I wasn’t really referring to PvP, though I suppose that’s a part. Even on retail there’s still PvP outside of instance entrances, but actual out in the world fighting is limited to people swooping down on low levels to gank. Really though, I’m talking about overall scope and feel of the world.
Classic’s world feels large and meaningful to me right now because I have to experience it. I can’t just hop on my flying mount, point in the direction of my destination, and AFK. Flight points only get you so far. If I want to go to Dire Maul, it’s a bit of a journey to get there. Flying cut through the tedium, but at the expense of world size. I like my QoL features, but I do feel flying took away from the game.
As for suggesting they do a Classic TBC without flying… I’d be on the fence. Late game TBC was designed around having flying. I’m not sure it’s as easy as just removing it… there would have to be significant changes to other things. It was also an iconic part of TBC, I’m not sure it could just be removed.
Did you raid or do arenas in TBC? Because if you did, you would not make such an obviously false statement.
Class balance was still so screwed up in TBC that, for Wrath, Blizzard adopted the mantra “Bring the player, not the class” and immediately started homogenizing all of the classes with the same abilities so that there would be no more class stacking as seen in TBC.
What data proves this? We need census data from TBC Classic, not old data from the original release of TBC.
It took the community time to figure out the best classes to stack, and, by that time, people were already attached to their character. Guilds took what they could get.
Classic is filled with more Mages, Rogues, and Warriors than the original release because we have hindsight. If there is a TBC Classic, the same min maxing will occur.
Getting “Sunwelled” was a verb after TBC that refers to losing your raid spot because mechanics didn’t allow your class to be competitive. This is a reference to Mages as their DPS was subpar and Sunwell’s DPS check was fairly high.
Yeah I know, it’s not even phase 2 yet and this community is already assuming they are getting an unannounced game as if it’s coming out in a few weeks.
YEP! Eveything after that sucked. MOP the worst expansion ever in the history of the gaming world, catering to the disney kiddies and there fascination with Pandas ruining the game as we know it.
What’s hilarious is that although MoP did everything you just said, it was actually the best expansion in regard to blizzards modern iteration of game systems.
Ignore the pandas and look at the fact that RNG was much more forgiving, and we had reforging on gear.
In my honest opinion the worst expansions to this game are Legion (being the worst because it paved the way for Bfa), BFA (because it is a continuation of the legion iteration), and then WoD.
Except for the fact you could not get flying till 68… and the mount was 40% slower than your epic ground mount so many people didn’t even bother with it till they could get the epic flying…
After like a month of leveling and grinding reputations for heroic keys tbc turns into farming primal airs in one of two areas, logging in to make spellcloth/primal might, and raid logging.
