Classic is getting very toxic...and it's dangerous

i get what your saying about people only taking certain builds for dunegeons/raids i play a ret pally so im not really sought after as there are alot of dps. People should just play for fun like u said in regards to dungeons.

I can only hope you all end up in a guild together and eat eachother as people like that tend to do. You deserve it.

In a guild that works together and we got oceanic first rag kill

WE arnt toxic, we just play the game different how we enjoy it.

You are the toxic one gatekeeping “but you have to play classic MY way or its the WRONG way.”

Please, how about you let people play however the frick they want to.

FYI this is an MMORPG, community is important in this type of game.

I mean, it’s all here plain as day to see, there are some pretty cold, hostile folks posting, and they are mostly lvl 50+

It’s not about making groups, or being the best, it’s about how people are treating each other. It’s about the community behaving like decent people since no matter how “hardcore” you think you are, Vanilla WoW WAS a game that became successful through community.

Will Classic be a success or will it fail? Perhaps it can succeed without community, it’s possible, like anything. Although I find it doubtful because the fickle modern gaming community picks up and drops games every other month. I was simply contrasting retail, vanilla, classic, and my experience thus far and what I see as problems.

I don’t know about that.

I made the jump from Asherons Call II to vanilla wow back in the day, and the first thing I noticed was how awful the wow community was compared to AC2.

I don’t think newer (relatively) gamers realize just how community-focused you had to be in the old school MMOs. Wow came along and changed everything from day 1, and brought with it a very different community.

Some gamers are selfish sociopaths, they could never understand the concept of a community.

It was toxic, with that you are 100% correct. Now though, you’re not just dealing with terrible people, but an extra level of exclusion and elitism.

This is the disadvantage of 15 years of experience. Players know who will contest with their “drops” and exclude classes like Hunters that may roll on coveted items. We’ll exclude the leveling hybrid class because they can’t AOE

I hope this was a joke, but I saw a guild advertise dps recruitment for raids. They only wanted Mages, Warriors and Rogues. Other classes need not apply because they’re sub optimal damage.

WoW success is kind of a paradox. You know it’s doing well when the community is “toxic”. When people are generally nice then you know it’s going through a dry spell.

I kind of prefer it when wow isn’t so successful. It’s better for the community feel.

I came from Star Wars Galaxies and Ultima Online myself, and you’re right, compared to even older MMO’s, Vanilla was a different level (although mostly in barrens chat lol).

But at least Vanilla was tolerable at it’s worst compared to what most gaming communities have become.

Im on that server to. Hit me up if you need a tank/dps.

Douchebags in a video game are not dangerous. Grow up.

Maybe we don’t like being called “toxic” or told we’re “playing the game wrong” just because we didnt buff your stupid behind or inv you to a group.

Classic to me is about being self sufficient, if you can’t find a group, make one.

From my perspective you are the toxic player.

Not really, not at the start. I’d say it really started to get toxic around the time of the PVP grind started and BWL. The AQ gate opening ramped it up and Naxx didn’t help much either.

It actually got a lot better with the launch of BC though. Even through BC and WotLK it was decent, towards the end of WotLK the toxicity increased quite a bit and just kept ramping.

I play on Westfall and I can honestly say I’ve seen very, very few people spamming for AOE groups. Most people have been very nice and helpful.

I really like my server.

Calling certain behaviors toxic is not the same as calling a person toxic. I also never said anything about “playing the game wrong”.

Thus far, you are the only person who has called any specific person, toxic.

This is not about just making groups, it’s about community health which impacts the success of the game we all want to play in our various ways.

That said, various factors CAN negatively impact community and as such, the success of the game. LFR in Classic, some people want it, there are posts with people asking, but the consensus is that it would negatively impact the community so we are literally telling those people they can’t play the game how they want because it negatively impacts the overall community. That same example can carry over to player behaviors.

To be fair, there are some idiots playing classic.

In as many min/maxers, there are also as many total morons who need on gear they don’t need, who can’t heal for crap, who don’t understand how to tank 5 mans, who also think they are able to start gm tickets for gambling and camping.

I waited on a 27 warrior to tank BFD, then asked what was taking so long to get there, he said he didn’t have the flight path, lol, peace.

I definitely haven’t noticed any elevated toxicity. It’s been pretty normal. Sure, there are the occasional troll/ninja looter, but for the most part people have been pretty nice.

Big wah hours.

Go finish levelling bro.

Right, which is why I gave a solution that isn’t related to group comp.

Most of it is dictating to others how they should behave.

What makes it great is subjective.

You’re telling people that how they play is a problem because YOU find something else more important.
