring the additions stay true to the spirit Classic is what should be prioritized.

I’d even be fine with once a year major patch. Something is better than nothing in that regard. Let a small team develop the Classic+ and go from there.

Honestly this is not about the content for me. Putting in Emerald Dream or Emerald Nightmare doesn’t make much difference for me. Names, colors, creatures and stuff like that are a lower priority for me.
What I care about is the philosophy and feeling of the game. Will Classic+ feel like Vanilla or is it gonna feel like a crap like WOTLK or other modern, retaily like expansions?
That’s all matters to me. I am sure they will choose some good lure and graphics for classic+. I am not worried about that.

Classic+ seems like a non-starter.
The people who actually stick around in Classic are the ones who prefer that version of WoW to all others. That includes the HC and SoM folks.
A lot of content can’t be put into the game because it would retcon things that happen later and everyone would gripe about that too. The options for new raids would have to be half tiers and should be something unique like a Scarlet Crusade raid or similar that fits without being story breaking.
A lot of what I see people ask for frankly would ruin the game and split the community. You would have people who made official Classic a reality and the people who want a modern WoW in Azeroth playing on different servers playing a totally different game.

This doesn’t mean Classic+ is a non-starter. It means we think Classic is better than retail and all of its expansions. Classic Era isn’t a #NoChanges safety bunker.

About the same as Classic Hardcore? Or Retail and Classic? Or Era and TBC/WotLK? Or… like Horde and Alliance? xD
Everyone is going to have differing opinions. The thing about Hardcore though is at least there is a concerted effort (and money likely lining some devs pockets) to get HC servers going.
Classic+ people need to push for a general consensus on it and it would gain traction.
I haven’t seen a general consensus, usually what I see from people is a wishlist of easy mode (“QoL”) things from future expansions.
Blizzard is better off ignoring players for the most part unless a community takes off so strong that it deserves attention, e.g. private servers and HC.

Aren’t there numerous ‘Classic+’ servers out there? Only difference is HC addon/devs are apparently making some Blizz devs some side cash, apparently.
Exactly. What Classic+ is as we already agree on is a wish list of things people say they want but there is no consensus on what those things are and no consideration for how they change the game for better or worse.
If you combine every feature people want from classic + that’s been posted on these forums you just get Classic Wrath.

Gross, no way. Flying mounts are an instant turn-off.
