Classic LFG is "banned" What about Gatherer?

This is Gatherer_p2p 1.0.0
Its crucial feature is node synchronization via guild chat. With node broadcasting on gathering:

ABOUT:

Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It’s main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on you minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it “remembers” where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in it’s history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on you minimap.

When you view your main map, you will also see the item locations marked on the particular map you are viewing there.

Not only does it save the information for later use it broadcasts it via chat to other people using the add-on so that they also have it.

Creating a Social Network of Materials Farmers who have to use the add-on that is antithetical to the Spirit of Classic.

Gatherer isn’t trying to recreate a function of the UI from Retail WoW. The LFG Addon is. Hopefully they won’t break Gatherer when they break the LFG Addon.

Doesn’t harm or break the social interaction aspect of the game in any way. All it does is tell you where resource spawns are likely to be.

Understand first why people don’t want LFG, then you can come up with a better comparison.

Just stop, please

He’s correct about creating the private social network, though. I think that’s a gray area.

you have no way to confirm if what they change API wise won’t effect Gatherer or any other AddOn.

You’re right. That’s why I’m hoping they don’t.

you can just download a database for gatherer that’ll have all spawn locations anyway, i have never used guild share

Sigh this is starting to remind me of that Pokemon controversy…

I don’t think it’s a waste of time.
If ClassicLFG’s networking feature is broken, then Gatherer’s surely will be too.

OTOH, I don’t have much of a problem with this, myself. Gatherer’s main function isn’t to create a network and I think it can survive that feature being broken.

Same tired excuse you used for Layering. LFG wont do it either…

Understand that your claims are like a boogeyman in the closet.

LFG Does not remove the need to run to the dungeon.
LFG Does not remove the need to communicate to clear the dungeon.
LFG Does not remove the need to make loot choices before starting the dungeon.
LFG Does not automatically port you to the dungeon.
LFG Does not automatically replace someone you removed from the dungeon.

Comprehend what you are irrationally lashing out against with the same arguments you made against layering then perhaps you can understand how flawed your arguments are.

I will have teo gathering professions and I would be a fool to tell my competition where nodes are.

Gatherer existed when World of Warcraft Launched and was on its 7th or 8th patch within like 2 months of WoW’s launch.

You want the developers to make a change because of the way YOU feel.

YOU are the type of person that broke Vanilla to begin with.

“Antithetical to the Spirit of Classic” within the context of your argument (as an equivalence to the arguments against ClassicLFG) means that it destroys, or at least substantially reduces human interaction. That is the Spirit of Classic that those advocating for Classic pushed for. Gatherer does absolutely nothing to reduce human interaction, therefore this is a false equivalence within context.

It shares within the guild. If you think they are competition then that is on you sir.

Have you looked at a video of what it does?

This doesn’t belong in Classic, the Developers agreed as far back as Blizzcon '18 and so they are breaking/disabling it. That is all there is to it.
