Since they said that a few weeks is how long it is going to take to “ban” its function I think that they will actual monitor its use and most likely leave it alone or ask the developer to remove the chat spam auto invite functions.
Isn’t that the point of the ban - that it does it completely unattended?
Gatherer simply gives you the data in a table and you have to go looking through it.
So far as age - I peg you as a 30 year old personal injury lawyer.
There is several ways blizz can do this as far as i know, they can even just ourtright mark certain addons, and then they wont load… while other will, even if they technically use the same API…
Uh, I’m no expert so I can’t attest otherwise, but I’m pretty sure RPers and others wouldn’t be nervous if it was this easy. Do you know for a fact this is how it works?
Thats not how it works. It would be nice if they could but they cannot.
Except that I think “nervous” is state of the art on this forum.
ttake ur whataboutism and go back to the ussr that created that
they can essentially ban, a player, content from a certain person, they can block based on mostly anything… but the main part is to do the work on the API, to get it right, on the classic experience blizzard has choosen as the right one, as far as i know
come with valid argument not some fallacy bs
lol that’s very true. The Classic forums in particular are in a constant state of “the sky is falling!”
Still, I know people that never visit the forums that heard about it through friends, wowhead, twitter, etc. Heck, even the person that makes TRP (an RP addon, if you don’t know) seemed concerned about the blue post.
Again, I don’t think that the people that actually make addons would be concerned if it was that easy to pick and choose which addons work and which don’t. But I don’t know enough about how they work to disprove it either, so /shrug.
Well, I use maybe one or two. I hope Auctioneer comes available on Classic, since I like to play around with the auctions, but beyond that, I use the standard interface and set up.
it isnt, alot of fear mongering by people that has sodium overload, and cant interact socialy with people and need tools to do it for them…
Again, its fairly easy to block mostly anything for blizz as far as i know
It’s not a ban. I really wish people would stop calling it a ban. I am not even being pedantic here, as it is nothing even like a ban…
A ban implies that the addon is unable to run on the WoW client, in any form, for a certain length of time or even permanently. Blizzard doesn’t “ban” addons.
Why doesn’t Blizzard ban addons? Well, because it would be effectively impossible. They could create a list of addons they don’t like and then if an addon with that name pops up prevent the addon from running… but anyone with a text editor can get around that. Just open the addon up and change the name from ClassicLFG to ButtCheese. Addon continues working the same, despite it’s now ridiculous name.
They could use some kind of md5sum of the addon or another hash of the data… until the author catches on and then switches the first and the last function, or literally adds a comment like – lulzerz. Now that’s changed and the addon works again…
Blizzard doesn’t ban addons. They restrict API features that prevents the addon from doing the thing they dislike. That’s it.
So you like to automate your auction house game; rather than you know use a pen and pad to do math just like people did in Vanilla…
/snarkysarcasm
You mean that video of the retail version? Cause I didn’t think there are void elves and dark iron dwarves in Classic.
I dont need the add on… I will have a guild full of people I will run with…
Thats not how it works…
My dude you aren’t understanding the point. It doesn’t matter if there is an addon that will improve a system that worked before, but to experience what vanilla WoW was. People want it gone because there was nothing like it for it’s time. This re release of vanilla isn’t about improving it but to relive it and there was nothing close to this addon for it’s time. It doesn’t matter if it increases your friends list faster but how you had to work on increasing your friends list
But people out here know how “complex” programming things work despite never cleaning out the inside of their Dell…
Yeah, I don’t use many addons either. Just stuff for RP.
I think Blizzard is going to be cautious when trimming the API down, despite what some people on the forums may hate or love.
Except the Developers have literally rewritten how the honor is calculated so that you do not have to wait for a reset to get your ranks…
Wait until people start to realize the impact that is going to have…
